Today, we will remember, honor and bury my precious grandfather.
You guys, this is a special day.
He was SO excited about this day.
After my Mimi passed, all he wanted to do was “go home” which he did on January 8th. He wanted to be with her and with Jesus. I’m not sure I had a visit with him though during those 15 months where he didn’t also mention to me how blessed and honored he was to be buried in the Veteran’s cemetery with her in his full uniform and medals. I honestly think he held on just long enough to see his uniform and his medals before going home.
So, I’m not here, I’m there today. I will take photos and share them because it’s what he wanted. The US Marines told him at the end that he would be honored and recognized for his service to our country and boy, he was pumped about that 😉 . It’s not a farewell today, it’s a “see you soon” as we celebrate the amazing life and legacy of Thomas Roy Lowe.
A wife of 75 years.
Two daughters. One son.
Five grandchildren.
Eleven great-grandchildren.
And five great-great grandchildren too.
A life to be celebrated and honored today. xx

I’ve already been praying about your day. There’s so much to celebrate but it still hurts. Can’t even begin to imagine the party heaven had when he arrived. XO

This is beautiful all around. I lost my dear Daddy in 2021 and his service honoring his 4 yrs in Vietnam and 40yrs in the Navy along with his stone in our beautiful Fort Snelling Cemetery have been a huge comfort to us. We are most thankful thought that our Dad really came to know the Lord in his last year of life and we have so much peace that we too will see him soon. Big hug, Shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
Wow! Your dad is a true hero. I cannot even imagine his impact on our country and the world. God bless your family.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your grandfather, but he sounds like he was a great man. When he got to Heaven, the Lord said, “Well done my good and faithful servant.” I knew your father in high school and he looks so much like your grandfather.
Reading about your grandfather reminded me so much of my Dad. He passed away in October and was buried at the DFW National Cemetery with my mother last month. What a beautiful peaceful place that is.
Hold all of the great memories close to your heart forever.

What a legacy for your family, what a loss for this generation, but man, a grand celebration that took place in heaven the day he arrived. Well done indeed! There is a song by Janet Paschal (an old one released in 90’s) and the words are Strike up the band, assemble the choir, another soldier’s coming home, another warrior hears the call he’s waited for so long, He’ll battle no more, he’s won his wars, make sure heaven’s table has room for at least one more.
What a comforting visual for us that remain and mourn the loss, of a banquet table and one more chair being added for a faithful servant’s homecoming. God is merciful and good indeed.

Wow, I can’t help be think how beautiful it is that because he lived such a full life he was able to welcome death rather than fear it. If we could all be so lucky. ❤️
