At the very beginning of summer, we sat down and made out a list of things we wanted to do over the season…so, I thought it would be fun to do the same thing for fall too.
Fall into Christmas is the best time of the year for my family, and we cannot wait to share our traditions with Ashby this year. Like seriously, we talk about it all the time :).
This girl…
…has no idea what she’s in for!
So, the other morning, I sat down with the big kids and we wrote out our fall bucket list. Over the summer, we kept the list up in my office to make sure we did everything…and this fall, we’ll do the same. Hello fall fun!
My big girl. This is her life right now. This is one week shy of seven…
…Grace (the new American Girl Doll), rainbow loom bracelet making and coloring. This is a perfect snapshot of what Kensington looks like at this age :).
And then Smith wandered into the play room and sat down…and this is totally him at 5.5…holding a Ninja Turtle. He always has a Ninja Turtle with him :). I love both of these ages so much!
One smiling, one ducking.
I asked them what they wanted to do and with the exception of “go to Toys R Us and buy us lots of toys”, I wrote down everything. #nicetrysmith
Woohoo! It’s fall!
Please note that big sister is trying to color and little brother is TOUCHING HER. Because in our house, someone is ALWAYS touching someone else. #sigh
The front of our list…
…and the back :).
Many of our neighbors decorate outside for Halloween…so that’s what #10 is about. We’ll walk around and check out the spooky decor. I would also like to add that we’re planning on going to two different Oktoberfests…but that didn’t make the list. And by “Halloween shows” they mean It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown …I’m not showing them A Nightmare on Elm Street :).
Okay…what are some other things we could do? What are your favorite fall traditions??? Please comment and share!
Annnnnnd…
…it’s Meal Planning Monday Tuesday!

Happy Tuesday friends!

I put "chopping down a Christmas tree" under fall activities since it technically happens in the fall!
I'm SO excited for fall! I'm in London this week, which means boots and scarves and hot coffee….Texas will be a brutal shock for me next week 🙁

So fun! We love watching Hocus Pocus & delivering Halloween goodies to neighbors…our neighorhood "Boos" each other where we leave a basket of candy on someone's doorstep with a note that they have been "Boo'd". Then they have to refill the basket and pass it on to someone else. Pretty fun!

My 5 children are adults now with kids of their own. Our favorite family Fall tradition is our annual chilipalooza! Several of them are going to be running in a Turkey Stampede on Thanksgiving morning. We kicked off Fall with a pudgie pie smorgasboard over our firepit. I love Fall and all of our family times! I also go to a pumpkin farm (even as an adult), but it is an Amish pumpkin patch. Did I say that I love Fall?

Down here in Houston, "Boo-ing" is a big thing. We make fun treats and get little trinkets like mini play dohs in Halloween colors, fun bags, etc and then leave them outside our friends' doors. Always happens on October 1st 🙂

One of our fall bucket list items is to have our own drive in! We have a projector that we hook a little DVD player to, and we project a movie onto our garage door! Then we have friends over and we make snacks and everyone brings lawn chairs and we sit in our driveway and watch the movie outside. Its like our own little drive in, and its both adult and kid friendly! Who doesn't love to snuggle up in sweatshirts and watch a movie outside?! 😀

Here in Colorado our fall traditions always include a trip to the corn maze and a mountain drive to check out the changing Aspens. Also this is the best time of year for Zoo trips (Boo at the Zoo), plus the cooler weather brings out all the animals.

Love the activities on your fall bucket list! I think Ashby is going to love fall & Christmas in the Shull household!

Our bucket list is very similar to yours, but we also added to attend as many University of Georgia football games as we can, and to attend my high school's homecoming bonfire and football game. We love some football in our house!

Shay your blog has inspired me SO much to decorate for fall. Michael's had a big Labor Day sale this weekend on all their fall decor (plus extra coupons!) so I went a little crazy! I love how much you love the holidays. It put me into such a great mood reading your post today! I'm so excited for the weather to cool down and the pumpkins to come out!!

That's a great list! Have you guys ever been to the fall festival at Stonebriar Community Church in Frisco? That's our church and it is a blast every year! Our kiddos are 7 and 4 and it's their favorite fall activity. The church fills the parking lots with bounce houses, rock climbing walls, and the church is filled with games and candy inside 🙂 you guys should try it this year! 🙂

We go camping every year in Oak Glen. We get up early Saturday Morning and go to this adorable colonial breakfast and eat by candle and fire light. Then we go apple picking, pick pumpkins, press cider (and buy more to freeze!) and then go back to camp and carve the pumpkins outside at our camp table. We decorate camp really cute and all of the other campers do too. This will be our 6th year going. We decorate the house for Halloween, too!
Angela Ellingson says
Love this so much! We're excited for some of those activities as well as going to the apple orchard! 🙂

The Pumpkin Patch and Charlie Brown are big traditions for us. We're taking a fall vacation to Disney before our oldest starts kindergarten next year. That's the #1 thing on our bucket list! Our fair was the beginning of August so that's more of a summer activity around here (even though school started that same week).

Show them the Halloweentown movies with Debbie Reynolds! Promise you won't regret it! My friends are in their 20s and we still all love them and watch them for nostalgia's sake! 🙂

the ONE thing I miss about living in FL is that we don't have fall.. so I dont' get to do a lot of fall things…or see fall colors. I wish I could be a "fall bird" and fly north for the fall! ha
