Well…this whole post started with a bag of M&Ms.
Let me explain…
…Smith’s kindergarten class came down with a bad case of the stomach bug and so we were home-bound for 2 days. When it was finally time to re-enter the real world, we were all so ecstatic! We took a picture to commemorate our enthusiasm…and just so you know…sometimes, I take cute pics of my kids the first time and then other times, it looks like this…
So, after Ashby and I dropped the big kids off at school, we did what any normal American mom does after being stuck inside for two days…we went to Target.
It was 9:00 in the morning and as I was strolling along drinking my coffee, Erika texted me a picture of her that morning at the Rodan+Fields conference where it looked like she was at a rave (I’ve never been to a rave but I’m pretty sure they look like the morning meeting at the Rodan+Fields conference). She was like “this is what I’m doing” and I’m like “this is what I’m doing”. (I felt very lame compared to her morning.)
So, we were tootling right along through Target when I saw these…
…Pumpkin Spice M&Ms. The very first thing that popped in my head was “my ladies will love these” and by ladies, I mean you guys :). I often see something fabulous and immediately think of you ;). So, I threw a bag in my cart to take home and sample for you (it’s a tough job I have…eating M&Ms so that I can report back to you sweet readers).
The thing is, as I shopped, I threw a couple of other things in my cart and thought the same thing…my ladies will love this and that too. So, I was going to add these finds to my Friday Favorites post at the end of the week but by the time it was all said and done, I decided to just dedicated an entire post to the whole thing. So, here we go…
I’ve been drinking more plain coffee these days instead of lattes…so, I bought some pumpkin spice flavored coffee to get a little fall in my cup. That along with a little splash of this…
…and it tastes like a latte but a lot cheaper and without all the calories.
Okay, I was telling Narci and Erika about this skillet last week and needed a new one, so here you go…
…Rachael Ray makes my favorite non-stick skillet. Because of the volume of food we prepare in a day, we typically use and hand wash our skillet at least five times a day (Andrew’s breakfast, my breakfast, dinner, Andrew’s snack before bed, plus any other Mix and Match Mama recipe I make that day). Because we use ours more than average, we go through them more often…so, I’ve had the opportunity to try many non-stick skillets and Rachael’s is by far my favorite. Bonus fact, the handle is oven safe, so I can make something stove top and then let it brown in the oven without transferring it. Love it :).
I bought these boots for Ashby :). How cute are they?!
And…
…this tee was my favorite purchase. I plan on wearing it 31 days in a row ;). For a size reference, I bought a small.
So, I saw a bag of M&Ms and a post was born :). As for the M&Ms? Um, life changing. Yes, that’s right. I called an M&M life changing :). They are just like a plain M&M with just a hint of cinnamon. In other words, they’re perfect. And you know what? I think you girls are perfect too! I so enjoy doing life with you!
xoxo
Dinner tonight?
This is so simple! I promise you…you’ll love it!

So glad everyone is feeling better!!
Here in Bangkok, I have not seen anything pumpkin spice flavored. Interestingly, a popular snack food flavor here is "corn"!

Very European

Do tell, it tastes like what, corn?

Love the kid blooper real. I hear people say "you never take a bad pic of Carter". And I'm all, look at these 13 ones that suck before this awesome one! 🙂 Ashby will be precious in those boots, and I need that skillet. On my Friday Favorites this week, Skinny Cow snickerdoodle ice cream sandwiches. Um, yeah.

I LOVE the t-shirt!! What brand jeans are those because I love those, too!
Erika Slaughter says
Ashby- Girl is gonna rock those brown boots! And I just bought one of those skillets last week! Is it weird to say I'm looking forward to browning some ground beef?
Gucci Girl says
Hahaha, Erika! That made me laugh out loud! I would totally be excited about browning beef in a new skillet, too!
Sandra Litcher says
I have to run to target today to do a return and it looks like I need to buy that shirt! I already bought the kids Halloween shirts, why shouldn't I have one too 😉

Loved this whole post! I need to go to Target!!
Kammi says
I so need those M&Ms in my life! Sadly we do not get the different flavoured ones in South Africa … only the peanut and the chocolate ones. They do seem pretty drool worthy though.
Enjoy them and have some extras for your Saffa readers who cant have any :))
Mama Of Boys says
I'm loving the Halloween theme, England hasn't properly embraced Autumn and Halloween like you Americans, am determined to get a wreath of leaves for my fireplace this weekend…Lord knows where I'll find one but I'm on a mission!!

Lyndsey Parks says
I live in Houston and saw on the news that today is the first OFFICIAL day of Fall!!! (started at 3:20 am) Perfect post to celebrate! I know you will probably get asked this several times today so I am sorry in advance, but I just have to know what shoes you are wearing! I know I have seen you post about it previously but I can't seem to find it. Love the size of that skillet–always wondered if her pans were good quality so thanks for being our guinea pig 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
They were out at Nordstrom this past spring from Jessica Simpson, but they sold out quickly and never restocked. It's a shame bc they're super comfy!
KRISTIN TATE says
I just got these wedges at Belk, they are on the clearance table. I paid 28$, borderline free!

My relationship w Target is a love-hate one! LOVE to go there, HATE when I get all my stuff home and I realize that I got a ton of cute stuff, but I get so distracted that I never actually buy everything imon my list (which is usually stuff I actually need)!! My past trip to the grocery store I stumbled upon some Toasted Coconut Oreos and instantly thought of your blog…. I'm pretty sure you have a thing for coconut? I'm going to include them in my Friday faves, but in case you're curious: they are so good!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh my gosh! I'm totally going to try and find some of those TODAY! That sounds divine!
Nicole says
Love this! And all things pumpkin! It makes everyday more fun 🙂 Random, but so you still have your brownie everyday or have you found a new treat to end your day? Looking for inspiration! Also, fitness routine! I need inspiration in that area too. What do you do? Thanks! Looking forward to your reply 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
I did a post on my fitness routine! Check out my Shades of Shay tab at the top of my blog and then select "Fitness" :). And yes, I still eat a brownie every night :).
Taryn says
Target has a coupon for the pumpkin spice m&m's right now… As if we needed more of a reason to buy 🙂

When I saw your picture at Target I immediately thought back to the rave that Erika and I attended on Friday morning at 9:00 a.m. I'd never been to a rave either, but with a personal glowstick as a bracelet, I think I've now officially been! 🙂 Ha! That Taco Tort. looks AMAZING! Happy Wednesday!
Kristin says
Love the shirt! I saw that when I was in Target the other day. It apparently glows in the dark! 🙂
Casey Orr says
I love those boots! I've been trying to decide between the Target pair and a similar pair at Carters. Do you feel like the Target pair are easy to put on? For me that's always the selling point! How fast I can get them on, and could my toddler maybe possibly get them on herself! 😉
Kjlb37 says
I'm thinking another trip to Target might be necessary! Thanks, Shay:)
Donna says
I've always been curious about the Rachel Ray stuff but I didn't know anyone who personally owned any of her cookware, thanks for sharing your opinion! That tee is adorable, perfect for Halloween themed play dates! 🙂

Last week our group of girls were addressing baby shower invites and eating these M&M's!!! We also had the pecan pie ones. We all agreed the PS ones were better! Happy Fall!!

I love this post! I'm obsessed with all things pumpkin too! Is that Rachael Ray pan Teflon? I need a new pan and love how you can put that in the oven, but I try to avoid Teflon.
Susanbrown says
So the pumpkin coffee is yummy? I just drink regular coffee with flavored creamer. Do you add both the sugar cookie and pumpkin creamer? Sounds delicious for fall!!
Lauren @ My Slice of Life says
I am obsessed with the PSL M&Ms too! We need a recipe with them so I can stop eating them by the hand full!!! LOL 🙂
Lauri says
I live in NC and just returned home from a grocery store here called Food Lion where a huge display held so many things pumpkin it was unbelievable! Strangely missing, actual cans of pumpkin. I had to go over to the pudding aisle to grab a few cans, lol! Speaking of, I took my daughter to get her first PSL of the season on Sunday, she is 13 and had no clue anything had changed with their recipe. Anyhow…she declared it a big yuck and dumped half of it. I have never tried them, so not sure what it did/does taste like. Anyone have any feelings on this maybe we got a bad one?
LISACPARSONS says
I love Target and go there almost every Tuesday! LOL I spent too much time in there yesterday browsing all the Seasonal things! I want to try the pecan pie M&M's I picked them up but placed them back down and did not buy! YAY ME! Anyway, I hope you will check out my blog I posted a few pics of our Fall Decor. Stop by and say "hi" Thanks.

So…. I am a teacher and just ran to Target on my lunch break to get a pumpkin shirt! Love it…so classic and cute! Danielle

It is funny because recently when I'me out and about, I've seen things thay remind me of you! One was a book about Paris at the library and another was a paint called Kensington! ? So your readers think about you too! ?
Heather Ausburn says
I was recently given a bag of pecan pie m&m's and to my surprise-they were very good! I'll definitely be on the lookout for the pumpkin spice latte, can't wait to give them a try as well. I'll also be tracking down the sugar cookie creamer which will taste fabulous in my DD pumpkin coffee. Thanks for thinking of us while out shopping!
Tandra Schopf says
I will make a disclaimer for anyone searching for those delicious m&ms they are a target exclusive and cannot be found anywhere else! 🙂

LOVE your blog and your beautiful kids! Following you from Israel?
Lindsay at Lindsay'sSweetWorld says
YEEEEP, I just bought the same M&Ms when I went to Target on Monday!!!! I brought them back to work (along with some other pumpkin themed things) and my co-workers thought I was absolutely insane. Just for that, I didn't share with them. ;o)
Leigh Clark says
I begged my daughter to get those boots — but she was not into them. I love them!!!
Alli says
I love your blog & the target finds today! I esp love the fun festive shirt for me & the boots for my little girl. And when I need new cookware, I'll remember Rachel Ray. Only thing on the boots is when you click on the online link, there's a warning called prop 65 which basically says they're made w materials known to the state of calif to cause ca & reproductive harm. I'm always split on these things- is there unnecessary caution/hype today or is there really an increase in hazardous materials. It'd really be easier if target wouldn't carry stuff that may be questionable!
Brooke @ A Retherford Realization says
Gosh, girl. I'd give anything to look like you in that pumpkin shirt and I'm only 25! Oddly enough, whenever I don't want to work out, I always think to myself, "what would Shay do?"
Karen Ward says
I need that shirt!
Michelle Ragsdale says
great post…it's the little things =) …is all your cookware Rachael Ray?
Jessy Foster-lee says
Just texted my husband to call me 911. When he called I told him to stop by Target as I needed the pumpkin shirt and he must go immediately. He laughed and said girl, you are crazy! Thanks for sharing the shirt (#thepumkinshirt)

My fave part about those m&m's is that they have lasted at my house because my boys are not fans!!

So glad you posted about your skillet today – I just had to part with my last skillet from my Paula Deen set after it didn't survive today's wash. Very disappointed in the Paula Deen line I have been using – doesn't last long at all, and neither did what I used previously. So happy to hear the Rachael Ray skillet will hold up well! It's just my husband and I, and he hates breakfast, so if yours lasts a while with that much use, I'm excited to see how long it will last for us!
Stephanie says
Is the sugar cookie creamer as good as I am imagining right now?? 🙂
Leigh says
I bought the candy corn m&m's last year. They're good, but not good for my waistline! Rachael Ray makes the BEST non-stick cookware. I've been using it pretty much since it came out and love it! We do a lot of cooking as well and really holds up. Happy First Day of Fall! 🙂
Rebekah Lewis says
I'm glad I'm not alone on the "my girls" thing! I refer to the blogs I read as "my friend said" whenever I talk to family about it.
Jaren says
I love fun Target trips like that one! Glad everyone is better! That is the worst. And I'm glad you posted that skillet. I need a new one badly.

I love Target! I can spend hours there and the last time I was there I saw the candy corn m&m's and I should have bought them! The pumpkin spice ones looks delicious too!
Nerd Girl says
That t-shirt is too cute! Definitely stopping by Target this evening to scoop one up – can't wait!
Haley Southey says
absolutely obsessed with those Pumpkin Spice Latte M&Ms! A sweet friend of mine gifted a bag of them to me and I have been portioning/rationing them out because I. just. love. them.
Karen says
I love pumpkin everything too but I am sad to see that everything you posted has artificial flavors/colors in it. I am not a "organic everything" type of girl but I struggle to find the balance between enjoying treats and worrying what all the artificial man made stuff is going to do to our bodies long term (especially our kiddos). Do you ever worry about that? I am not trying to be a downer, just curious. I adore your blog and your adorable family.
Mix and Match Mama says
I'm a big believer in "all things in moderation". I don't worry about that stuff because it isn't the base of our diet…just a few little goodies here and there.
nikvik3 says
LOVE all things Pumpkin Spice!! I have a quick question…what size Clara is Ashby wearing in these pics? I bought it for my little DD as well, but I'm thinking it's going to be way too big for when I'm wanting her to wear it (birthday pics)! Thanks! 🙂
Chase and Elise says
You have to try pumpkin bagels with cinnamon cream cheese…. It is to die for! Perfect fall morning treat!
Jenna Sorensen says
very random question – but what material did you use on the exterior of your house?! We are going to be building our home and I love the look of yours!
Mix and Match Mama says
It's brick and cast stone. Have a great day!

I think I need that shirt (and the M & M s) in my life!
