‘Tis the season for Jammy Cocoa Christmas!
My dad created this name years and years ago and now, it’s a tradition I do with my kids each year. We put our pajamas on, go into Starbucks, get a drink and a treat, and then get back in the car and look at lights while listening to carols. Jammy Cocoa Christmas is one of those traditions we look forward to each and every year. I love my dad and his silly tradition ;). There’s nothing like walking into Starbucks in your pjs!
My three little crazies before we walked into our Starbucks. Hyper much?
Ashby’s “what in the world are we doing?” face…
…and then three really excited faces!
While we were ordering, Smith was like, “Ashby, if you scratch my back, I’ll scratch yours.”…
…y’all…these two are so stinkin’ funny together! They’re a real mess!
Lots of love.
We sat down a minute while we waited on them to call our name.
Ahhhhh! So much fun! Side note, Smith also has the boy version of the girls’ pajamas (they’re from Gymboree), but he said he needed to wear his old pair on this night because it made him look like Kevin from Home Alone. #thatkid
Three hot chocolates to go!
They’re so excited :).
Our official Jammy Cocoa Christmas picture. Love my little family so very much!
And if you’re interested in my dad’s little tradition…
For dessert this Christmas season…
Yes. Yes. Yes.
And bonus…it’s super simple and quite the show stopper on any dessert table.
Happy Wednesday friends!

Such a fun tradition. Those memories will be more precious than any gifts that the kids ever receive. Merry Christmas!

Thank you for sharing this tradition. We just completed our first one and it became our new favorite tradition; it was a blast! (I think the selfie has to be added as new rule too!) Kudos to you and your Dad Shay!

I'm excited we are doing this this year with our three bonus kids (our nanny and our two "mannies"). Our babysitters keep graduating and going to college, but they never quit being a part of our family. I asked them to start this tradition with us, and everyone is excited!

We are starting this tradition in our family! We are going this weekend. Last year, we ran out of time. We are going with our family and her best friend's family … all in one car! The dads are needing some coaxing to get in their jammies but the kids are begging! Thank you to you for sharing this tradition, one that is so simple, yet memorable!!
Leigh (Balancing By Faith) says
Such a fun tradition….I would LOVE to do this with my kids – is there anything you can order that is caffeine free – that a 6 & 8 year old would still enjoy!?!?
CAR08CMR10 says
My little guy loves the vanilla steamer. It's yummy!
Christi says
Leigh,
Kids drink which are less than $1.50. I think you can get hot cocoa, apple cider and a vanilla steamer. Be sure to ask for a kids drink because it's cheaper, smaller and at kid temperature.
Rose says
Yep, everyone I knew growing up did this and my mom's family when she was a kid. No rules or lists, nothing new but just go have fun with the family, how every you like.
Unfortunately, the PJs in public thing has turned into a daily event at Walmart. Oh well.
Merry Christmas everyone.

LOVE IT! Over here our local coffee place is a Costa, do you think we're allowed to swop out the coffee provider?!

One of my favorite activities as a kid was going to look at Christmas lights. The car always magically ended up at Dairy Queen afterwards!
I'm sure lots of people would love to use your Jammy Cocoa rules graphic-would it be possible to correct the word "pajmas" to pajamas?
Mix and Match Mama says
Haha! I've used this graphic for three years now and you're the first person to point that out! I'll have to make a new one for next year. Merry Christmas!
Katie says
It's the curse of being a former English teacher! #thestruggleisreal Merry Christmas to you too. What a special time it will be celebrating Ashby's first Christmas in her forever family!

Hehe, I love how almost every picture has a blurry arm or head or leg because they're moving around so darn much! Looks about like my whole camera roll!

I love this tradition with Starbucks! We always did this as kids but never with a treat. My husband and I are starting this tradition with Starbucks now, too! Another thing we started last year that will be a new tradition is going to a big light show and eating Mexican food beforehand!
I wrote about my favorite blogs this morning and talked about both of yours. I would love for you to check it out today!

Sunday night is our Jammy cocoa Christmas although I do admit that my husband refuses to go into Starbucks in his jammies! So we compromise and go thru the drive thru. I guess we are losers! LOL

I love this. I started this similar tradition with my son 16 years ago when he was a baby. We would wear our pajamas, eat popcorn while we drive around looking at likes. He doesn't go as often now but my daughter who is 6 now LOVES it!
