Here’s a little look at our life lately…
…Ashby wanted to slurp spaghetti with her daddy the other night at dinner. This girl.
Smith got Hedbanz for Christmas, so we’ve been playing at night before bed. You’re supposed to ask questions and see if you can guess what’s on your head. The problem with my kids is that when they answer the questions, they act it out too (like charades), so it’s always super easy to tell what’s on your head!
Even Ashby has been playing :).
Typical Hedbanz shenanigans! Cocoa, fire and game night is our favorite!
Ashby has been working on puzzles. She was super proud when she completed this Sofia one!
Walking home from school on Friday. Everyone was happy because it was the weekend!
I went into my closet and all of the clean laundry was dumped on the floor…I went into the kitchen and found this. She was sitting in her “boat” watching Silly Booty. (A.k.a. Sleeping Beauty)
Friday night at the snow cone place. It was 37 degrees out and apparently, we were the only ones interested in snow cones, so the kids played around and entertained themselves. I spy a Slaughter kid in the middle of those Shulls…
Saturday morning we had basketball, lunch on our town square and hit the candy store. Take one.
Take two.
Take three.
Saturday night, both Kensington and Smith each had birthday parties, so Andrew and I took the opportunity to go on a romantic date. Plus one. The three of us had a great dinner out! We enjoyed our one on one time with our baby girl.
Ahhhhhh…and then on Sunday night, we really did go on a date! We decided a dinner out minus the munchkins was in order. The two of us plus our favorite restaurant (Eddie V’s for any of you Dallas people) was just how we needed to wrap up our weekend.
Our Monday vibes.
Smith had his 6 year well visit on Tuesday afternoon, so I took him while Andrew picked up the girls from school. Even though it was just a well visit, we sure did have fun together. It’s nice to have one on one time with my boy!
I speak Ashby fluently and rarely ever have a hard time understanding her, but on Tuesday evening, she kept asking me for something and I couldn’t understand what it was. She knew I was trying to guess and grinned really big every time she said the word. She knew she was saying it right…and she knew I was trying to get it, so her grin was extra big and super cute! Finally, I realized that she wanted marbles. Smith has some marbles in his room and she was asking me to play with them. So…here is my girl playing with marbles. I’m not sure I will ever get over the fact that I get to be her mom. It catches my breath sometimes. How cool is God that he can make a girl born on the other side of the world mine? It’s amazing. Adoption is amazing.
So…that’s life lately at the Shull house!
For dinner tonight…
…Ranch Chicken & Mushrooms in the slow cooker!
Need a quick supper recipe? Here you go!

Yay! So happy that your post is up cause I needed a break from all this studying. Pulled an all nighter tonight and now I'm about to get ready for a long day of classes (8:30am-7pm) with no breaks in between. 🙁 love reading your post every morning 🙂 Ashby is definitely flourishing & Kensington and Smith are such great older siblings!! You guys are so blessed! Seeing Ashby play with marbles reminded me of my childhood with my siblings. We always played with marbles. 🙂

Also, your dinner tonight looks so delicious!!!! Can I come over tonight?! Lol!

We love Headbanz around these parts!! I think those kinds of games are way more fun than a board game. Know what I mean??
Mama Of Boys says
I find it incredible how Mamas know what their babies are saying. The other day I could hear Baby babbling to his Daddy and Daddy kept saying 'buddy, I don't know what you'd like, can you show me??' and Baby was just saying the same thing over and over (and getting quite cross at Daddy's stupidity!!) I called through, he wants a banana in a green bowl, and bam, so he did!! I knew it straight off the bat 😉

Olivia calls them "narbles"! I actually fill a jar with a handful of them when they do errands or act nice…..remove for behavior problems. When the jar is full, we do something really fun. It is an trick from teaching kindergarten and they love it!! I wrote about it on my blog, but it was a while back ;). Two days until Disney!!

That Ashby story is precious. Headbanz is one of our faves too. When we first started playing it Carter was so young (I had it at home for a therapy game to work on language)…and every time one of us put something on our head he would just call it out. He would go "It's a tractor! Oops." Every. Single. Time. 🙂

Ashby is so photogenic! I just love her faces in all those pics.

Your hair is soooo pretty Shay. Is it naturally curly or do you roll it. I also really love the way you did your hair at Smith's appointment. How did you do it?

So nice that you got to spend some time with just you and your little man. Loving the pic of Ashby in the laundry basket! When my boys were little they used to love pretending a laundry basket was car or boat, so fun!!!
Can you please share where Kensington's pink coat (the one she's wearing in the candy store) & her peach colored outfit (the one where she's got a gray bow in her hair) are from? Thanks.

This had me laughing out loud a few times ("silly booty"). Your kids are precious. I need to look for the headbanz game! I think it would be a hit over here, too. Thanks for sharing your life! And I love what you said about adoption…that God took a little girl from the other side of the world and made her yours. Amazing!

I love that you said it catches your breath sometimes. I'm a 32 year old adoptee from Korea, and being adopted still catches my breath sometimes. God is just so good. How he can orchestrate this perfect plan for my life and I can end up halfway around the world in the perfect family for me. So incredibly humbled by that part of His plan!

You need the headbanz act out game! It's my kids favorite game, they like it so much better than regular headbanz!
