Oh Friday. I needed you.
Just like every Friday, today, I’m linking up with Narci, Erika and Andrea and sharing some of my favorite things from this week.
Happy happy happy Friday!
This. Starts. Today!!!!!!
Oh my goodness! If you are looking for me, please don’t bother. I will be ignoring my family and binge watching Fuller House. I feel like I’m 12 again. I am so excited!!!
Okay, so I think this only applies to people in my area…but look around because maybe there is one in your area too. On Satruday, Narci texted Erika and me and told us that she had just used a service called Pedia Q to come to her house and diagnose Presley instead of taking Presley into the urgent care center. Narci was raving about this. Fast forward to Monday when Smith came home and didn’t feel well. So, I downloaded the app (like Narci told me to) and within 20 minutes they were at my house.
Y’all…they came to my house.
For no extra charge.
Instead of taking my three kids to the urgent care place (because at this point, it’s 4:00 PM and we can’t get in to see our pediatrician) and possibly exposing the healthy ones to germs, Smith was able to nap on the couch until the PA arrived, Kensington was able to do her homework and then get ready for jazz (Erika was coming to get her) and Ashby was able to just play. The PA was super, super sweet, she came in, took Smith’s temp (he was running a fever), gave him a strep test, confirmed that it was strep and then called in his prescription to our pharmacy. On top of being so nice, she gave Smith a stuffed animal and was so engaging with all three kids. Then the next day, she texted me twice to check on him. And this didn’t cost me a penny more than a trip to the urgent care (which is where I would have had to have gone).
I don’t know about you…but I feel like my kids never get sick during regular office hours for our pediatrician, I feel like it’s always on the weekends or at night and now, I’m spoiled rotten with this service. They emailed me the bill as soon as they left and there was zero up charge. Life. Changer. DFW friends, download the app…other friends, google this. I bet there is something similar near you too.
Dear weather,
You confuse me every day. Some mornings, when I wake up, the temperature is 63. Other mornings, it’s 36. I don’t know what to wear and I’m about to just put on yoga clothes and wear them around all the time to simplify things. And I have no plans to go to yoga. Please decide where you are going to be and stay. The weather is killing my allergies and making it hard to get dressed every morning.
Sincerely yours,
Me
I put this little outfit on the other morning and then went to let the dog out and realized it was a little too chilly…
…so, I came back in and added a sweater. Layers are my friend during this transitional weather.
So, the gingham shirt comes from J Crew. They make the best button up shirts and I always love their gingham (it comes in several colors and I always buy a 2 just for a size reference) and then I know I’ve told you about my sweater approximately 4 billion times, but it’s J Crew’s Tippi Sweater and over the years, I have bought about two a year…which means, I have approximately 35. They always look cute with or without a layer underneath. Right now, they come in 17 different colors.
And my flats. I. love. my. flats. I don’t know you Tory Burch but if I met you, I would kiss you. Your flats are so comfy! They’re called “foldable” because they pack up nice and flat when you travel…but if I’m traveling, I’m not packing these babies, I’m wearing them in the airport because they’re easily removed (thank you security) and they’re so comfy! I can walk (or run) from gate to gate in these! Love them. They come in 12 different colors.
Speaking of shoes…my new wedges came yesterday! Eeeks! Okay, online it says to order a half size down, which I did, and they fit like a glove! I cannot wait to take them on my vacation and then wear the heck out of them all spring and summer long!
If you prefer a shorter heel (I know some of you do), here is another Steve Madden option for you with a smaller heel (I love Steve Madden wedges because they’re always comfy!)…
Cute, right?! And the wedge isn’t quite as tall.
This week, I did a post called What’s Your Number about the hardest transition kiddo for you. Was it going from one kid to two? Two to three? Three to four? For us, it was none to one. That. Was. So. Hard. If you haven’t shared your number with us, click here and comment! Also, if you’re currently in the middle of your hard transition kiddo, read the comments. I promise you, you will be encouraged :).
A little Easter recipe for your weekend…
…Chocolate Carrot Cupcakes.
Yes.
There is a veggie hiding in that cupcake.
Easter means carrot cake, so this year, I made my carrot cake cupcakes with a twist…they’re chocolatey! Click here for the recipe.
That’s my Friday Favorites for you!
Happy weekend friends!

Eek!!! Fuller House finally! I feel like I've been waiting for years! Your wedges are so cute. They'll look even better….on a cruise! Ha! We're counting down the days!
Danielle says
Pedia Q isn't available in my area. Boo! However, on their website it says that the charge us your copayment plus a $50 convenience charge. So, there is an uncharge for using the service. What a great idea though!
Love the wedges!
Mix and Match Mama says
It must depend on your insurance because our E-care co-pay is $75 and all they charged me was $75. Trust me, I triple checked! They didn't up charge Narci either.
Narci says
They didn't upcharge me either!! I saw the same thing on their website Danielle, but I was so relieved to see that they didn't charge anything extra at all–just my urgent care copy! So, so convenient, and the PA was fabulous! Perfect for simple issues like: does our kiddo have strep, etc? Love it!!
Courtney says
I have a friend who markets for pedia Q and they have been waving the convienance charge for the first visit. Sometimes they will have specials and not charge it for a whole month.
The Lewis Family says
I have a friend that used this about 6 weeks ago and I went ahead and signed up for it. They didn't charge her the first visit at all AND the PA offered to go get the prescription for her and bring it back. When I signed up our family, it appeared that the visit would be free too. So wonderful to have the option of this instead of urgent care!!
Allison says
Yesssssss to Fuller House!!! And stop it right now with this Pedia Q thing! Downloading it immediately! Thank you!
Tali says
Fuller House…yes, yes yes!!!!

In definitely seeing if we have something like that in our area. That is awesome and so convenient with sock kiddos after hours!!! And I'm with you on the TB shoes…love them ! And we are all pretty excited over here about Fuller House. Have a great weekend
IsntThatGrand says
Pedia Q sounds like an amazing service! Through our insurance, we have the option to video chat with a doctor through Live Health Online and it's a great option for a quick diagnosis for things like strep – that could be a good option for folks who don't have Pedia Q. And, I love the kelly green/blue gingham combo! Sounds like you're just as ready for Friday as I am 🙂

That is an amazing service! No in Illinois yet but I bet it will catch on quickly.

I live out in the country, so I doubt Pedia Q will ever be here, but AWESOME idea! I have 4 children with a traveling husband. This sounds super helpful!
Fuller House! 😀 I bought the file the complete series of Full House for Christmas! So we're ready!

any other suggestions for really comfy ballet flats – the Tory Burch pricepoint is really high ($322 for us Canadians). I LOVE my skecher go walks for travel but would really like to have something to go along with them that are a bit "prettier" for a bit more dressy travel outfits. A good pair of comfy black ballet flats would be awesome.
Kerry says
Crocs are incredibly comfortable. Here are some ballet flats that come in black and other colors: http://www.crocs.com/p/crocs-kadee/11215.html?cgid=women-footwear-flats&cid=5M1#start=13 I'm actually wearing that style (but in junior's sizing, not women's) today in a silver glitter finish. 🙂

If anyone is in Denver my husband started a similar doctor on demand service (all emergency room physicians) called Yodel health!
Emily Edmonds says
As a physician assistant myself, I am so happy to hear that you had such wonderful care with a PA! Hope your little guy is feeling better soon! Love reading your posts everyday. Enjoy your weekend with your family
Laura says
We use teledoc a ton! Wouldn't work for strep but it is still awesome!
brookerichardson says
Thanks for the Fuller House reminder!!!! Can't wait for that!!! Will absolutely be checking out Pedia Q as well.
Angela Ellingson says
Shay, you lost me after the Fuller House reminder… Just kidding! But I'm heading there now. So excited! Happy Friday!
Jenny says
I feel like I need to sign up for Netflix, just so I can watch Fuller House. Have a great weekend!
Jess Deisher says
Fuller House binging all night. BYE
Have a good weekend Shay!

PediaQ. What an amazing concept! My mom is a PA and I want her to retire or take in less of a role in her job- she works like a dog and is considered the Dr. in her small town. This would be perfect for her!!! I'm sure SD will get this service in about 5 years!!
Queen In Between says
Pedia Q…how awesome is that?!!
Laci Murray says
This Pedia Q sounds like one genius mom invented it!! How awesome is that service?? Wow!! Praying they have one in my area, how awesome. Have a great weekend!
Christina Adamson says
Is the footbed in the Tory Burch flats cushioned? I had a pair of the TB Caroline flags and hated them. They were the most uncomfortable shoes and had a very hard footbed with zero cushion. I love the look of her shoes, but if I am going to pay that much, they have to be comfy!!
Scavenger Hunt Blog says
Pedi Q sounds ANAZING!! I really hope it is in our area. I'm with ya on the weather. I'm just ready for some very warm sunny weather.

Wish that service had been around when my children were little. Fuller House! Will be binge watching this weekend.
Life with Team Morris says
I'm so excited about Fuller House too!
MrsBees says
Pediatric Q sounds amazing. We always walk away from the pediatricians office with a new heebie jeebie. When I was on immunosuppressant infusions it saved me a $200 office copay having a home health nurse administer them in my home rather than going to an infusion clinic. Insurance can be weird sometimes.
kristen g. says
Pedia Q sounds amazing! I have my youngest home sick with flu and trying to come up with a contingency plan if the other one gets sick! Too bad it's only in Texas! I hope they expand and soon!!
Melanie Smith says
Im attending a Fuller House Marathon party tonight and donning my closest 90s ensemble I can come up with. Can't wait!
Angela Pino says
I've already watched the first 3 episodes and may or may not have cried during the premiere!
Lauren Honeycutt says
I'm SO excited for Fuller House! If people try to talk to me tomorrow while I'm watching the show, they're gonna get it! Also, the PediaQ service sounds amazing! I hope that it'll be in my area by the time I have little ones!
Johnsons says
Oh my goodness, I need that service!!! I submitted a request for my area…thank you for letting us know about it :-). Thank you for the lower heel option too :-). Any chance you have some sweaters you love that aren't wool (just saying the word makes me itch…even cashmere :-(. Have a great weekend!
Lindsay at Lindsay'sSweetWorld says
FULLER HOUSE!!!! I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS DAY FOR MONTHS!!!!
Leigh (Balancing By Faith) says
Isn't it funny – that apparently we are going full circle to the days when a doc came to your house and diagnosed you? I would LOVE that service too!! And honestly, when my kids were much younger would have paid the $50 convenience charge in a heart beat! Happy Friday!!
Cassie {Hi Sugarplum} says
I was JUST at j.crew factory YESTERDAY adding to my gingham collection…at some point I'll have every color in the rainbow, but they're just so good! You look adorable in them! And do you deliver those cupcakes???? Let me know and I'll get you my address!
Simply A Rough Draft says
Pedia Q sounds amazing! I wish I would have read your post before I took my son to the pediatrician this morning! Now, if only someone would come to my house & fill my car with gas!!
Question: Do you not feel confined wearing a button up & sweater? I feel like I'm doing something wrong when I wear it because I feel so restricted & bunched up!! It's a cute look though!
Brianna says
Need those wedges!!! Also, I just finished watching the first 2 episodes of Fuller House! Love it so far!

Thank you so much for the shorter wedge suggestion!!!!

PediQ is the most brilliant idea ever!!! one of my most hated motherly duties is taking my kids to the doctor. Ha!! Does that make me terrible?? I hate going. Hopefully they will come to my area soon!!
