Shull girls.
That night, we attended our school’s annual family Valentine’s dance. Remember last year? Ashby had been home less than a month and yet, went crazy on the dance floor? This girl LOVES to dance! Well, as soon as we walked in…she was off…
Three Shull girls dancin’!
Friday night at the dance! We had so much fun!
We left with pretty feet, picked up the boys and headed to Dallas for their Chinese New Year Celebration in the Dallas Arts District. We met up with my parents, Sean and Catherine and had the BEST time! The weather was gorgeous (like 65), so we were really able to soak it all in.
The year of the monkey. Please note, Ashby even wore her monkey shoes for the occasion :).
It’s blurry and crazy…but this was the best pic I got on Valentine’s morning. The kiddos came down to a festive breakfast, a mini box of chocolates and one little treat. They were super pumped it was Valentine’s Day! They also had made both myself and Andrew a Valentine’s Day card…and placed a dollar in each one. Since they couldn’t drive to the store and get us gifts, they said they wanted us to have money. I mean, I feel like one blessed mama to have these kids :).
Mama Of Boys says
I love how you're all wearing red and pink for Valentine's, I don't think we'd be able to find one item of red clothing between us…shall attempt to rectify that before next year!!
Paige says
Their school does the cutest things! Love that they had a dance!

What a great weekend! You guys were busy! And I LOL'd when you said the kids talked you into hibachi. Those Shull kids can put down some hibachi!

Looks like a great weekend! Also Andrew is growing out a beard?? Happy Monday Shay 🙂

Aw!! What a fun weekend!! Loving all of the pictures from the dance!!

Such a happy weekend. You managed to cram so much fun into just a short couple of days. And I just have to say I think you are so pretty but in that after church photo you look absolutely radiant. Get it girl. 🙂

What a great weekend!!!!! Love the pics of y'all at the Chinese New Year celebration! Our weekend was WAY more low key, but it included tacos…twice, so I was okay. Remind me to tell you about the sock hop at Carter's school. It ended with us going home abruptly because we thought Carter might have a concussion. Seriously.
JJaz says
!!!!! Did he break dance?

Went to Barnes and Noble to get your books…SOLD OUT in Cookeville, TN, sister! Way to go! They thought they had ONE of the Cakes books left, but the cashier and I searched and searched and couldn't find it. Anyway, easy to order it 🙂
Lynn {A Taste of Country} says
What a great weekend! Your family is precious. Also, I'm not sure I've ever seen pictures of Andrew with facial hair

The picture of Ashby and Kensington hugging after being apart for 6 whole hours is so sweet! And the fact that they gave you a dollar for Valentine's Day since they couldn't get to the store, oh my goodness, be still my heart! That is the cutest thing. Feel better, sweet Ashby!
Andrea Terrell says
We went to Benihana's. Hands down my daughters favorite place to go. Y'all are lucky siblings can go to class parties. Our school does not allow that. Looks like a good weekend.
Farryn says
Sweet pictures of your valentines! We had your red velvet pancakes for Valentine Day Breakfast for Dinner! 😉 Our nephews, sister and brother-in-law came over for dinner. It was so much fun! Everyone came in their Jammies and had pancakes ! ! Thanks for the yummy recipe!

I used to think Valentine's Day was lame-o and totally refused to participate. But with kids EVERYTHING is so much more fun! Even completely made up Hallmark holidays. 🙂

I'm really curious what it is like for you being out with Sean and Catherine in public. Do they get recognized a lot or do people pretty much ignore them? I would imagine in a crowd like that, there would be a lot of people coming up for autographs and whatnot. Still, they don't seem reluctant to be out and about so maybe there aren't a lot of interruptions?
Mix and Match Mama says
People sometimes come up and say hi (they're always really sweet!). It's not really an issue. Sometimes, people say hi and get a picture but it's nothing Sean and Catherine seem to mind. People are always so sweet and sincere when they meet them.
Michelle K says
Such cute pictures. Andrew looks so different with a beard. Is Catherine feeling well? Love baby news. ..I can't believe Sarah was at the dance. I think I could hardly walk after my kids were born! Let alone wearing real clothes 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
Catherine is doing fantastic!! And Sarah…she's a rock star, right?!

What a sweet idea to have a family Valentine's dance! And your friend, Sarah, is a rockstar! No way could I have made it to a dance a couple days after giving birth!
Leigh (Balancing By Faith) says
Your family picture from the Chinese festival is so good!! My daughter asks for Hibachi on a daily basis….but really she just wants a recipe for Yum Yum sauce to put on everything at home – you have one of those??
Ms Moore says
They sell this at grocery stores and Asian markets
Trent and Richelle says
I made your red velvet cake bars and my whole family LOVED them! Thanks! Also, what kind of countertops do you have? I'm kind of in love with them.
Allison O says
I'm sure your doc knows way more, but I gof swimmer's ear all the time from floating in the bath tub during the winter! Who know how sweet Ashby got it but glad she could still dance through it!
Lisa says
Shay, My kids both swam competitively for years. Have you tried any over the counter swimmer's ear drops? Both of my kids kept them in their swim bags to use after practice and they worked GREAT!!! Once you use what comes in the bottle, some bottles are made so you can refill them with a mixture of half rubbing alcohol and half vinegar. So cheap and easy and I'm 99% sure you have those 😉 So as I'm looking at your pics it caught my eye that your pedi place has a fountain soda machine (Yes, that's they crazy thing I noticed) That's so AWESOME! #callmeweird
