Hey there Thursday.
We’ve spent our week with basketball camp in the mornings and randomness in the afternoons. Here’s a little look at life lately…
On the very first official day of summer, we had jet lag and wanted to take big naps. Instead, we swam and kept ourselves awake until 8:00 #winning. These two are basically fish. They love to be in the pool!
I took a picture because…she just looks so darn old here. Something happened during first grade that caused her to grow exponentially. Love this girl so much.
It’s often puzzle mania on summer afternoons around here.
And sometimes puzzle mania on summer mornings too.
Erika and I took the six kiddos to our local water park last week and had a BLAST!
The Sox were in town playing the Rangers, so I took the big kids and we met my dad at Friday night’s game. Obviously one of my kids was confused about where he was…

Ha! We were running errands on Saturday morning and look what we found in a store! They were selling my cookbooks. Fun, right? (And pssssst: don’t forget, you can order my cookbooks on Amazon here.)
This boy. He’s just so sweet.
And PS: in case of an emergency, Smith is to report to life boat #11. His life boat bracelet from our ship (the kids were required to wear them) finally came off two days ago. He asked me to keep it forever. Funny kid.
The kids all fell asleep watching a movie the other night, so we left them alone. This is the girls the next morning. Ashby’s little head is right under the chair.
First day of basketball camp this week! They couldn’t stop wrestling and Kensington took a purse with her. Yup. Seems about right.
Ahhhhh! Sweet Ashby had a doctor visit this week that required a shot. She asked for a cake pop when it was over…and who am I to deny such a sweet request from such a brave girl?
Everyone getting all geared up for a family bike ride after dinner. Andrew was airing up Kensington’s tires, so we took a pic while we waited. We love riding bikes at night!
Well, that’s a little look at life lately. We are loving summer right now. Loving. It. So. Much.

Kensington does look WAY TOO OLD in that pic! Love these lazy summer days. The fact that tomorrow is July makes me want to bawl. The summer is flying by!

I really love the new layout – really easy to navigate and it just looks nice!

I love the new blog! Question: where do you find puzzles like the ones pictured? Thanks! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh goodness! Random places like Hobby Lobby, Amazon and Target!

I’m very upset that our oldest daughters look so freaking grown up. STOP. JUST STOP.

Your new blog design is seriously my favorite! I love how clean and easy to navigate it is! Great job, Shay! And on another note, I love how the girls slept during movie night–that seems like something my little sister and I would have done when we were younger!

Smith looks so tan in the picture of him with the hat! Despite the amount of sunscreen I put on her, my baby is getting tanner and tanner and I just think it is so cute! Little copper tone babies! Ps – I am loving the blog design!

Where did you buy Kensington’s necklace (in the pic of her with pink shirt)?
Holly says
Random question for you:
the chairs the girls are sleeping in/under..are those recliners? And if so, could you share where you purchased them? Looking for some that will blend with our existing furniture and those could work! 😉 Thanks so much!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! They are! They’re from Restoration Hardware!

I have a daughter one grade ahead of Kensington, and I am loving her fun outfits she is wearing! Would you want to do a post about her outfit/style? I know about Matilda Jane but my 8 year old is getting more into the comfy casual athletic style that I see here on Kensington…could be a fun post idea??
Megan Butler says
Kensington has grown exponentially this year!!! And I love that Smith wore his bracelet for so long!!!

I understand that any transition to a new web design will have its kinks to work out. However, I’m really not liking the new layout. It’s crowded and very hard to read. Also having the comments centered makes it difficult to read and to see who is replying to who. As a reader, I would like to see one post featured on the homepage (without having to click on each post), all the comments left-aligned, larger font in the body of the post, a more consistent font type throughout, and some sort of differentiation between the post and what’s going on in the sidebar. Just my two cents.

I had a rough morning and seeing your sweet kiddos was just what I needed! Thanks for sharing them with us! And Kensington taking a purse to basketball camp — so adorable!

Kensington’s purse at camp is cracking me up… sounds like me when I was younger! I used to drag my purse EVERYWHERE from a very young age and half of the time I would end up leaving it behind. I can’t even tell you how many times we had to drive back to a restaurant to retrieve my purse that I had left behind in the booth! Haha.

I love your rug in the room the kids fell asleep in for the movie. Do you mind sharing where it’s from?
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you! It’s from Pottery Barn!

Hi Shay! Love the new layout! Quick question….can you tell us where you got that cute sun hat that smith is wearing?
Mix and Match Mama says
Ha! It’s my dad’s. He stole it off my dad’s head and wore it all day ;).

I love that you updated your site, but I wish the navigation bar at the top wasn’t fixed because it gets in the way of pictures. I can’t see a whole picture on the page anymore. 🙁
Mix and Match Mama says
Wait! Explain a little more and I’ll try and fix it! I can see whole pictures (and if you click them, they enlarge).
Tracy says
Hi! I read your blog all the time and I love it! 🙂 Can you please tell me where you got the faux (assuming) fur throws in the picture above?
