Um, so this was thrown together in minutes (hence the quick and not too spectacular photograph). I woke up Sunday morning and remembered that I was supposed to have made a breakfast casserole the night before for church, so I took the sausage from said casserole, crescent rolls and Gouda and turned them into this: little bites of heaven. You can make these for a quick breakfast, for an appetizer, or a quick little lunch. Easy, easy, easy and oh so yummy!
This recipe yields 24 roll ups.
Shopping List
1 pound of breakfast sausage (I used Owen’s)
about 2 cups of shredded Gouda cheese (or sub with your favorite cheese)
3 cans of crescent rolls
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or foil (for easy clean up) and lightly spray with cooking spray. Set aside.
Brown your sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once browned and crumbly, stir in your shredded cheese. Stir just a minute until the cheese is melted.
Take each crescent roll triangle and lay it flat. Add a little bit of your cheesy sausage mixture down in the center and then roll up. Place on your prepared baking sheet and repeat.
Pop your baking sheets in the oven and bake about 9 minutes.
Remove and serve immediately.
Listen, come football season, I imagine myself nibbling on these while watching Kansas State play. And trust me, they’re a crowd pleaser. They were gone in seconds at church!
