Life lately has been a little more exciting than normal. My new book arrived at my door, I headed to LA to film a cooking segment on Hallmark’s Home & Family show and then the boys headed out to NYC to see the Yankees play. It’s a crazy fun way to wind down summer (insert me crying here).
The week after the surgeries was full of recovering and not our usual more active evening activities…so, I found myself on the couch watching shows with my four favorite people in the world more often.
After being homebound for 10 days, we ventured out to Drybar to get our hair all fixed up. No reason in particular…I just love me a good wash and dry and this time, I brought along my favorite girls. They LOVED it!
Ashby was adorable! She might end up working at Drybar one day…it apparently is her happy place. They were way too hyper and excited to stand still for a picture…but trust me when I say, their hair looked fabulous.
Look what arrived at my door…Eats! My third cookbook hits bookstores October 1, but you can pre-order your copy today! I turned in this manuscript on November 1 of last year, so it was a fun surprise to see it all put together. All new recipes, photographs and ideas for your kitchen broken down by month…so there are 12 chapters in the book (January through December). I’m super pumped about Eats!
I found this little gem in my bag when I was in LA. Apparently, Smith wanted me to have a happy one day vacation ;). Being a mom is so fun! I arrived in LA on Sunday night, checked into my hotel, ordered room service, watched the Olympics and went to bed. I woke up the next morning and we headed out to…
…the Hallmark Home & Family house! This was so much fun! They actually built a real house right there on the Universal lot. After we drove through security, we drove around all of the movie sets and outdoor prop towns and found this little house nestled right in there. It has everything from a garage to laundry room, dining room, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchen, living areas and both a front and backyard seating area. Super fun!
Here I am chatting with Debbie Matenopoulos. She could not have been sweeter…and she was stunning. She told me she always wanted to be a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader when she was younger…and I was like, “you should have been a supermodel”. Gorgeous inside and out!
In the kitchen with Meal Planner and Cakes.
Ha! Excuse the water on my dress. The sink just sprayed me right before this pic ;).

As soon as I was done taping, I headed straight to the airport and flew home to see my babies.
The next night, after dinner, we played golf, took showers, watched the Olympics and ordered a pizza because there are only a few days left of summer break and we need to make the most of them!
So, that’s a little life lately.

First of all, congratulations on another beautiful cookbook and an always beautiful family.
This is going to be the most ridiculous question you’ve ever gotten, but I just gotta ask how you keep from getting deodorant marks on your dark clothes? I noticed you didn’t have any of those white, chalky marks on a black sleeveless top a while back and decided it was probably crossing the line to ask what kind of deodorant you use. But then this sleeveless navy dress and not a mark in sight! How do you do it? I love sleeveless tops and dresses, but always struggle with either the white, chalky marks or the greasy look left on the fabric from gel deodorants.

I just found some time to catch up on my DVR and you were awesome on Home & Family! I got super excited during your segment and The Hubster asked what was happening. When I told him I knew you, he looked at me doubtfully. So I said that I read her blog and we’re friends in my head. lol Congratulations on everything! Can’t wait for the book!
