It’s the weekend of Halloween. I can just hear Michael Jackson singing Thriller in the background of my life right now :). We have so many fun things planned…and I hope you do too!
As always, I’m linking up with Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing my favorite things from the week. Happy Friday to YOU!
Have you entered to win my Birthday Giveaway??? One lucky winner is going to receive a $500 Nordstrom gift card. Click HERE to enter to win!
After two weeks of nonstop When Harry Met Sally, I switched to one of my other favorite rom-coms…The Mirror Has Two Faces. The music in the background is reason enough to watch this one. #ohbarbra I like to sit on the floor and work…so, this one kept me company several times this week as I did that. Okay…favorite Streisand movie? I think I’m going to have to say The Way We Were. What about you?
Lots of questions about this top this week. It’s a favorite…I’m even wearing it again today :). It’s from Loft and you can find it HERE.
And while you’re at Loft, don’t forget about this one too…
Love an easy top with jeans :). The scarf is officially sold out, but this one is a fun second choice.
Okay, this was most definitely a favorite of mine this week. A sweet reader named Kate sent me these pics…
She took two of my bundt cakes and made a pumpkin. But my favorite part????
She used two different versions of my bundt cakes. #puregenius The top cake is my Celebration White and the bottom is my Oreo. How fun?!?! I’ve done this before with my Pumpkin Spice Latte for both, but it never occurred to me to use two complimentary cakes. BRILLIANT! To see all 100 of my bundt cake versions, click HERE.
I wore this outfit (again) on Wednesday when I went to speak at a moms group…but this time, I paired it with these black booties. Because I realized that I have a closet full of neutral shoes but needed a solid black pair. They fit like a glove true to size.
And finally, a frightfully fun treat to make this Halloween weekend…
…my Pumpkin Patch Brownie Trifle. It’s so simple and insanely good! You don’t want to miss this one :).
Okay, don’t forget to enter to win my Birthday Giveaway HERE. See you on Halloween!!

You’re gonna have to sit down for this but I’m not sure I’ve ever seen a Streisand movie. WAIT I take that back…I guess I’d have to say Meet the Fockers and Little Fockers.
Narci says
Those black booties are darling on you!! So cute! Also, I’m still thinking about that trifle from the weekend! Delish!

Your Loft tops lately have me thinking that maybe I need to pop back into the store to see what they have. I haven’t been in a long time. Thanks for sharing!

I’m with Erika! I mean, I’ve had to see other Streisand movies, but none of them are coming to mind?!? I’m so ashamed.
Dana Powell says
I don’t know about this one, Shay. You have been right about a lot of things, but Barbra Streisand? When I see her movies listed on Netflix, I skip right over them. Maybe I’ll check it out, but I’m a little nervous…Hope you guys have a good weekend!

Hi Shay – your bundt cakes sound tempting but we have switched to gluten free in our house because my son was just diagnosed with celiac disease. Any plans for some gluten free bundt cake recipes in the future??? My son would be happy (and me too!!). Have a great weekend!
KElly says
Great idea! Shay could write a new book…Gluten free recipes by Shay!!

The Way We Were is my all time favorite movie! I’m closer to your mom’s age and surprised that you even know that movie. We possibly might be the same person because it’s hilarious how many of your favorites (candy, clothes, books, etc) are my favorites too ????
Keep loving your sweet family and sharing it all with us.
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams says
Omg that bundt cake looks amazing! I have to try that since my family and I are such fans of your red, white and blue triffle in the summer! Hope you guys enjoy your Halloween weekend 🙂

I grew up watching Funny Girl. My mom has always loved musicals and dance, which she instilled in me. I even wrote an essay on Funny Girl in college!

Love the animal print top! Does meet the Fockers count as a Streisand movie??? Ha!

Hahaha! Totally! A funny one at that!

Speaking of your bundt cakes, I made one last week and it was TO DIE FOR! I went with the one you said was your favorite – the pumpkin spice cake – and it did not disappoint. My sister always has a store-bought bundt cake covered and sitting on her counter when she hosts overnight guests so that they have a quick snack option if they’re hungry (and feel “rude” digging through the pantry), and I love this concept. I’ve tried four other bundt recipes the last couple months, and all of them ended up falling apart when I flipped the pan… except yours! Hooray! I’m going to do a blog post in a few weeks about this simple hosting tip, and I’ll be sure to link to your bundt cake section. Whoa this got long. Sorry. Have a beautiful weekend!

Oh my goodness! The Mirror Has Two Faces is my go to “working” movie! Love it! Like you, I have several movies that I choose to run in the background while I’m getting things done and it is top on my list. So funny but as I was scrolling down I saw the shot of your laptop screen and knew immediately what movie it was before I got to the text and I thought “Oh, I wonder if she’s going to mention the movie!” 🙂 Have a great weekend!
Brooke Richardson says
That brownie trifle dessert was amazing!!! Wish I had some right now! Lol!

Makin’ your PSL Bundt Cake this weekend for the first time:) Very excited to try it out! May I ask where the blue rug is from the photo you are watching your movie on? Have a great weekend! GG

Love that movie as well but my all time favorite in FUNNY GIRL hands down. Talk about the music and her dress on the first date with Nicky will forever be in my mind! And gather your friends for a Streisand movie night- educate them! : ) Have a great weekend!
Kate says
Shay- thank you so much for including my pumpkin cake in your Friday Favorites! I’m going to work my way through the entire book! Next stop- S’mores Cake for a sweet family at the Fisher House and Cinnamon Roll Cake for a work potluck!

Hi Shay! (Also my sister’s name) A Star is Born is my favorite movie of all time!! We bought my mom tickets to see Barbra Streisand for her 75th birthday and we’re going next month. I have a feeling I’m going to bawl thru the whole thing since its the music I grew up listening to and seeing her with my mom will be very emotional. Thank you for sharing. Happy Weekend!

Hi Shay! I love reading your blog and get a lot of inspiration from your outfits and style. I keep meaning to ask – do you get your jeans hemmed? I’m pretty short and cannot seem to find a good length on normal skinny jeans. I’ve purchased the AG ones you posted about because they looked like a great length on you (I think we’re around the same height 5’3″) but again too long :/ – any recommendations for ankle length? Yours always look so great with your booties, and I feel like mine always look too long (bunched up) and sloppy. OK sorry for the long post about jean length haha! Hope you and your beautiful family have a lovely weekend!
Mix and Match Mama says
I typically do not buy jeans that need to be hemmed. I didn’t hem the AG jeans, I thought they hit me just right. You have a great weekend too! I bet you look fabulous :).

My FAV Streisand movie has always been ‘What’s Up Doc’ with Ryan O’Neal and Madeline Kahn. So much fun to watch and she is GORGEOUS in that movie.

Oh my Gosh I love ‘The Way We Were” with Barbara Streistand and Robert Redford. Also ‘A Star is Born’ with Kris Kristofferson. The Pumpkin Brownie Trifle is something that I am going to have to try. My son & daughter in-law live in Bedford Texas. Love your Blog.
Beth McClintock says
I am making that pumpkin cake this weekend FOR SURE! What is a good icing recipe to use???

Shay,
I saw your post about how you’re going to be in NYC next Thursday for the Today show. You’ve been a long time blog favorite of mine and I’d love to meet you as my husband and I will be in NYC to celebrate my 30th! Please hook this southern mama up, from one Texas gal to this SC gal 🙂

I love those booties – I have been on the look out for little black ones like that I can wear for work and play! They are $10 cheaper at Macy’s, so I would see if you could price match them at Nordstrom! Happy Friday!
Stephanie says
How cute is the pumpkin patch trifle?!?!
Susan Perez says
Your reader Kate was very clever because it looks to me like she frosted a BANANA with green icing to make the pumpkin’s stem. Genius!

LOVE the booties!!! I found them on Amazon as well for $10 less and they have them in Wine and Dark Brown, too. I may have to have them all!
I also wanted to thank you for the suggestion of the Bumble and Bumble Don’t Blow It hair product! I have never found a product that made my curls look even half as good as this one does. I have been telling all of my fellow curly haired friends about it. Have you tried any of their other products? Thank you again for sharing wonderful product!!
Beth says
“What’s Up Doc” is my favorite of her movies. It’s an homage to my very favorite movie, “Bringing Up Baby”, with Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn. Love!
