Friday Favorites


It’s Friday.

I was realllllly needing a Friday right about now.  #perfecttiming

My week has kind of been a blur…but today, is my favorite day!  After Christmas, I declared Fridays our “do nothing” days at home.  The little girls and I play outside, we bake, we play games…we basically do nothing and it feels so darn good.  Here’s hoping you do a little nothing at some point today too!

Just like every Friday, I’m linking up with three of my favorite friends, Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing some of my favorite things from the week today.  It’s basically total randomness.  Enjoy :)!

So…how could that not be a favorite of mine?!?!

Okay, after today, I’ll stop talking about these cute Crocs…but, I wanted you to see that my girls’ finally arrived and they LOVE them so much!  Cheers for easy to wear shoes they can enjoy all spring and summer long!

Many of you know my sweet friend Brooke.  Well, this week, they’re in China and they finally met their new precious daughter…

…sweet Willow is forever in their arms now and coming home with them soon.  Isn’t adoption amazing?!?!  I mean…FOREVER.  They are a family FOREVER AND EVER.

Adoption is just so wonderful.  And God is SO GOOD!

I never watch movies on a plane because I always want to read.  Well, after reading to and from D.C. and then again to and from Boston, I told Andrew I wanted a movie to watch to and from L.A…so, knowing what a HUGE Peter Berg fan I am, he said that I should watch these two…

Deepwater Horizon and…

Patriots Day.

And I LOVED them both!

I thought they were both done so well (hello, Peter Berg!).  They were intense, and dramatic, and full of suspense and both based on true stories…and they made my flights fly by 😉 .  So, if you need a movie to buy/rent/watch this weekend, they’re both now favorites of mine.  And bonus, last May when we went to Boston, they were filming Patriots Day and that’s when I sat a few rows behind…

…J.K. Simmons at the Sox game (he was in town filming the movie).  Talk about an amazing actor!!

Every time I get my hair or makeup professionally done, I always ask what their favorite products/tips/tricks are (because I love learning from the experts!).  So, this week when I was in L.A., the makeup artist told me that this was her favorite product…

…Becca Under Eye Brightening Corrector.  The girl doing my hair and I were both curious, so she said she would only do one of my eyes so that we could see the difference.  And HOLY COW!  I ordered it that very minute for myself.  You put a little bit of this brightening magic under your eye and then layer your concealer on top and it made a MAJOR difference.  So, just a dab of this and then a dab of concealer on top and bam, your eyes look so much more awake and your face really pops.  Amazing!

    Love beauty products! What undereye concealer do you use? I haven’t found a favorite as they either seem to dry or don’t stay.

    oh, the weekend is so close. today is the last day of school before spring break here in michigan. no big trips, just a few day trips, and no packing lunchs or 6am “time to get up” mornings for my son. to me, after spring break, the countdown to summerbegins.

    i jumped on the free book the first time you mentioned it. your publisher was speedy fast in all aspects of getting “cakes” delivered to my doorstep!

    question about the brightening corrector: can it be worn alone? without foundation?

    Deep water horizon was so good. I’ll put the other on my list.
    I actually use a few Becca products … I LOVE the back lighter primer .. it goes on my skin lije silk and leaves a beautiful natural glow & of course the becca /jaclyn hill champagne pop highlighter is my fav go to highlighter.
    The picture of Brooke and Willow was soo touching.

    I noticed a while back that you used to use the Bobbi Brown under eye brightener, which I am obsessed with. They just discontinued it, though. Is the Becca stuff basically that same idea? I need to find another good under eye brightener, so this is good timing!

      I knooooooooow! Why did they do it??? I’m so sad! I switched to her serum concealer and it’s just about the same. I’m using this under that.

    I recorded Home and Family and enjoyed so much seeing you and sweet Smith and Kensington. In your blog posts about them, you make them seem exactly like they were in person on live TV. When I was watching them, I realized that we all will get to follow these dear children, and of course Ashby and Madeley along in their lives just like we are a part of your family. I couldn’t wait to show my husband my “blog family” on TV! BTW, my husband works on the largest oil rig in the world, the Thunderhorse (you can look it up online). So Deepwater Horizon was very real to us and helped me understand even more how dangerous his job is out there. And how much more I need to pray for him! And those crocs….Adorable! Crocs are a big joke in our family because my husband wears the big ugly clunky ones. All our grown children make fun of him! He has threatened one of our sons with buying some for our 3 granddaughters, 3, 2, and 9 months. Since these are so cute, I may just have to get them for those girls! Thank you for the time you take to do your blog. I honestly don’t know when you sleep! Love to all of you!

    Do you put the under eye corrector on before or after foundation? I usually put concealer on after primer and before foundation but know everyone is different! I read your post and practically ran to buy it 🙂

      She told me to put on foundation, then the corrector, then concealer over that :).

    Awhile you did a post on family calendars? Just wondering if you tried any, thoughts? I am still old school and paper and pen. Tried Cozi but just couldn’t get use to it. Was looking for suggestions. Thanks. Enjoy your week.

      I tried both Cozi and using just the basic iPhone calendar and still keep reverting back to paper and pen too. We ended up buying a marker board calendar to hang in our mudroom area and that has been helping us more than anything.

    My husband is a Captain on The Pontus which is a sister ship of The Deepwater Horizon. I haven’t seen the movie yet as I already worry every hitch he leaves for work. He lost many friends on the Horizon. He will be home in two weeks and my boys are so excited. I just watched Patriots Day last night. So proud of my city! Two movies that hit so close to my home.
