Holy. Cow.
What a crazy 12 hours I’ve just had!
The Slaughters returned home yesterday afternoon at 4:30, and we were PUMPED!! They landed and went through customs to immigrate Miss Britt, so by the time they got out, it was closer to 6:00. We celebrated, we hugged, we cried a little, we couldn’t get enough of sweet Britt…it was SO SPECIAL! As soon as they were ready to get their stuff and head home with their family, my family left the airport without me as I walked over to security and made my way inside the terminal to fly to BOSTON! I boarded a plane at 8:00 PM, landed in Boston at 1:00 AM, made my way to our hotel and met up with my parents. Today, we’re going to explore our favorite town a bit before seeing a game tonight at Fenway. Whew! I’m tired…but so excited because I’m in my VERY favorite city!!
Just like every Friday, I’m linking up with three of my favorite friends, Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing some of my favorite things from the week. Happy Friday, friends!!
Okay, so apparently, this is my new favorite thing to do/wear/show. Every week, I keep adding another tee to my collection. This one is particularly festive :). Let’s start at the beginning though…
Outfit #1
PINEAPPLE TEE//SHORTS//SANDALS
Outfit #2
STRIPED TEE//SHORTS//FLIP FLOPS//HAT//EARRINGS
And Outfit #3
Isn’t that tee festive (and cute!!)? I’m going to wear it this weekend and July 4th weekend too. Annnnd…I finally found some wedges that I love! These are actually Ugg wedges! #whatwhat
They’re cute and they’re comfy, so that’s totally a winning combination in my book! They come in two other colors as well.
I love, love, love sharing my creative friends with you guys! Look at these cute signs my girlfriends’ Kristen and Shelly made…
You can find them on Instagram HERE or Facebook HERE. Right now, they’re doing a giveaway…so if you want to see their cute signs and maybe win something, you better check them out! Their new business, Judith and Meholin is just getting started (Etsy shop in the works!), so make sure you follow them so that you can see what’s coming!
Speaking of giveaways, have you entered my Erin Condren Giveaway yet???? I’m giving three lucky winners each a $50 e-gift card to design your own Life Planner. Here is my new one…
I love, love, LOVE these planners!
Many of you asked how I use mine, so I created a faux page for you to see. I can’t show you a real page because I put really specific info on there and would have to blur out way too much. I created this page just for you to show how I use it. Every member of my family has a color, plus there is a color for my travel agency information. This way, I don’t have to put “Smith’s dentist appointment”, I can just put “dentist appointment” in orange and automatically know that is for Smith. I started color coding this year and it has made a huge difference! Now, my eye can just skim days and I can tell who is more busy because of the colors, plus it saves room/confusion by not having to write actual names. So, thanks to your requests, here is a sample page…
…of course, this isn’t nearly as full or complete as my real pages, but it gives you an idea of how I organize.
See the details and enter to win HERE.
Look what I finally tried…
…a London Fog from Starbucks! I’ve had so many of you tell me to order one and I finally did. And you know what? It was delicious!! For those of you who don’t know, it’s Earl Grey tea with steamed milk and a little sugar (I’m pretty sure that’s what it is). It was rainy as we drove to Ashby’s doctor appointment this week, so Andrew and I stopped off for drinks along the way and this is what I ordered. So, so. so good! I told Andrew that you ladies know me so well :).
I’m so happy with my new drink!!
And because I think you might ask, my polish is Essie’s French Affair and my top is HERE from Loft (which by the way, is having a major Memorial Day weekend sale right now!).
And finally…
Don’t know what to make this weekend? Look no further than HERE. I have everything you need for a Memorial Day get together HERE.
I have breakfast, appetizers, stuff for the grill and dessert too.
Okay…I’m off to enjoy my day in Boston. See you tonight Red Sox!

I had no idea Ugg made wedges now. I’ve never been into the brand, but I can imagine them being very comfortable, as Uggs are!

I just did a Duck/Fenway tour earlier this month and absolutely loved all of the history of that stadium. I was very impressed with their roof-top garden; who knew?! Have a great trip and enjoy a lobster roll for all of us!

I love London Fogs and totally forgot about them–thanks for the reminder! I’ve never had one from Starbucks, but I used to make them myself. You just steep Earl Grey tea, then add steamed milk with a splash of almond flavoring. I don’t really like my tea sweetened, but you can sweeten it if you want. Another iced tea to try that is fantastic: I buy Thai tea from an Asian grocery store (I’m pretty sure you can find it at any Asian grocery store), then steep about 1-2 T with a small amount of hot water for 4-5 minutes. I fill up my cup with ice, pour the steeped tea in and add a little stevia and a splash of cream, plus enough water to fill up the cup. So, so delicious and way less sugar than an actual Thai tea from a restaurant. It’s the perfect summer drink!

My EC planner looks very similar to yours in how you set it up. I color code everyone as well and it makes life so much easier. I love knowing who needs what/who’s doing what at a glance by the colors.
Shelly says
Shay! Thank you so much for the “Judith and Meholin” shout out!!!! That meant the world to us! Have so much fun with your parents in Boston! Thank you, thank you, thank you, again!!!!!
Kelly says
Enjoy your time in Boston! I love that you have special times with your parents 🙂 And, thanks so much for the London Fog tip! I love earl grey tea and if they can make it with steamed almond milk, I am all in!
Lizzie @ This Happy Life says
So happy for the Slaughters!! Love all your outfits and I’m all about a fun tee!! Have fun in Boston!
Jena Marcantonio says
I believe that the sweetness in a London Fog is vanilla syrup! Such a good rainy day drink. 🙂 It’s also my go-to if I’m feeling a cold coming on.
Enjoy Boston!

You are probably right! It was delicious!!!!

Hey Shay! Im from just north of Boston, and am going to the sox game on sunday :)….While your in town, you should check out The Langham Hotel on Saturday morning, they do a huge chocolate bar that is absolutely AMAZING. Over 100 desserts with all different chocolate sounds good to me 🙂 haha Enjoy Boston!!

Good Morning Shay. I’d love to know what brand of marker you use in your planners. I love using fun marker colors but don’t like the ink bleeding on the other pages. I’ve never used an Erin Condren Life Planner but would love to try it. Thank you and hope you have a fun baseball weekend in Boston.
Mix and Match Mama says
They’re Erin Condren markers!!!
Lynn says
I love your color-coded planner! Do you carry all the markers around with you? Or do you set aside a time to update your planner when you get home?
Mix and Match Mama says
I always just throw them in my purse if I take my planner away from my house. This year, in the accessories section, she’s selling a little pouch that goes inside the planners to hold markers.
Julie says
Welcome to Boston! Sorry we don’t have better weather but maybe the Sox will win to make up for the rain?! Hope you have the best time with your parents.

I saw you flying to Boston on Insta-stories but I saw you were greeting the Slaughter’s and thought wow that gal is busy! So awesome, the large crowd you all had at the airport. It is incredible to see the love and support you friends have for one another. Yay for 5 less, adoption is amazing! Have a great time with your parents in Boston! xoxo ERIN

That London Fog sounds so good! That English tea + milk + sugar combo was how I learned to enjoy tea when I lived in London for a period of time. Now whenever I drink tea, it brings back the best memories of my time there.
Jenna says
Have fun in Boston! Those outfits are adorable. I am going to have to try that tea soon. Happy Friday and enjoy your weekend!
Andrea says
Hi Shay! Question about the planner – do you carry it with you everywhere so you can remember where everyone is supposed to be? Also, do you also track everything electronically? My husband asked me to switch to an iPhone app calendar so we could share and both know what’s going on but I desperately miss the beautiful planners!
Mix and Match Mama says
I tried to track electronically earlier this year but I was a major fail. I’m just a paper and pen kind of girl. I keep it on my desk at home and glance at it multiple times a day.
Maria Moreno says
Does the life planner have just the monthly planner or monthly/weekly? I want to get one but I tend to just use the monthly calendar portion of a planner as it lets me see the entire month at once.
Mix and Match Mama says
Every month, has a monthly layout as well!
Narci Dreffs says
Last night was amazing!!! Have so much fun today!!! Xoxo

It is always interesting to hear your favorite cities. Sometime you should do a post on like top 5 places you’d live if you couldn’t live in McKinnley instead of vacation ones. Be interesting to hear!
Nichole says
We are headed to Boston for the first time this summer with our kids. I would love to hear some of your favorite things to do as well as must-eat restaurant recommendations! A post on all your Boston favorites would be awesome right in time for summer vacations! Pretty please? 🙂

London Fog’s are my favourite!! YUM!

I used to use a physical planner and loved it but somehow got away from one when iCal entered my life. I like having my calendar with me at all times, and carrying an actual one wasn’t as convenient. I keep trying to go back to it but it’s not easy. Do you take your planner with you every time you walk out the door? Having my planner on my phone is easier…I just don’t like it as much.
Lindsay @ Lindsay's Sweet World says
Your jorts game is STRONG, girl! I just got a really cute pair that I’ve been wearing on repeat, too!
I hope you enjoy your weekend with your parents in yoru favorite city! I’ve never made it to Boston, but it’s on my bucket list! Have a great time, girl!

So I color code too and love it. But I can caught up with what to do when it’s a while family event or like 2 of the 3 kids, or like my hubby and I together? How do you pick which colors to use in those situations?
Mix and Match Mama says
I use just a random color (not one of my 7 primary ones) for that stuff!
Mai says
May i ask where you stay in Boston and what hotel. I am planning a trip there this year with my family and would love any recommendatins on places to eat and see and do in Boston. Would be great if you did a post on that ! Enjoy your blog tremendously. Thank you and have a wonderful weekend!

It’s just Bobbi Brown’s Taffeta!

London fogs are made with Vanilla Syrup! If you find the sweetness a little too much, just ask for it half-sweet (my favourite way!)
