Just an easy little burger recipe for the last day in July. Enjoy! xo
This recipe makes four (half-pound) burgers.
Shopping List
2 pounds of ground beef
Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
about 2 tablespoons of your favorite steak seasoning
2 teaspoons ground Cumin
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 cup of your favorite BBQ sauce, plus more for drizzling (we used Sweet Baby Ray’s)
1 red onion, chopped
salt and pepper
4 pieces of bacon, cooked to crisp and then split in half
4 thick slices of white cheddar cheese
4 burger buns (we used sweet Hawaiian rolls)
Preheat your outdoor grill or indoor grill pan over medium-high heat.
In a mixing bowl, combine your ground beef, a few drizzles of EVOO, your steak seasoning, cumin, Worcestershire sauce and BBQ sauce together. Divide this mixture into four sections and make four patties (make sure to press down each patty a little in the center to avoid the “burger bulge” when they grill).
Meanwhile, also add your chopped red onion to a skillet with a drizzle of EVOO and big pinches of both salt and pepper. Let your onion saute down as your burgers grill.
Add your burger patties to the grill and begin grilling (we do about 6 minutes or so each side). About two minutes before your patties are done, add a slice of cheese to each one. Melt the cheese and then prepare to assemble your burger. Bun plus cheesy patty plus two pieces of bacon and lots of caramelized onions.
Easy enough for a Tuesday night!

Yummy! Did you serve with a side?
Mix and Match Mama says
With burgers, we serve avocados, sliced tomatoes, salads, or roasted veggies for the most part.

That sounds delicious! Quick question… I notice that you never photograph your burgers with a top bun. Is that how you eat them? Or is it just for photography purposes that you leave it off? Just curious
Mix and Match Mama says
That’s how we eat them (knife and fork burgers), but yes, it also shows the toppings better with no bun!
