Friday Favorites

Whoop, whoop!  It’s Friday!

I saw this on Pinterest this week and it made me LOL…

…anyone else?!  Oh my gosh!  That is SO ME!  Hahahahaha!

Needless to say, if you’re looking for me tonight, I’ll be snuggled in my bed. By like 8:30.  Sigh.

I wanted to say thank you so much to all of you who sent me messages and comments of love on Wednesday when I posted that silly video of me seeing my new cookbook for the first time…

…ah!  I love it so much!!  My publisher made a compilation book of all the recipes from my previous books (plus a few from my blog) and turned it into one big Meal Planner.  It’s divided up with four weeks per season and includes your shopping list too.  I was really pleased when I saw it on Wednesday afternoon.  If you want to pre-order your copy, you can HERE.  It releases October 2.  Thank you again!!

I have a great list of faves this week!  As always, I’m linking up with my friends Erika, Narci and Andrea.

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!! xo

September Giveaway

Ready to know who won my SEPTEMBER GIVEAWAY?!

Drum roll please.

The four winners are…

You ladies each won either my favorite slow cooker or Instant Pot!

I emailed you all this morning.  Please email me back ASAP to claim your prize!!

Okay, speaking of my slow cooker and Instant Pot, I thought now would be a good time to give you a friendly reminder that they’re both amazing.

My slow cooker is probably like four or five years old.  They always carry it at Williams-Sonoma and it’s always on sale there.  What I love about it is the insert.  You remove the insert and can set it directly on your burner to brown things before popping it back in the slow cooker to finish cooking.  It’s a-mazing.  I bet I use this thing at least once (up to 4 or 5 times!) a week!  If you’re needing a new slow cooker, you will love this one.  Also, don’t forget, you can find all of my slow cooker recipes HERE.

And then this

…is my new Instant Pot (also on sale).  I’m still dipping my toe in the Instant Pot craze.  I chronicled my first Instant Pot experience HERE.  The comments/tips and suggestions alone on that post make it a must read.  You guys NAILED the info on using an Instant Pot!  I have only used mine twice now, but I’m determined to use it more and learn new recipes/easy ideas.  Everyone keeps telling me how life changing it is…and I want my life changed 😉 .

Okay, every year, I do a fall home tour.  I love looking at other people’s homes decorated for the fall (and then later, for the holidays), so I always post mine too.  BUT, that’s not today.  I need to get my act together and get all my fall pics, but in the meantime, here are a few new things I bought for fall and since they’re still in stock, if you want them too, you better hurry on over to get them…

My pumpkin pillow just makes me happy!  The other pillow is also from PB and I use it year around…but the pumpkin one makes me smile 🙂 .  Don’t forget to buy your insert HERE along with the pillow cover.

Here’s a better view of my faux fur throw.  It’s big enough that my kids don’t have to all fight over it (well…let’s be real, they still fight over it.).

And look at my little rose gold pumpkin.  Isn’t it cute?!

Speaking of pumpkins and such, Erika posted this on her blog, and I immediately saved it for us too…

So far, my family has checked off Hocus Pocus and Hotel Transylvania.

Speaking of which…

…I might have spent too much time on Hallmark’s website this week figuring out which fall movies I want to DVR.  #basicallyallofthem

Here’s my September #OOTD on repeat…

I could wear a sleeveless top with jeans and my peep toe booties every day.  Oh wait, I just about do!  This top is great because it looks like fall without being bulky or hot.  The jeans?  My AG jeans that I’ve had forever paired with those peep toe booties.  Guys!  I love these booties!  They are just so comfy and perfect for transitional weather!

Here are a few other tops that work well for transitional weather like this (just scroll click!)…

Has anyone heard of Brandless?  I feel like it’s everywhere on social media these days, so I bought a few things online.  It’s food, household cleaning products and such and every single item is $3.  My oatmeal (you get 2 for $3) was really good!  If you’re a Brandless shopper, tell me what else I should buy!  I’d love some ideas!

Well, you know how we’re bow heads around here?  See exhibit A:

Well, it’s because my cousin Casey has the cutest bow shop!

I just got a new batch of her FALL BOWS

…my girls always wear the XL Jumbo size.  Seriously, I’m not just saying this because she’s family…but these bows are the BEST!  You can even machine wash them!!!

Right now, Casey is offering until the end of month 10% off your first bow box when you make it a monthly subscription and use the promo code shay. You get to pick your start date-  either September or October! Box subscriptions are only $20 a month and come with 5 great Hairbows ranging in size, color and style, planned around the seasons! Both boxes are listed online along with the past bow boxes from this year.

Last but not least…

All About Apples!

…I have all your apple recipes today!  From breakfast to breads, savory recipes and desserts…it’s ALL ABOUT APPLES right HERE.  I love apple season so much!!

Okay…have a great weekend, friends!! I’ll see you here on Monday!! xo

Hah, the Friday morning and Friday night meme is so me as well! I can’t fathom the energy to go out anymore, even if I do sometimes get FOMO. Netflix and bedtime over clubbing any day! 😀

I can’t wait for your Meal Planner cookbook! One of my goals this fall is to use my slow cooker once a week and cook some new stuff so I already pre-ordered! I haven’t heard of Brandless but I’m going to go check it out. Yay for apple season, I want those pancakes!

  • Sheaffer Sims September 7, 2018 at 5:58 am

I’ve got some Brandless recommendations for you! We love the white cheddar popcorn, the sweet potato chips, the black bean salsa, the regular salsa, the everything round pretzels (they taste more like crackers), the dried mangos, and the little dried fruit and nut topping package (I put it on top of yogurt). I know there’s more, but it’s early. 🙂 Happy Friday!

  • Narci September 7, 2018 at 6:10 am

I will definitely be ordering your new cookbook! Thank you for the preview of it over on Instagram yesterday 🙂 I can’t wait for it. Between your book, the tops, and the weather finally resembling September, I am once again all in the mood for fall now, or at least till the temperatures spike again. Have a great weekend, Shay!

  • Dustie Day September 7, 2018 at 6:53 am

  • Erin Port September 7, 2018 at 7:28 am

  • Rebecca Jo September 7, 2018 at 7:43 am

    Congrats on your latest cookbook!!!
Brandless – I LOVE LOVE LOVE the wooden handle utensils – they are SUPER NICE!!!!! They always sell out & I still need a few more for a full set. But try them.

  • Nicole Buschlen September 7, 2018 at 7:48 am

Tell me more about Brandless….I went to the website and it sounds amazing. Did you get a membership? How fast do you receive shipments?
Love the apple recipes, I’m decorating for fall this weekend.

    • Mix and Match Mama September 7, 2018 at 7:55 am

I didn’t. I just picked and ordered about $40 in stuff. It arrived in like 5 days!

  • Keesha September 7, 2018 at 8:10 am

Congratulations on the cookbook! I have three of your cookbooks and love them all. My family eats your meals at least twice as week! You have another meal planning cookbook – are they the same format just with different recipes? Thanks!

    • Mix and Match Mama September 7, 2018 at 8:44 am

It’s a smaller book that came out first. Thank you so much for using my cookbooks. This means so much to me!

  • Liz September 7, 2018 at 8:16 am

Oh my! I love all of the things in your post. I have to be honest though, I think I got most excited over the Hallmark Fall Movies! Can’t wait to light some candles and get cozy!

    • Mix and Match Mama September 7, 2018 at 8:43 am

I love those things so much!! My DVR is set for tonight!!

  • Amanda Bacon September 7, 2018 at 8:22 am

Your next new kitchen appliance should be a bread maker! Would love some new recipes from you! You should try it!

  • Ashley September 7, 2018 at 9:09 am

Enjoying one of your pumpkin chocolate chip muffins this morning. Best way to start a Friday!

  • Paula Hawthorne September 7, 2018 at 9:12 am

Since the crockpot was on an incredible sale and had an additional 20% off with free shipping, I went ahead a bought the crockpot. Right at $200, I couldn’t pass it up.

Your cookbook is pre-ordered, so happy fall cooking.

  • Holly September 7, 2018 at 9:22 am

I want that slow cooker so badly, but the reviews on it scare me! It seems the recent ones sold are bubbling and peeling! I have an electric cooktop, I wonder if I would still be able to pre-cook on my stovetop? But that bubbling/peeling has me hesitant to purchase! I LOVE cooking CrockPot meals!!!

    • Mix and Match Mama September 7, 2018 at 12:45 pm

Erika bought one off of my recommendation last fall and hasn’t had any problems!

  • Brittany September 7, 2018 at 9:29 am

Brandless. My LIFE. I make peanut butter granola every week and use their peanut powder. I also buy their raisins, chia seeds, dish soap, hand soap.. I know there’s more but I can’t think of it right now. That site is legit. Enjoy.

    • Mix and Match Mama September 7, 2018 at 12:45 pm

That’s a great start!! Thank you!!!

  • Justyna September 7, 2018 at 9:42 am

    Hi Shay!
My dinner club theme this month is “famous chefs”… I picked you!
What do you recommend I make? I have to make it the night before! Thank you!! 🙂

    • Mix and Match Mama September 7, 2018 at 12:44 pm

Well, I’m neither famous nor a chef, but geez…thank YOU! Are you making something savory or sweet? Email me and let’s discuss!

  • Michelle BG. September 7, 2018 at 9:48 am

No you have to do Halloweentown 2 after Halloweentown lol! That’s the next one. I take Halloweentown very seriously 😉😉

  • Alissa Bayuk September 7, 2018 at 9:56 am

Congrats on the new book! Is it the same physical size as Eats or as Simmers?
Ill have to check out Brandless, never heard of it!

    • Mix and Match Mama September 7, 2018 at 12:44 pm

      It’s in-between!

  • Ella September 7, 2018 at 10:53 am

I laughed when you mentioned transitional weather. We aren’t there yet, it’s still full on summer heat wave.

  • Chrys September 7, 2018 at 11:15 am

I’m having a Fall Gift Exchange (took the idea from you!) at the end of October and I’ll have all the new Hallmark Fall movies DVR’d so that the girls can vote on one to watch, while we snack on “fall” goodies and light some candles. I am SO EXCITED!!!

  • Patty September 7, 2018 at 11:39 am

    Rose gold pumpin? Yes please!
I am right there with you on the Hallmark Fall Fest movies. I cannot wait to watch. #Hallmarkie

  • Leslee September 7, 2018 at 11:57 am

I can’t believe Spookley the Square Pumpkin isn’t in that list! It actually drives me batty (gratuitous Halloween word play), but my kids always liked it!

    • Mix and Match Mama September 7, 2018 at 12:43 pm

We’ve already watched that one!! You’re right! It should be on there too!!

  • Tish Ferry September 7, 2018 at 12:13 pm

I LOVE your cookbooks! I have Eats and Simmers on my kitchen counter and use them ALL THE TIME! My husband will comment how a delicious meal and say “Is this one of Shay’s?” Ha! You’re part of the family at our house! So excited for your new one!

I just love how autumny your last two Friday Favorite posts have been…gets me so excited for whats to come! Have a great weekend Shay!

  • SS September 7, 2018 at 12:31 pm

What a fun movie list. Although I would probably add Coco and Book of Life… I know Day of the Dead celebration movies (not Halloween)… but they are both too cute to pass up at this time of the year as well!!!(Especially with littles in the family….Gremlins and a couple other may be a little scary.)
All these pumpkin recipes make me want to get to our apple orchard TODAY!!! It will have to wait…tonight is Bonfire. We have cool weather finally up here… A whopping 68!!! PERFECT bonfire weather!!! You will find me there tonight!!!
    Have a GREAT weekend!!!

  • Katie September 7, 2018 at 12:53 pm

  • Joy September 7, 2018 at 1:40 pm

I love your fall decor! Did you get a new couch? I love it, where days you get it from?

    • Mix and Match Mama September 7, 2018 at 2:13 pm

      I did! From Restoration Hardware!

  • Ashley September 7, 2018 at 2:14 pm

I’ve started eating similar oatmeal cups for breakfast every morning and a spoonful of Maple Almond Butter mixed in when it’s still hot makes it taste SO much better!

  • Liz Thorson September 7, 2018 at 2:54 pm

I’m sharing your cousin’s website with a new mama today! She loves fashion and fun and I think she’ll love buying her little girl, Penelope, some darling headbands and bows! I would have adored them if we’d had a little girl! Two boys, 29 and 34, now!❤️

  • Becky Carl September 7, 2018 at 3:52 pm

Are they too young for Goose Bumps? I love that movie!!
    Love to y’all❤️

  • Ginny September 7, 2018 at 4:17 pm

I have to say that the slow cooker function on the Instant Pot is better than any slow cooker I’ve ever had.

  • Donna Cook September 11, 2018 at 10:02 am

Looking forward to your fall house tour! Always fun to get new ideas!! Honey We’re Home and Hi Sugarplum have done closet tour posts and these were super helpful as I am in the process of trying to get mine organized too. We only get to see a tiny piece of your closet in the background in your pictures so would you consider doing a post on how you organized your closet. Your organizational skills are spot on and I’m sure I could pick up some helpful tips!

  • Lizzie October 3, 2018 at 9:59 am

Great post! You MUST add The Ghost and Mr. Chicken to your October movie list. Don Knotts is great! 🙂
