I don’t know about you, but this time of year, my mailbox is overflowing with adorable announcements from friends whose kiddos are heading out of high school. The fact that…
…this girl heads to high school in August makes me want to sit here and sob. You guys, it’s just going by too quickly!!!
Whew. Okay. #allthemomfeels
Next up, this year, we did something totally different and the day before Easter, we hosted an Easter BBQ instead of our traditional “country club Sunday after Easter services lunch”. You guys IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! The weather was gorgeous, the food was delish (if I do say so myself!), and since it was a “BBQ”, it felt super relaxed and chill.
It is a long-standing family tradition that the grandparents provide the Easter baskets for the grandkids. Why? I have no idea, but I’ve yet to ever make one for my kids which is awesome because MY MOM’S ARE AMAZING! I tell her every year that she should truly go into the Easter basket making business.
After everyone opened their baskets…
…there was lots of fun outside time. How sweet are Kensington and Mia blowing and chasing bubbles?!
I just love this guy! He is my forever favorite party co-host.
What a difference a year makes! My grandmother is doing AMAZING! This woman has been kicking cancer since she was MY AGE.
Read that again.
She has battled cancer now multiple times (all unrelated), lost her husband to cancer when he was only 65 and yet, here she is. Gorgeous, smiling and radiating JOY. Geez, I love her.
I mean, this one needs to go in a frame. 🙂
The gang was (almost!) all here. We were missing three of our favorite girlies (volleyball tournament!), but we had most of the bunch. I think Samuel’s face sums up the mood perfectly.
Of course, we had an egg hunt too. Want to know what we had for dinner? I have the full menu at the bottom of today’s post 🙂 .
One more of this sweet lady. She’s held my hand now twice over the last 16 months as I’ve buried two of my other grandparents (both dear friends of hers). She’s my rock. She’s my hero in life.
And because it’s so cute that you might just need it too…
…MY TOP! Isn’t is so cute?! It comes in EIGHTEEN different colors/patterns and many (including mine!) are 40% off right now!
It is sheer, so you will need to wear either a tank, a cami or ONE OF THESE under it. Bonus, you know how much I love my SANDALS too. They are super, super comfy and also come in several other colors.
On Easter morning…
MADES’ DRESS//MADES’ SANDALS//ASHBY’S DRESS//ASHBY’S SANDALS
…the six Shulls all headed to church before making our way to a delicious Easter lunch in Frisco. It was such a nice (and relaxing!) way to spend Easter Sunday.
I just love my peeps so much!
You can find MY DRESS and my favorite LIPSTICK both at Nordstrom. My dress runs TTS (I bought an xs).
If you’re looking for a few other cute finds right now, here you go…
…isn’t MY TEE so super cute?! My mom bought it in BOTH colors she loved it so much. I bought THESE SNEAKERS in January and without a doubt, they’re my all-time favorite Golden Goose.
If you’re looking for something to wear at night…
…MY TOP and MY JEANS are both great picks! I bought my top in black, but it comes in prints and other fun solids (like bright yellow and pink!) too. If you ever buy Wit & Wisdom jeans, make sure you size down one size.
Every time I wear…
…THIS TOP, I get compliments!
How adorable is this gauzy button up, right?! It comes in three different color options (I bought it in blue-ivory). It’s perfect with my MOTHER jeans. Speaking of which…I LOVE this soft split neck top too! It comes in SEVEN different springy patterns. It’s just an easy way to get dressed…comfortable jeans, cute top, sandals and out the door you go!
Speaking of comfy and cute…
Oh my word, how cute are these dresses?! They’re so soft, so comfy and would work so well for running errands, travel, lunch with your girlfriends or dinner on the patio. I bought both the SOLID (also in grey) and the STRIPE (also comes in green) in xs and feel they run TTS. Again, my SANDALS come in eight different colors and are SO COMFORTABLE! I was shocked by how comfy these sandals are!
And as always, THIS IS THE ONLY STRAPLESS BRA I WEAR! This is the most comfortable bra. I wear it even on days when I could wear a “normal” bra.
Want to know a question I get asked frequently? It’s WHAT’S YOUR MOM WEARING THESE DAYS?!
I texted my mom and asked her what was on her Nordstrom Wish List right now (because she always has a Nordstrom Wish List going), and she immediately texted me back these items right here…
Speaking of moms (or other special ladies in your life!), I have a few more gift ideas from Nordstrom for you MOTHER’S DAY too…

Andrea Conrad says
Your grandmother is gorgeous!!! I’m so glad she’s doing well ❤️
Mix and Match Mama says
She is stunning inside and out! Thank you so much!
Jessica Tribbett says
I’m curious, do/did your kids ever believe in the Easter bunny? If so, what do they bring since your mom does the baskets (which is amazing!)? And if they never believed, how did you handle that with other kids? As in not telling other kids that he doesn’t exist. Thank you! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
We did not “do” the Easter bunny over here. I can’t exactly tell you why (as we certainly do Santa), but we just never did, so it hasn’t been an issue.
Alisa says
What about a grad gift list ideas for boys?
Mix and Match Mama says
Great idea! Let me see what I can come up with. This year, I have all girls to gift, but last year, I did gift several boys.
Mary Jane McNeill says
Shay, my favorite unisex grad gift to give is a clothing bar for their car. Even if they stay local, when they eventually move, they will need one.
sandi says
Grads always like money but it is hard to determine the amount, especially when if you have several all at the same time. Our kids have received checks in the amount of their grad year which is a fun idea… $20.20, $20.22. Our son received a slim leather wallet with his initials monogrammed in the corner which was a great gift since he didn’t previously have a wallet.
Here are a few others:
Dollar Shave Club starter kit (razors are expensive/it’s a monthly subscription delivered to campus especially nice if they do not have a car)
Sentry Safe (a small portable safe for keeping valuables locked up at least until you get to know your roommate)
IKEA Frakta bags (they may not appreciate it on grad day, but they will on move in day)
Leather Shave bag/travel bag monogrammed
If you did something small like the check for the grad year, a water bottle sticker for the college they are attending could be added to beef up the gift.
For girls, Billie or Athena razor starter kits would be good also.
Stacy Brown says
Holy moly those shoes are almost $600!!
Mix and Match Mama says
They do! They’re Golden Goose.

I told my hubby I wanted the Knock off ones from target or either that vintage Havana 🤣but he surprised me with some. I had to share with you bc I first saw them on your blog a few yrs ago. Anyways, I’m a stay at home mom/homeschooler so we don’t “splurge” often so I was excited!!
