Tuesday Talk: Supporting other Women!


It’s TUESDAY TALK!

Once a month, I link up with Ashley and Erika (who host this fun little blog link up), and you blog about anything and everything.

In January, I blogged about HOW I’M USING ESSENTIAL OILS NOW
In February, I decided to blog about…THE FAMILY VALENTINE’S DANCE

And today, I would like to encourage all of YOU busy ladies out there that hustle to make YOUR BUSINESS successful to comment and share.  I did this a few years ago, and it’s always stuck out as one of my favorite posts.  I know how hard it is to work at your gig (whether it be your main job, your side job, your hobby that one day you’ll hopefully turn into a job or whatever), and I love supporting other women who are doing it.  As a self-employed, have my own business, hustle every day kind of lady, it always encourages and motivates me to see other women doing it too.  For example, my sweet friend Karla…

…she’s been one of my besties for the last 13 years.  Well…when we were in NYC together this fall (as pictured in our pajamas!), we were roomies and the first night I walked into the bathroom, I was like HOLY COW, MARY KAY!  I have never seen so many Mary Kay products in one place in my life.  Alllll of the skincare, beauty stuff and makeup was neatly organized on the bathroom counter.  I immediately walked right back out and was like, “KARLA, YOU NEED TO SELL THIS!”.  Clearly, she was a devout Mary Kay user, but she was all “ahhh, I’ve been told that, but I don’t think so…”.

Karla is a high school teacher and honestly, I really didn’t think she thought she could handle anything more than that, but friends, last month, she actually started working with Mary Kay and I’ve never seen her HAPPIER!  She’s working SO HARD, but I can see an actual change in her.  She’s motivated, energized, upbeat and crushing it.  AND I KNOW SO MANY OF YOU ARE TOO!!  So, today, in the comment section, please tell us all what you’re doing and put in your link.  If several of you are doing the same thing, maybe you can network together and encourage one another?  Maybe the rest of us can scroll through and find a new Etsy shop, a new product to love, a new lady to support?  Sound like fun?  I think so 🙂 .

In the meantime, you need to check out the goodies I bought from Karla!  These are some of my faves…

Okay, I bought both of these masks (you know what a mask junkie I am!).  The charcoal one really sucks all the ick out of my skin and it feels all tingly and refreshed when I wipe it off.  I’ve been using the Timewise mask as a night mask.  It’s clear (so no one can see it), and I just apply a layer to my skin right before bed and then wake up with extra moisture and hydration.

Okay!  These little Vitamin C Squares are my FAVORITE!  I am going to post a little Insta Story today and explain them better, but I am in love! You dissolve a square with your favorite serum and then apply it to your face.  I really noticed a remarkable difference the next day.

Two pretty lip colors? Yes, please!  I bought Always Apricot and Love Me Pink.

      Shay, I did it read it again. I read it a few times. You wrote that you didn’t think that she thought she could handle it. You’re stating your thoughts about what she felt capable of doing. Karla didn’t say that she felt that way, you did. Also, I’m a little surprised on a post about building up other women you seem ok with someone commenting that another woman should “get a life”. Doesn’t seem in line with the idea of supporting other women.

    About 18 years ago I used to use a MK product on my lips and I was in LOVE. My lips get super red and bright the minute anything touches them and they had this product that kind of tamed them. I wasn’t able to find it after that one time and I have looked everywhere. I even went to Sephora and described it and the best they could do was recommend using an eyelid primer on my lips. I tried and that’s what I do now but I would give anything to find that product again. I wish I could remember the name!

    I think a Devine moment happened for me to see this post today. It’s been a struggle bus these last couple weeks and just in the past two days I have worked 27 hours!! I work as a Store Manager for a large Fortune 500 company and run a 2.5 million dollar store/business. Talk about stress and responsibility! I have a side hustle that I can’t even begin to think about when I’m working 50-60 hour weeks at my day job.     I used to teach high school math for 9 years, have a 2 and 3 year old with one on the way and my husband works crazy hours as a firefighter/paramedic!     Awesome idea, Shay, thank you. My mom and I have had fun writing locally popular children’s books. Tugger the Pretzel Pup is our first book, and the second is called Tugger & Mini-Mew. Both are written in rhyme so they are great for little ones, each have a moral/lesson at the end of the story (one about picky eating and the other about friendship), and both are available on Amazon. I always enjoy hearing that one of my books is a three to six year old’s favorite story.
