Life lately.

Happy Thursday, friends!

Here is a little look at life lately at the Shull’s house…

Last week, Andrew was one of the chaperones for the fourth grade field trip. I loved getting pics like this one during the day as they visited the art museum together and enjoyed lunch outside πŸ™‚ .

She nailed crazy sock day!

Some Mondays call for ice cream!Β  We were trying to cheer Kensington up when she had that really horrible rash, so one night, we took her for ice cream…

…because sprinkles make us happy!

I was trying to put away laundry and she was literally sitting on my foot and holding on to my leg.Β  I pulled my phone out of my pocket and took a pic because…mom life is no joke!Β  Hahaha!Β  This girl loves being close to her mommy πŸ˜‰ .

We loooooove eating at The Yard in McKinney!Β  Last Saturday night, we scored the perfect table outside for dinner.Β  This restaurant has a huge backyard for kids to run around and play.Β  The food is amazing, but the setting is absolutely perfection!

Right now, Kensington’s goal is to play volleyball for Kansas State University.Β  So, when the Wildcats came to Denton to play the Mean Green, we got our girl tickets to go see…

…she was not excited at all about it.

This was such a fun night for us!!Β  The other kids stayed with a sitter, so that we could enjoy the time with just K, and it was fantastic!Β  We had dinner on Denton’s town square before the game, and then watched the Wildcats beat the UNT Mean Green!Β  Side note: my mom and I both graduated from UNT.Β  Ha!

We love our Kansas State Wildcats!

Even my patio knows it’s fall!

Sitting outside on a beautiful Saturday morning watching our Ashby play soccer!

The Shull sisters celebrated the first day of fall with a little Sanderson sisters.Β  I bought those tees HERE.

They were singing and dancing up a storm on my bed the other night.Β  These two girls just make our house so much more JOYFUL!

The gang’s all here!Β  Now, the real question is where do Andrew and I sit????

Mades drew this pic at church of her family and even included the dogs.Β  (Her teacher labeled it for her.)Β  The fact that we all get to be a family still blows my mind.Β  God is so good!!!

A quick selfie before baking cookies after school!

Later that night, we had a hot Friday night date…pizza with kids and then grocery pick up.Β  Don’t be jealous πŸ˜‰ .

After our pizza and before our groceries, we strolled downtown.

Ashby had a friend join us Friday night, and both girls had so much fun at Mom and Popcorn getting candy for dessert.Β  If you’re local and haven’t been to our town square, I sure hope this post has convinced you that you need to go!!

Our grocery store had pumpkins out, so we bought some on Saturday for our front porch.Β  I love, love, love a good stem on a pumpkin!

Madeley has been working on spelling her name!

So, that’s a little look at life lately.Β  See you guys back here tomorrow!! xo

So fun! I love your town square! I always pray when we buy a home we can buy one near many of the small downtowns the greater Tampa Bay area offers! πŸ™‚

  • Leslie September 26, 2019 at 5:32 am

I love Madeley’s family portrait … especially giving you BIG HAIR! Girl knows her Texan thangs!

Ok, I just finished a book that made me think Of you and wanted to add to your list. Queen Bee by Dorothea Benton Frank. It’s a fun, easy read with an endorsement right on the cover by Elin Hilderbrand. Sounds like it might be right up your alley. πŸ˜‰

  • Melissa Terry September 26, 2019 at 7:04 am

Our youngest drew his first family picture the other day with baby sister (who we are adopting this fall) in it and my heart almost burst. What a miracle!
ps- I love how you decorated your patio table. It’s simple but screams fall!!

  • Laura September 26, 2019 at 7:05 am

We will be in Denton TX in a couple weeks – just swinging through for a night to check off a state for the boy on what will seem like a never-ending road trip on our way to a wedding. Any recommendations on where we should grab dinner? Or anything that is must see/do?

    • Mix and Match Mama September 26, 2019 at 7:22 am

I’m not nearly as familiar with Denton now as I used to be, but they do have a really cute downtown square with restaurants and fun shops!

  • Courtney September 26, 2019 at 7:09 am

You and your family are so precious!
I love Madeley’s shoes in her crazy sock picture. Do you know where they are from? My little would love them!

  • Lori September 26, 2019 at 7:40 am

Hi Shay…totally random, but could you share what nail polish you are wearing? Such a great fall color!

    • Mix and Match Mama September 26, 2019 at 7:55 am

It’s actually a dip from my salon (Nexgen is the brand). The color number from the Nexgen book is 70, but I think it looks just like OPI Lincoln Park at Midnight!

  • Amy September 26, 2019 at 7:42 am

poor Ashby looks like she was crying in the Sanderson Sisters shirt pic πŸ™

    • Mix and Match Mama September 26, 2019 at 7:55 am

She wasn’t! I think that was her “it’s very early in the morning, and I wish it were a weekend and not a Monday” face. I’m pretty sure I had that same face on myself. Ha!

  • Kristen September 26, 2019 at 7:51 am

The vintage paintings over your bed are so neat. Did you buy those while traveling?

  • Nikki J September 26, 2019 at 7:54 am

So fun! My one and only child is a freshman at UNT this fall! We love seeing the square when we visit. Although, it’s really hard on this mama heart for him to be 12 hours away from us, he seems to be loving it!

  • Serena September 26, 2019 at 8:13 am

Hi Shay! Do you mind sharing where you got your patio table and chairs? We have been searching for a set but not finding anything we love. TIA!

  • Rebecca Jo September 26, 2019 at 8:34 am

Kensington’s face with the volley players – that’s precious!!!!
Just think of a child around your leg as a good crossfit ankle weight πŸ™‚

  • Erika Slaughter September 26, 2019 at 8:36 am

Could your patio do me a favor and let the weather know fall is here?

  • Lauren September 26, 2019 at 8:46 am

Beautiful family! What blessings and thanks for sharing

  • Allena September 26, 2019 at 8:46 am

Curious if Kensington is tall for her age? Seems like it could go either way given you are not blessed with height but Andrew is ha! I know you don’t HAVE to be tall for volleyball, but I know it helps so just curious! My hubby is tall and I’m average, but unfortunately I think all our kiddos are taking after me, ha.

    • Mix and Match Mama September 26, 2019 at 9:03 am

We go for her well visit tomorrow, so I’ll know then! I would guess that she’s average if I’m comparing her to her friends and classmates, but who knows? Maybe when we go tomorrow, they’ll say a percentile that surprises me!

      • Allena September 26, 2019 at 9:23 am

My girls are like 10-25% in height but I think they’ll end up 5’2″ or 5’3″ but our son is ‘average’ and we are guessing he’ll be maybe 5’10” – I just love statistics and following my kids – they were all giant babies (my youngest was 10 pounds!). I meant to also suggest Carter’s for pjs and holiday shirts – they now go through size 14 and often have 50% off sales!

  • Arika September 26, 2019 at 10:31 am

I know you’ve said in the past that you don’t get too sentimental over the kids’ artwork, but that family portrait is worth saving forever!

    • Mix and Match Mama September 26, 2019 at 11:01 am

It totally is! I dated it and put it in her “forever” box.

  • Kim September 26, 2019 at 10:32 am

Thinking Andrew looks great with a combover in that family pic! Good job Madeley!! 😊

  • Erin September 26, 2019 at 12:17 pm

I have no doubt K will be playing for K-State one day.

  • Mikala September 26, 2019 at 12:58 pm

I’m a K-State grad and I love that K wants to go to school there – it’s such a great place!! Love everything about this post! πŸ™‚

  • Lauren Middleton September 26, 2019 at 1:22 pm

Love all the sweet family time! Could you link where you got your white shirt that you wore to Ashby’s soccer game?!

  • Lara September 26, 2019 at 1:32 pm

I had to look up how tall the KSU player was next to Kensington – 6’5″ WOW!!!

  • mjny September 26, 2019 at 4:50 pm

Oh how sweet!!! Ashby sent you a heart while laying on the family bed.

  • Liz Thorson September 27, 2019 at 2:58 am

What comforter(s) are on your bed! They look cozy!

  • Kacy M September 29, 2019 at 10:37 am

    M’s picture is too precious!

  • Kristi October 3, 2019 at 9:12 pm

Where do you keep all of your photos after you upload off your phone? On your computer? Help!! πŸ™‚

    • Mix and Match Mama October 4, 2019 at 4:42 am

Well, that’s been my big dilemma lately. I used to keep them nice and organized on my PC, but now, my PC hates my iPhone, and it’s super hard to transfer them. People tell me to use Dropbox or Google photos…I don’t have a solid new system yet.
