It’s What’s Up Wednesday!!
The LAST one of 2019!!
Whoa!!
Thank you so much for to everyone who has linked up with Sheaffer and me this year. We are always so excited for this post to roll around each month, and we’re grateful to all of you who blog and link up with us too! We will be back in 2020, so mark your calendars now! Okay, just like always, on the last Wednesday of every month, Sheaffer and I host this little linky party where we share what’s going on with us right now. It’s a little food, a little family, a little what we’re wearing, a little what we’re doing, a little what we’re watching and a little bit of everything else all in one post. Let’s get started with…
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
Anyone else feel this way right now?!
Everything I’ve consumed lately has included peppermint, gingerbread, egg nog and chocolate. ‘Tis the season, right?! I don’t eat it unless it’s festive! 😉
2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
We spent a lot of time down on the square this weekend which made me think back to…
…this picture right here…
…and then this one too 🙂 .
3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
Um, speaking of that last picture, I’m loving all of the FUN and FESTIVE activities we’ve had…
Ashby Shull NAILED her Readers Theater on Friday!! I was so proud of our little Comet!!
On Saturday, we had all three girls’ recital! It was an afternoon of the Nutcracker, the holiday show and all sorts of festiveness!
And then on Saturday night, it was my favorite tradition in McKinney…our Christmas Light Parade!!!
Eeeeeeks! We had so much fun!!!! This night is always my fave!!
The whole community turns out for the FUN!
Oh McKinney, we sure do love you!!
Such a special night!!
‘Tis the season 🙂 .
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
On Sunday afternoon, we went back to the square to see SANTA!!
McKinney has the cutest cottage set up by the courthouse for pics with Santa. This was a weird afternoon because the temp dropped like 40 degrees! We were lucky and caught Santa when it was warm enough to not need coats.
So many smiles. This time of year makes me HAPPY!
Love this guy.
We had the best time!!
5: WHAT I’M DREADING:
Right this minute, NOTHING!! 🙂
(Okay, that’s a lie…there’s a stack of cards I need to address and gifts I need to wrap, but if I ignore them, they’ll go away, right?!)
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
I’m not really working on anything right now as my view has been…
…but I would love to take a moment and say THANK YOU to some very special people!
Oh my word!!!
I could not have had this surgery and I would not be doing this well without my parents who came over the day after (when I was discharged from the hospital) and took my kids to the movies/to eat/just OUT and then my mom who did nothing but help me get up and down to potty/she fed me/she brought me pillows and the heating pad. She was amazing. And then there’s Erika, who for a week, drove me around Driving Ms. Daisy style. She took me to Target, she took me to every one of my kids’ “things”, she ran errands with me and for me and she came over to walk (at a snail’s pace) around my neighborhood with me.
And then this guy right here…I have always been super thankful for my sweet husband, but after almost 16 years of marriage, I really don’t think I’ve ever loved him more. He handled everything. The list is literally too long to type…but I am so thankful for him.
WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
There’s a new niece or nephew coming soon!!!!!!
Eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeks!!!
Do we think it’s a boy or a girl?!
I think it’s a girl. I thought Samuel and Isaiah were girls too though, so it’s probably a boy.
8: WHAT I’M WATCHING/READING:
Woohoo!!!!!! My 2019 Book Review was posted yesterday and makes me SO HAPPY!!!! If you want to see what I read in December (three amazing books!!), what I loved in 2019 and what the three best books of the year were in my opinion, click HERE.
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
Right this minute? Jingle Bell Rock.
I am going to be so sad when the Christmas music is over. I could listen year around.
10: WHAT I’M WEARING:
Hello there super cute sweater…
…you’re so pretty and cozy soft!! AND right now, you’re also 50% off!!!! It comes in two colors and seriously, we all might need both!
Other outfit details: my earrings are HERE and my boots are HERE.
Then, I topped it with…
LOOOOOOVE!!!!
For a size reference, I think it’s true to size. I bought an xsmall.
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
Everything Christmas-y I can cram into two days!!!
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
I love January. It’s always a beautiful calm after the crazy fun holiday season.
13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
That’s it! I have to run!! There is Christmas stuff to do!!!!

Speaking of a new niece or nephew..yesterday my four year old nephew told my mom “my mommy has two babies in her belly but don’t tell because it’s a secret.” We are all shocked and super excited!! Being an aunt is the best and I am so excited for your growing family!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awe!!!!! That is so exciting!!!

Merry Christmas, to our Texas family! I hope you are taking a lot of time to rest in between all of these Christmas activities! From one who has been there, you really need it! Wishing you and your precious family a wonderful holiday season! Now I am heading to Florida for round two Christmas! We celebrated with our oldest daughter and family last week-end with all the snow!

I don’t know if you want to answer this or not… but I was curious if Kensington and/or Smith still believe in Santa Clause!?
Mix and Match Mama says
I think they do. I don’t want to ask…and I know they think you have to believe to receive, so we’re in that awkward do you/don’t you stage right now. I’m going to pretend like they do 😉 .
MelanieL says
Don’t ever ask a question you don’t want the answer to is my thought about Santa! I mean it’s obvious now but we don’t talk about it. My kids are 15 and 13 and they get still excited for Santa to come!! 🙂
Nancy says
Can you link your mom’s leather jacket? She looks so stylish!

OMG i cannot wait to hear about the new niece or nephew!! And seriously, it’s a shame Madeley is lacking so much in personality. I’m cracking up over her in these pics!

You are my Christmas inspiration! I am watching my 2-year-old niece this weekend and she loves everything Christmas so far. The kids really make it so magical!

Which pair of Sorel boots are your favorite? If you could only have 1 pair of them, which one would you pick?! I’m struggling hard on this one! Also, how do you think they fit size wise?
Glad everyone’s recovery is going well!
Merry Christmas!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I think they all fit true to size and I would get a Joan of Arctic wedge bootie!

I’m getting girl vibe from Catherine but I’m rarely ever right lol.
Also love that sweater! Ran and ordered it hehe
Joanne says
Sounds like you are recovering well and had lots and lots of help! That’s wonderful. I am so jealous that you get to do Christmasy things without always having coats on. LOL. It’s so cold here… and snowing again.
Kelly says
I had a hysterectomy two and a half years ago and I’m sure it was at least 2 weeks before I even left the house! You are doing amazing! Enjoy all the Christmasy things 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you! I feel really great right now!
Kimberly C says
Hi Shay! If you need another Christmas movie while you’re still recovering (so glad it’s going well) I would really like to recommend Borrowed Hearts. I have it on DVD but my sisters tell me it’s available on Amazon Prime. I think it’s a darling movie.
I love that McKinney does a lighted parade. My hometown does a generic Holiday parade the weekend before Thanksgiving and I would LOVE it if they did a lighted version of it =]
Have a fantastic Christmas filled weekend!
