It’s Monday!
I thought we’d kick off our week with a little life lately…
Last week, I shared so many random facts about the dogs…and one I said for Frenchie is how she’s always right there by Kensington. These two are too cute 🙂 .
Speaking of cute, they made me emojis…all proportional to their sizes. Ha!
We all may hate this quarantine right now, but gosh, Yankee has been loving all of the extra time with Smith. I’m always trying to find some sort of silver lining and that has for sure been one of them…
…these two have gotten just so close over these last few weeks…
…the sweetest 🙂 .
Speaking of close, anyone else feel like they’re running a diner?! Breakfast, lunch, dinner and repeat over here! I might not love emptying the dishwasher and cleaning off counters, but I sure love not eating lunch by myself any more.
Oh my word! Look at this picture!!!! Isn’t it the sweetest?!?! She won’t get to have her graduation ceremony this year from Pre-K, but I’m so thankful that we got this picture!!!!
I was cleaning up the kitchen the other night and looked out the window to see this…God is big. He is still there, still present and still so BIG.
She had a zoom call with her class last week. I’ve been so thankful that all of my kids’ teachers have made a huge effort with zoom calls. My kiddos sure do miss their friends!
The other night, I was tucking my bigs in bed and pulled my phone out of my pocket to take a pic. They were laughing so hard because the room was dark, and I said “smile” only to snap this…
…Smith’s ceiling! They thought it was the funniest thing…
…and could not stop laughing after that.
There are just so many things to say about this one picture. First, they got themselves dressed…all in Kensington’s clothes. Second, that’s their “tent” in the background. They’ve been sleeping inside of that chaos. And finally, I said smile and Madeley did this. I don’t know know why? Ha!
All I know is that I’m trying (not always successfully but I’m really trying) to soak in my moments with these peeps. I just keep telling myself that at some point, I’m going to look back and miss all of this together time because I’ll never get it again, so I better really soak it in now.
I hope YOU all have a great start to your week! xx

I love looking for the silver lining! It may not be easy or fun, but I’m trying to find “the good” too! Take care!

I absolutely love the quote at the end of your post – it is perfect for what our nation is currently going through. Your posts are always a positive start to my day ?

Aw, I love these! I know I’ve been telling myself to soak in this extra time of having nothing going on with my family. It’s a crazy time but I know we will look back and have some fond memories.

Madeley’s school picture is soooo darling!
Sheaffer Sims says
Well, your kids sure do look like they are enjoying themselves! And I totally agree…no matter how scary and uncertain these times are, I’m convinced that most of those that are not medical professions and those not infected by the virus or with friends and family infected will look back at this time as precious extra time with family. Time that we will never get again. So many prayers for those on the front lines and those that have it.

The picture of Madeley looking at her classmates is so sweet.

Hello! When are you going to blog about your Hawaii recap? Excited for that!
Mix and Match Mama says
At some point we will! I think we’re going to wait a bit though…maybe closer to summer?

I love that last quote. There is something good in every day as long as we stop to look! I started keeping a gratitude journal March 1st, not knowing all this quarantine stuff would happen and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Writing things down at the end of the day that I’m grateful for keeps me present throughout the day looking for those good things. And during this time more than any other, it’s a great reminder that life is good. Even when there are some not great things going on around us or in our lives.

Hi Shay!
Do you have an Amazon shop page? Where one can easily find your favourite art supplies, game recommendations, fashion posts etc?
Mix and Match Mama says
I don’t but I should!

OMG the cooking and meal planning are on overload!!! I went from an empty nest to having two college kiddos home, which I absolutely love, but my grocery bill has tripled! The other night as I was heading to bed at 10:30 pm my daughter decided to start baking!! I will say waking up to cookies and rice crispie treats was pretty nice though. Our kitchen and WIFI (with 2 taking online college classes and 2 of us working from home) are getting such a workout! But I love that my family has pulled together and we will probably never have this much togetherness again. Stay healthy & safe!

Needed this. Sometimes the stinkin thinkin ? gets in my way. My youngest is 20. We’ve shared more meals in this last three weeks then when he was smiths age. Time has slowed down for a bit. My oldest just had his fifth child with his wife on Saturday and I so wanted to be there Lots of FaceTime zoom and pictures made it better but i was still sad. I read your post and realized. That God made all that technology available. That this gives my sons family time to bond with Bennett in a different way and I know we all will appreciate that freedom again. Last night I was able to help a shut in with some things she couldn’t have gotten because she just got out of surgery and it was such a blessing and she was so excited over getting toilet paper butter and sanitizing wipes it made me realize how fortunate I am because I just grab them out of my pantry. Thank you God thank you for Shay pointing out the trut. Shay may you and your family be blessed today

I noticed the door knocker on your bed room! Do the kids adhere to “knocking first”?? One of our is good about knocking, one isn’t – but I love the door knocker!
Mix and Match Mama says
They bang really loud first. Does that count? 😉 We’re still working on it! Ha!

Your children and dogs are all adorable, even more so together!
I was wondering, are you still dealing with coyotes? Did I miss the update at some point?
Glad you all are safe, healthy, and happy down there!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh heavens…not nearly as often (it was a daily occurrence there for about 8 weeks), but just when I start to think they’re gone, I see another one. At 10:45 this morning, there was one in the backyard!
Karah Stracener says
I love that quote you posted. I’m trying to soak up these moments as well because time goes by so fast. Your family is precious. Thanks for always being a light in these dark days.
Sandy Hunter, Albuquerque NM says
Your posts always brighten my day. Especially during this difficult time of self quarantining.

Last week was tough trying to coordinate distance learning, taking care of 3 kids, cooking ALL THE TIME, and having a full-time job. I kept thinking these same things – I was trying to soak it in, focus on how special this time is to all be together, slow down, celebrate small things (like my 7 yo FINALLY mastering her bike) vs. wallowing. Although I did wallow some haha.
Annie says
Hi Shay! Is your rose gold laptop a MacBook Air? How long have you owned it/would you recommend to others?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! I think three years and yes, love it!!

I saw a wonderful sunset while walking the dog last evening. It rained all day and felt dreary. But seeing that sunset (and your words on this post) made me reflect that God was showing us a silver lining, His glory, the completion and gift of another day, and the promises He has made to us. We are never alone… He loves us so.
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick says
Smith and Yankee are precious together. But I could say that about all your kids. I can’t believe how grown up Kensington looks now! They are all getting so big!

Madeley in her cap and gown – OMG THE CUTEST!!! I have to say that will definitely be my takeaway from all of this – time spent with my family! We have one daughter who will be a junior and high school goes so fast! (it all does, but those 4 years are definitely speed train FAST!)I know my husband and I will look back forever thankful for this extra time with her and one another. Thank you for always brightening my day Shay! Take care!
Kristin says
Such a great quote! I’m trying to soak up all this bonus family time….the years sure are short!
I know you have linked the plastic trays you use for the kids placemats on the island, but would you mind linking again? I spent over an hour searching the site AND amazon and can’t find these….they would be perfect for my messy eaters! Thank you!

Thanks for sharing your life on here and all the fun you have! I literally LOL at “running a diner” comment! I have seriously felt like that. Seems get kitchen cleaned up and husband or girls wanting something else! ?

Opps, hit the wrong button… hi! Just wondering how you guys are dealing with not seeing grandparents? Are your kids able to understand? We have a little one who is too young to understand, but maybe that’s for the best right now? Thanks for giving us a little glimpse!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awww! You know, it’s hard. My kids have really gotten into Zoom calls/facetime with friends and family. I’m assuming the novelty will wear off, but for now, they feel “big” doing it.
