It’s Tuesday Talk!
Once a month, I link up with Ashley and Erika and share a little randomness…today, we’re chattin’ a little about what my kids are wearing back to school.
I’ve had so many questions lately about what I’m buying my kiddos for the new school year and right now, the answer is not much. It’s still super hot here and they’re learning from home, so play clothes from the summer will totally do. That being said, here are a few things for those of you who are looking for your kiddos right now. A few new pieces always makes things feel a bit more back to school 🙂 .
I seriously think that’s a photo of me. Bahaha! LIKE FOR REAL!!!!
Okay…
Thiiiiiis pretty much sums them all up. Ha! Ashby is obsessed with her sandals, and this time, we paired them with this cute dress here because it’s light but looks a little fall, Madeley is looking super cute in her Wildflower dress (again, short-sleeve but looks like fall!), Kensington has on all.the.layers (that’s so totally her!) and Smith refuses to wear anything but ugly t-shirts 😉 . You can find K’s top and sweater both at Old Navy!
If you’re a boy mom out there, this post will be no help. It’s UA shorts and a Yankees tee on repeat. When it gets colder, he loves Abercrombie jeans the most…with more Yankees tees. Sigh.
I get a lot of questions about cute outfits like this one. My favorite place to shop? Etsy! This Etsy shop is called Stitch & Quilt.
I get so many questions about where we get Kensington’s clothes and the answers are typically Old Navy, Gap, Nordstrom and J. Crew! This girls loves a layer 🙂 . It really doesn’t matter what season it is, she wants sneakers on her feet and a sweater over her clothes. Her jeans are oldies but goodies, but you can still find her sweater and her top.
Another sweater and top combo for the win!
Another thing all three of my girls enjoy to wear in the fall…
…festive tees 🙂 . Oh my word, my girls are obsessed with any sort of festive t-shirt…
…I have no idea where they get that. 😉
Clearly these pics are from last year, but I would say if your kiddos are into this too, my favorite places to get these cute things for both myself and my girls…
…are Etsy and Jane 🙂 .
Awwww! I love all the fall!
One last thing, thank YOU for the backpack suggestions!!! We didn’t know where to shop for Kensington, but after your suggestions, she finally landed on…
…this one here! Thank YOU!! You guys always know the best places to get everything 🙂 .
That’s a little Tuesday Talk for you.
I hope you have the best day!! See you guys tomorrow 🙂 .

Adorable children and adorable clothes!
Does Kensington and Smith have to be on the computer all day? What hours are they actually on the computer… from 8:00 till ? Do they still get homework too?
Have a terrific Tuesday!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
They all four have to be on all day long. I think it’s brutal!! The elementary kids are on 8 to 3:07 and K is on 8:45 to 4:52. They get a break for lunch (and the littles for recess). I haaaaaaate that they’re on the computer all day but hopefully, this is only for a few weeks!
Rachel says
Why is the kindergarten day so much longer?
Mix and Match Mama says
In Texas, kinder is all day just like 1-5th grades.
Chrissy says
4:52?! I’ve never heard of such a thing–that’s like an adult’s work day! I am shocked, but maybe I’m out of touch from 15 years ago when my middle school was 8-3?!
Mix and Match Mama says
Did I type 4:52? 3:52! K goes 8:45 to 3:52.
Elspeth says
I love the festive t shirts and all the layers for Kensington! I am always cold so a sweater is a must for me! Thanks for sharing!!

Can I get that backpack?! They are so many cute options these days. That photo of Ashby & Madeley brings joy (they are so cute!) and sadness of what we all use to do in the coming months.

Great choice on the Vera Bradley backpack.
Mix and Match Mama says
I never would have looked there without all of your suggestions!!!
Jill says
Boy mom here but I love to see the little girls clothes so I read it all, haha! My boys wear a ton of Old Navy athletic clothes and the khaki joggers are a big hit too! Ninja jeans at Old Navy are like jeggings for boys, the only kind they will wear. You can see the trend at our house for my boys clothes!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh Smith. He’s just so content in those dang Yankees tees. Sigh.
Kelly says
I love K’s style! Girl after my own heart:). Looking good, kids!
Kelly says
I’m a fellow Kelly and I love nothing more than layers and tennis shoes!

So cute! I am so ready to look for Fall fashion finds for my girls, thank you for sharing! Can you share where you got your grey sneaker/booties that you are wearing with your pumpkin T?
Mix and Match Mama says
Those are from Nordstrom!!
Joanne says
Yep, as a mom of three I can confirm that it’s mostly just athletic shorts/pants and graphic tee’s on repeat just about all year long. I seriously have problems when my boys need something nicer to wear!
Anna says
What do you guys end up doing with their old backpacks when you buy new ones for school?
Mix and Match Mama says
We use them for other things and/or donate them.
Susan Crivella says
My 6th grader also wanted Vera Bradley this year. We went to the outlet though and got a great deal with a matching lunch box!
Lisa says
If anyone has a Vera Bradley outlet near, they are the best to shop. they might not have as many choices but apparently that is the ‘IT’ thing for preteen girls. we were able to get my daughter her new lunch bag and a lanyard they need for school for $20 total!
Melanie M. says
They all look so cute and grown up! I realize they are not actually going to school in person at this time, but, I do miss the traditional backpack pictures that you take at the first of school. I hope all goes well for each one of them this school year…..and for you, too!
Anne says
Are K and Smith the same height now? It’s funny how she always stands on her toes. Maybe to look taller?
Mix and Match Mama says
They’re close to each other!! She’s a little taller!
Anna Jones says
Where did you get the little girls jeans with the ruffle at the bottom that they are wearing in the fair pic?? Love those!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Matilda Jane 🙂

My 11-year-old son ONLY wears athletic shorts (or joggers/sweats in winter) and t-shirts. When I want him to dress ‘nice’ it’s elastic waisted knit shorts with a tee HA! Jeans are a huge battle! I am 100% here for Kensington’s uniform except leggings instead of jeans ha. I almost always have a sweater on inside our house and have a ton! AND I love a seasonal tee – I can still get my girls to wear them but have to force anything festive on my son HA! I was going to suggest a Jansport backpack, I still use mine from college (it’s 20 years old!), but that Vera Bradley one is SO cute!!

Kensington is growing up so much! Such cute outfits!
