Hey, hey Wednesday!
It’s a super-sized post!
First, I have a few new pieces from Cassie’s latest Gibson line launching today and then, it’s PART TWO of our Hawaiian vacation recap!
A few weeks ago, Erika and I shared our podcast episode recapping the entire vacation the we took last March and then let you know we’d be breaking it down on blog recaps throughout the summer too (because pictures really do say a thousand words!). If you missed the podcast, you can listen HERE (we recap the entire vacation) and then if you missed our first recap, check it out HERE.
Today, I’m sharing pics from when we boarded the ship and set sail on our seven night Hawaiian cruise PLUS our first port in gorgeous Maui where we went whale watching…but first…
…Cassie’s latest collection is out today!!! Eeeeeks! I’m so excited for her!! Plus, as always, use promo code SHAY15 for 15% off your order! The first piece I knew I needed to grab and share with you guys was this dress here 🙂 . It comes in several different fun prints and colors, is lined (so no undie lines will show!) and it has pockets. I love a dress with pockets.
I paired it with my turquoise hoops for an extra pop…
…and my clear strappy sandals.
How adorable is Cassie in this print of the same dress? So cute!
I am 5’3″ and it’s hard to find a long dress I can wear with flat sandals, so I wanted to show you the length of this dress (I am wearing an xs). I could totally wear it with a shorter heel as well!
As much as I love dresses, when it comes to summertime, I’m a t-shirt kind of girl…
…this embroidered top is easy to wear but way cuter than your basic tee. (Speaking of cute, I love my yellow sandals!)
Paired with my all-time favorite shorts and I’m ready to head out the door! This top also comes in other colors as well!
Um, look at this cute tee!!! Give me all the blue and white stripes for summer!!
It comes in white too 😉 .
And finally…
…I love a blouse I can dress up or down. This top (also in other prints) works well with my shorts but would look cute in the matching skirt or with pants!
Thanks to Cassie, I’m all fixed up for summer! Everything I shared with you was in an xs.
One last thing, I can’t quit it with my new sandals from J Crew! They come in so many fun colors for summer but this neutral color here spoke right to me.
Congrats, Cassie!!! Another amazing collection!! You can shop every piece (she has so many other cute items right now!) on Gibson’s site. From pants to dresses, skirts and more tops, it’s all gorgeous! So happy, so bright, so adorable! Make sure you check out everything (there are so many!!!) HERE and use promo code SHAY15 for 15% off your order!!! xo
Okay, time to recap PART TWO of our Hawaiian vacation!!
We left off in PART ONE…
…with us finishing off our time in Ko Olina and about to board a cruise ship for a seven night Hawaiian island sailing!
The next morning, we loaded up in a big van and headed off to the cruise terminal to board Norwegian Cruise Line’s Pride of America!
We boarded, dropped off our bags and headed straight to lunch. I have my man and my lei 🙂 .
After lunch, we all went straight to the pool to kick off our amazing cruise! Seriously, boarding a cruise ship is one of my VERY favorite things to do!!!
The kids had the best time swimming that afternoon, and we enjoyed the laziness of the day.
After swimming, we all got cleaned up and watched the ship leave the port of Honolulu. After that, it was time for dinner!
I love a fun dinner on board a ship with my bestie and our fams! We ate, we went to the nightly entertainment, we laughed a ton and then…
…we slept hard.
When we woke up the next morning, we were in Maui! We were super pumped because on this day, we had an excursion through Norwegian to head visit the town of Lahaina and go whale watching! If you haven’t listened to our podcast, you should as we go into great detail about this day. IT WAS OUR FAVORITE!!!! Seriously, when I looked back (15 months later) on this trip, this day in particular stands out as our very favorite.
Here we are on board our ship about to disembark and head off for our tour. This is Instagram life…
…and this is real life. Hahahahaha! #somanykids
The cruise line had shuttle buses lined up to take us from the ship into town…
…oh Lahaina, I love you! I’ve been to this town many, many times and when I think of Hawaii, it’s always the first place that comes to mind. Before our whale watching excursion, we had time to look around.
Besties with matching Hawaiian flower necklaces…
…and besties with matching Hawaiian baseball caps.
Tab and Erika said he didn’t need a ukulele. His smile told me that he did. He played it the entire trip! (Side note: a ukulele is much more enjoyable when it’s not being played by your own child in your own cruise cabin. bahahaha!)
We were so excited when it was time to board the boat for whale watching!! (Again, you should listen to the podcast!)
All aboard! Time to check out the whales!
This tour was only about two hours but we saw SO MANY WHALES!!!!!
I’ll post videos on Stories today so you can see up close, but we were blown away by the number of whales we saw that time of year!
I seriously think I have over 100 pictures and videos of whales on my phone from that day…but I won’t post them all 😉 .
It was a great day for whale watching with your bestie!
This was seriously an excursion we’ll never forget.
When we got back on land, the 12 of us headed over to Lahaina Fish Co for a DELICIOUS lunch!
Our table wasn’t noisy at all.
We finished the day with a bit more shopping and then some ice cream.
It was a magical day in Maui.
We headed back to the ship that evening and got dressed for dinner.
We were all still having a whale of a good time 😉 .
Being on a cruise ship is magical, friends.
That night, the ship stayed in port, so we woke up the next morning still…
…docked in Maui! We decided that since the day before was such a BIG day, we would use this day as our “enjoy the ship day”. We stayed by the pool and relaxed all day long.
I love that as I’m taking this pic of Andrew and his girl, you also see Tab tickling his girl in the background.
You know it’s a good day when you’re too busy enjoying it to take a lot of pics.
I do think Britt at dinner though does sum us all up ;).
That’s PART 2! Next week, we’re sharing PART 3!
Erika also blogged our trip today too, so make sure you hop on over to her blog to check it out!
In the meantime, I have to get busy booking more magical Mix and Match Travel Agency vacations! It’s been fun reminiscing with you. See you tomorrow! xx

I LOVE THAT DRESS ON YOU!!!! SO PRETTY!!!
Amber says
I love the tops! Since they are 100% rayon did you have any trouble with shrinkage? Rayon scares me hahaha!
Mix and Match Mama says
I will not dry two out of the three! I’ll let those air dry just to be sure!
Emily H says
Can you link your turquoise swim cover up? Love love love it!! Thanks!!
Andrea says
We’re considering this cruise for our next extended family vacation. Is the nightly entertainment family friendly or more adult oriented?
Mix and Match Mama says
When we were on board, the kids could go every night!
Kim says
Can you link the greenish cover up you were wearing in the pic of you and Kensington?
Mix and Match Mama says
Let me see if it’s still in stock!
Kim says
and the moon and star necklace too, please!
Sally Ratcliff says
Yes!! I’d like info on the green coverup too!
Crystal D says
Shay with your motion sickness, how did you handle the cruise and whale-watching boat? I get queezy just imagining them.
Mix and Match Mama says
I talk about this in our podcast. I was VERY MUCH prepared to throw up the whole time, but I didn’t get sick at all. I honestly think I was so distracted by the whales I almost forgot I was on a boat.
Leah says
Madeley’s expressions are always a mood :). How many times have you been to Hawaii?
Mix and Match Mama says
Several! Maybe 10 or so? It’s my parents favorite place to go, so we went a few times growing up.
Jenny N says
Maui is one of my favorite places to visit!! Love reading both of your recaps!
Karen Isabell says
I love, love, love this vacation recap! My family stayed at Ko’Olina in 2016 and it’s still one of my MOST favorite trips ever. My fam also loves cruising. I was laughing when I saw the picture of Madeley and Britt with Fruit Loops because boxed cereal is always my go-to port snack on a cruise 🙂 There aren’t many “snack” options on a cruise so I always slip a boxed cereal in my beach bag in case I get hungry between meals off the ship Ha!
Andrea says
1) That first dress is SO CUTE on you!!!
2) I can’t get over how much your kids have grown this year
3) WHALES!!! AHHHH!!!!
Carrie says
Can you link the green coverup??? I saw it in your Mexico posts too!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!! I’ll get the link and post it tomorrow!
Marcel Urban says
Do you know how fast she ships out the dresses? Have it in my cart but leaving for vacation on the 25th! The only shipping option she offers is free USPS. Would I get it in time? Thank you!!?
Mix and Match Mama says
Agh! In the past, I don’t remember thinking Gibson took long to ship things at all, but I don’t remember all of the details exactly. I would hope you’d have it by then!!
Elspeth says
Such a fun trip! Thanks for sharing!

Amy says
Where can I get that yellow wrap top? ?
Mix and Match Mama says
That was an Amazon find!
Shelly says
I was born and raised in Lahaina. When we were kids, our school was next to the banyan trees and we used that area for recess. It was not that “touristy” in those days. I’m glad your family had fun but I’m surprised at how close the boat got to the whales. There are rules the boats are supposed to follow and they are not supposed to get that close. Anyway, I live on the Big Island now but Maui is always my favorite island.
Jenna says
I loved this post!! I live on Maui and love seeing other people enjoy this special place!
On a different note, do you have any experience with Caraway Cookware? I’m on the fence about buying a set. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwww! I love that you live on Maui! I don’t have any Caraway Cookware. I’m sorry!
Jaime says
Did Kensington ever get to take her 10 year trip? Did smith get his? I love this idea/concept so much!
Mix and Match Mama says
Kensington took her trip two years ago to Hawaii. Smith is taking his trip this year!
Ellie says
Hi! Cuuuuute top from

Mix and Match Mama says

This would look darling with your yellow sandals 🙂
Erika Slaughter says
Oh my gosh!!! Loved seeing all your pics!! Britt at dinner might be my fave! When you vaca hard then it’s difficult to stay awake while you eat. ??
Deena says
That whale watching excursion looks great! We didn’t do one but saw a ton of whales when we were on our way from Hawaii to Vancouver. We happened to be in the lounge at exactly the right time and probably saw a hundred although not as close up as you did. It looks like such a perfect trip. We also did a cruise in early March and everything seemed to happen the week after we got back. We lived on those memories for many months.
