We LOVE making crab cakes!!
If you haven’t made crab cakes at home, they are SO EASY! It’s basically like making meatballs…you add everything in your bowl, shape them into your desired size and bake (or in this case, air fry).
We love our air fryer for pretty much every single thing, and even if it requires several batches, for us, it’s totally worth it to get that delicious crispiness.
These crab cakes are suuuuuuper simple (only four ingredients!) and easily made gluten-free.
From my family to yours, happy crab cake making! xx

If you haven’t made crab cakes at home, they are SO EASY! It’s basically like making meatballs…you add everything in your bowl, shape them into your desired size and bake (or in this case, air fry).

Ingredients
- one pound of lump crab meat
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons Italian breadcrumbs (we use g-free)
- a drizzle of Extra Virgin Olive Oil (EVOO)
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, add in your crab, egg and bread crumbs. Combine until well mixed and then shape into four “cakes”.
- Drizzle each crab cake with a little bit of EVOO and pop in the air fryer for 14 minutes at 390 degrees.
- Remove and serve. We served these with gluten-free pasta tossed in pesto. Easy as that!

I’ve been looking for a reason to get another air fryer! My first one bit the dust, this crab cake recipe sounds a lot easier than I thought, thank you for posting this ❤️

Shay, I have never used an air fryer (I know, It’s crazy) but have one here still in the box. This recipe has inspired me….so today is the day!! When you “fry” in batches does your food get cold? This has to be a dumb question. Maybe it will make more sense when I actually get started?!? .
Also, every day that I read a post about your first summer in Nantucket, it just leaves me feeling happy. Thank you so much for sharing and taking us along on all of your adventures.

Yay!!! Marla, do it! It’s such a game changer! Okay, typically, we can just put a little foil on top of the first batch, and it stays nice and warm. If we are doing multiple batches (because maybe the size is way too big/quantity too much), we turn the oven on really low and keep it warm in the oven. You are truly one of my FAVORITE people, Marla. Sending you so much love! xx

Did you bring a slow cooker with you to your new home? Has it been easy to find gluten free groceries on the island ?
Mix and Match Mama says
We did! We brought one from home. Finding g-free goodies has been really easy too at both grocery stores and restaurants. It’s a pretty g-free friendly place!

What gf bread crumbs do you like? Also do you have gf pizza crusts to recommend???
Mix and Match Mama says
We use Aleia’s (I think that’s how you spell it?). We buy it at home and it’s here on Nantucket in the regular grocery store too!

This is a great idea! I read many toaster ovens have an air fryer option now, they hold more. Some even have two racks (Gormia) . I like this one at Target, Cuisinart Air Fryer Toaster Oven. Let us all know if you’ve looked into these maybe 😊

This sounds delish!!! I love crab cakes but have never attempted to make them at home. This might be a silly question – where do you buy lump crab meat? Can you get it a a regular grocery store? And is it raw or pre-cooked when you buy it? Thank you!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!! Your local grocery store will have it right by your fish monger. It’s probably in a can by the fresh fish. We buy it regularly both here at in Texas!
Vidya Hawkins says
If I don’t have an air fryer, can I make them on the grill? Oven?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! Preheat your oven to 375 degrees and bake about 15ish minutes (or until crispy on the outside).
Tish says
Do you buy fresh crab meat at the grocery or buy it in a can? I’m not finding it fresh at my grocer but assuming I may be looking in the wrong area! 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
In McKinney, I buy it canned (by my fish monger), but here, we can buy it fresh in a tub that they have each day.
