Happy happy WEEKEND!
Thank you so much for stopping by today and spending time here with me. I am oh so very grateful!
We are off to afternoon soccer before more Homecoming fun.
Here’s wishing you gorgeous September weather and something pumpkin in your future.
Enjoy your Saturday! xx
Well, I know I posted this pic on Instagram last weekend…
…but it’s just too cute not to share again. 🙂
For all of you mamas or grandmamas out there with littles in tow, might I suggest this…
…it’s Mades’ “fun bag”!
For years now, this girl always brings a bag with her anytime we leave the house. As you can see, this time, it was just an old Lululemon sack. Inside, she keeps a random assortment of things from playing cards to markers, books, Polly Pockets and more. I wish I would have encouraged a fun bag with my other kiddos as it is the perfect way to entertain her (without using technology!) whenever we’re away from home. On this particular night, we were waiting for our table at a restaurant and instead of having nothing to do, these two played with her Polly Pockets until our table was ready. I think one big key to having a fun bag is remembering to bring it with you. Mades keeps hers right by the door or sometimes, even in the car. It’s just a great little addition for our family, so I wanted to share.
Because coffee just tastes better in a jack-o-lantern mug 🙂 .
My current view…
…from my desk just fills me with joy. So much joy.
What’s better than just a trip to Hawaii?!
A trip to Hawaii where…
…you get to meet Mickey!!
Aulani is more than just a mouse. It’s impeccable service, a fabulous hotel, gorgeous views, and all of the aloha magic you expect from Disney.
Prices range and promotions run often, so let us give you a quote before you make your next vacation decision.

Two weeks ago when Smith was helping me get the fall decorations out, we noticed that I needed a new part to one of my Halloween houses. I handed him my phone and asked him to please locate said part. About five minutes later, he said “Mom, I found this house, and it looks just like something you would like.”.
When he showed me the picture, I “added to cart” immediately.
I bought it because yes, it does look like something I would love, but more than that, I will think of him every single year when I pull it out and plug it in. I will remember how sweet he was to help me this year and smile. I love my little house but not nearly as much as I love my boy.
I have read this book with all three of my fourth grade girls. Right now, I’m reading it for the final time with my final fourth grader and every night when we crawl into her bed to read a few pages, my heart melts into a puddle. I bet I’ve read this book 50 times since my own childhood (I LOVED Judy Bloom books growing up), but this final pass right now is probably my favorite.
When your soon to be (tomorrow!!!!) sixteen year old daughter asks you to watch her favorite new movie, you do! This week, I watched Priscilla on Prime and loved it too. I don’t know much about Elvis other than standard pop culture things, so this movie was very eye-opening and fascinating to me. If you’re looking for something non-fall to watch this weekend, I do really recommend it.
That wraps up our Saturday post! Thanks again for stopping by. I’ll see you all back here on Monday! xx

I love that Smith found that house for you … while he was helping you with a typical ‘Dad’ chore. 💙
Also, great tip about the fun bag. This grandmother will use it!
No pumpkins around here yet 🙁
But I’ve got my mums!

Have you watched the perfect couple yet??? So good! It had been a while since I read the book and couldn’t remember the ending. They did an awesome job keeping you guessing! I hope a few more of Elins books turn into movies! I haven’t watched Priscilla yet, maybe tonight!

I haven’t watched it yet, but it’s on my list!

My son turned 16 a week ago and is also now driving. Omg, this is the weirdest/ hardest/ scariest/ most liberating milestone yet. He can drive himself to school, drive his sister to get Chick-fil-A, run out to grab something for me, and so on. But also, why is my baby who was born yesterday operating a vehicle??

Aw! That house is adorable but I love the memory that you have with Smith and will always remember when you pull it out each year!

A quick comment about a boy’s “fun bag”, my younger son, who was not into sports, was always dragged to his older brother’s games. He always took a Pottery Barn lunch box filled with legos and that kept him entertained for hours. We’d keep it off to the side and he’d just grab and go.

Happy Saturday! Can’t believe you will have a 16 year old! Have a great weekend!

That little house is adorable! And I love that you’ll think about that moment every year. Also, needed a new movie suggestion, so thank you! Have a lovely weekend!

I loved Judy Blume books too when I was a kid! I think it’s awesome that your Mades is “old school” with her fun, go bag! Technology really didn’t exist when our kids were little so they had no option but to bring a book or small toy to entertain themselves.

Thank you for the great idea of an”fun bag”. We are off today on adventure with my granddaughter and I’m going to make one for today!

I have my own version of Mades’ bag, Gigi’s bag, that I use when we go out to dinner with our twin granddaughters. It is always filled with coloring books, crayons, stickers, mini Magnatiles, etc. They’re 3 now, and this bag has kept them entertained through SO many nice dinners out. I highly recommend the idea!

I need to check out Priscilla. Wondering if you watched part 2 of the newest Emily in Paris season? I LOVED it but I also liked part 1 and I know you and many fellow readers didn’t.

We always had a fun bag for our kids to take places. With 4 girls we always had a busy schedule with practices, games and all the things. That little bag saved us so many times.

A fun bag is an excellent idea, which I believe I got from you in another post! I keep one for my grandbaby because otherwise, she would be making a mess with everything she shouldn’t be just to entertain herself.
Cathy Perez says
I think that’s such a good idea for the children to bring a bag full of the things they like to keep them busy!

As an auntie I used to keep a “Restaurant Bag” in my car for my nephews when they were little. I would pick up small things to put in it and they were very entertained discovering new little trinkets like hot wheels, mini puzzles, etc. we waited for our food. They are 21 & 23 now and commented recently how kids these days need restaurant bags because they are all on their phones.

We’ve carried a “fun” bag since our son was diagnosed with asthma and we need to keep albuterol with us! He likes to draw so it’s always been a variety of markers, pencils, crayons, and paper. Now that he’s 8 there’s puzzle books and cards too. It stays in my car so we always have it.

Aw Shay, this brought back so many memories. Our #3 was the baby of the family and she was on the go from about the moment she was born. She always had a bag ready to go (usually in the car) that she’d fill with crafty things and toys she’d enjoy while at the older two kids’ activities. She and a little friend really got into making bracelets for a while and one winter, almost everyone in our wrestling family crowd had a bracelet the girls made while watching their older siblings. Such fun memories!
I’d have bought that house immediately too – absolutely love how Smith showed you something he thought you’d enjoy.
Being from a different part of the country, I’d love to hear more about what homecoming is like there. As always, thanks for sharing! Happy weekend!

Oh my gosh, have you seen the Elivis movie?! You must watch!! I didn’t know much about his life prior to the movie and it was fantastic!!! My husband and I both loved it and have even watched multiple times. It gave new meaning to his music, for sure!
Mix and Match Mama says
Where would I watch this one?! I’ll watch!!
Jennifer C says
We watched on Netflix!

Thank you!!

I just purchased the Judy Bloom book for my future grandkids! Remember the radio segment” Does that make me crazy”?
I’ve been collecting books for my future grandkids since my kids were in high school. Does that make me crazy?? 🤪
Mix and Match Mama says
No! I love this so much!! I think that is such a great idea!!
