Hey hey Wednesday!
We’re home, the girls are back at school…and Smith still has the rest of the week off for his fall break. I keep asking him if he wants to hang out the whole time, and he just grins with those big dimples and smiles. Geez, I love that kid. He actually has football every day of his break (and a game tomorrow!), so he’s busy, tired and eating his way through fall break.
I hope you’re having a great week so far. You guys, it’s mid-October.
This season is FLYING by!
F-L-Y-I-N-G.
Here’s a little recap of the fall fun we’ve been having…
…we surprised Ashby and Madeley and picked them up from school early on Thursday to kick off their fall break with a trip to The State Fair of Texas!
If you’ve been around here a while, you know that the Fair is a big deal for us in the DFW area and a really big deal in our family. For a variety of reasons though, we haven’t been able to make it over the last few years, so we were extra pumped to go on this day. I didn’t think the big kids would mind, so I asked them if we could surprise the littles and they were fine with it. We surprised them and headed off on…what I do think might have been the warmest day we’ve ever been to the Fair. Agh! The fall weather has been scarce this season down here. It was warm, but boy did we have fun 🙂 .
The girls wanted to focus on rides, games and food…so we did just that…
…happy girls…
…enjoying every minute of the fun!
They got the hang of winning prizes, and we left with a haul!
Geez, I love them.
He can’t bend, lift or twist, but thankfully, he can still reach 😉 .
Do you see them inside? It’s like the teacup ride at Disney World. They loved it!
Please note the giant plastic bag of items won at the Fair at their feet…and please note that upon eating this ENTIRE thing, Ashby Shull got on a ride that went super fast AND spun in circles without getting the least bit nauseous. She’s my hero. I got nauseous watching her. Bahaha!
We love The State Fair of Texas!
And we really love these two girls 🙂 .
Side note, my friend Cassie told me one time to flip the I-phone upside when taking pictures like this because you get less ground and more sky. It kind of distorts their legs, but it is a fun trick to try!
The next day, the girls were off for Fall Break, so…
…I took these two to Southlake to have lunch on the patio at one of our favorite Mexican restaurants and do a little shopping…
…we had such a fun time!
The weather was BEAUTIFUL for lunch on the patio…
…and then they had vending machine Sprinkles cupcakes for dessert.
Two fun fall days with my two littlest loves! I’m trying to soak all of this up because I know I’m moments, MOMENTS, away from them being busy teens too.
Alrighty, I hope you all have the BEST day!! I’ll see you tomorrow! xx

Our fall break starts today, and the temperature finally dropped so low last night that we had to turn on the heat! Here’s to hoping the cooler weather is headed to TX!

What a fun few days for you all! I love fairs and carnivals so much. Growing up, in the summer, there was always a carnival for one week at the big parking lot at our church and it was 2 blocks away from our house. We would walk there, have tons of fun, and then get zeppolis and eat them on the walk home.

We’re headed to the fair today! Finally the weather is beautiful today!! Our 3 year olds first time going to the fair! I got emotional reading your post today thinking before I know it, our daughter is going to be a teen too and busy with all the things! Trying to soak it all in! Happy beautiful fall day!

We had to miss the Fair again this year, hopefully next year! My youngest tries to indulge me but has a hard time doing it. Hahaha. The teenager is well, a teenager, and she can’t be bothered much. 🙁 Today is wonderful weather. I hope it sticks around because I am in need of some real Fall experiences!
