Hey, hey Thursday!
I will be here blogging tomorrow, but I’m rounding up my favorite things for the week today.
It’s a little THURSDAY THINGS post 🙂 .
Smith’s school has a five day weekend and all three girls will get a three day weekend starting tomorrow, so basically…if you’re looking for me, I’m here enjoying my kiddos. (And I’m also using these days off to do productive things like taking them to the optometrist and dentist. #momlife)
Here’s wishing you a HAPPY Thursday!
(By the way, your comments from yesterday’s post on HAPPINESS could not have made me HAPPIER!)
When I look back through my camera roll this week, spending time with Miss Madeley was a favorite thing. While my other three (almost all teenagers now!) were busy with friends and doing all sorts of fun things sans-mom, this kid is still all about hanging out with me. I am soaking up every single minute of having one last kiddo who has all the time in the world for her mama. I’m going to blink, and she’ll be a teenager too.
On Friday night, Andrew and I took Madeley and a friend to downtown McKinney for the annual Arts In Bloom Festival. My top is HERE.
They both visited the face painting booth…and as you can see, opted for the subtle artwork.
This kid. Ha!
The next day after Ashby’s soccer game, I said “I’m going to Home Depot” and only one Shull said they wanted to go with me…
…it was a GORGEOUS Saturday in McKinney to get herbs and veggies for our little garden.
On Monday afternoon, Madeley’s school had their annual Easter egg hunt at the park and after it was over, we stayed so she could play with her friends…
…in the water.
For my firstborn, I would have brought a bag with a towel and an extra set of dry clothes along with a plastic bag for the wet clothes.
For the fourth kid, I said she could dry off with a sweatshirt I found in the back of the car and change when she got home. Ha!
And then yesterday…
…I volunteered as “snack mom” which means I sold the snacks during lunch/snack time to any students that wanted to buy something.
This time is extra extra special now that I really see how fast it goes by.
Always a favorite thing of mine and always on repeat at my house is…
…this GAUZE BUTTON UP TOP. I’ve had mine for several years and still adore them. They wash and dry so easily, they don’t wrinkle, they travel well, the color doesn’t fade, you can layer them…they’re just perfect.
This week…
…I wore my BLACK ONE with my TENNIS SKIRT and NIKES and was off for the day. Easy as that!
THESE TOPS come in a variety of colors, and I just bought another one in “seaport blue” too 🙂 .
Speaking of things I’ve been wearing…
‘Tis shorts season and these…
…VUORI SHORTS are in my very favorite color 🙂 . Not one but TWO different neighbors stopped me on Saturday morning while I was out walking my dogs to ask me where I purchased them. The color is good, y’all (but they do come in other colors too!). My top is HERE!
On Saturday night, we had a house full of kids, so after a morning soccer game, trip to Home Depot, yard work and a dip in the pool, I showered and changed…
…and put on THESE VUORI SHORTS for a Saturday night of grilling out and hosting a bunch of kiddos.
For a size reference, I bought both in xs. So cute!
On Monday afternoon, Mades and I ran into Target to grab a few things when I saw…
…you guys, that green grabbed me!
I wore this on Tuesday…
…the SHORTS ARE ONLY $15! What a deal?! Now, they’re not lined and they don’t have zippers or pockets, but the color options are great and the price is even better.
The TANK is also only $15 and comes in corresponding colors too!
I love the detail on the SHORTS!
I think my favorite part though might be the SUPER CUTE SPORTS BRA! It’s only $12 🙂 .
And because we’re talking shorts…
…I wore my WHITE SHORTS again yesterday with THIS CUTE TOP and MY SANDALS.
I love shorts season the most!!
Just yesterday, this new episode of one of my VERY FAVORITE podcasts dropped…
…and it combined two things I love! The Simple Sophisticate married her normal “living every day well” with “health and wellness”.
I was in podcast listener heaven.
If you haven’t listened to this latest episode, you should! You should listen to all of her episodes.
And should you need something easy and delish to make this weekend…
…it’s my annual round up of EGG-CELLENT EASTER TREATS!
That’s my round up of Thursday Things.
I hope you all have a wonderful, wonderful day! I will see you back here tomorrow! xx

Can you please link the beige/navy button up sweater you are wearing in the first photo? So cute!
Mix and Match Mama says
Of course! I’ll do it now in the post, but here it is too: https://bit.ly/3RRN7bx

Thank you!

The differences in parenting the first and the fourth child are really startling! Our oldest (a college senior) will sometimes joke the youngest (high school junior) on her Instagram posts.
“Who gave you permission to go there”?
“That dress is a little short”. (it’s not)
“Where are your parents? Do I need to come home and bring you up?”
It is very cute and we all love it, but it is comical to see the difference in the first and fourth. We often point out that he and our other two daughters were in high school during the pandemic which drastically changed their high school experience.
Kit says
Hey Shay, can you share what vegetables and herbs you are planting this year?
Mix and Match Mama says
This year, we did strawberries, tomatoes, basil, cilantro, and lemons.
LG says
Are you wearing the vuori shorts in 4” or 2.5” inseam?
Mix and Match Mama says
4″!
Lizzie says
Ohh I am totally buying that gauze top and those running shorts for summer. I love both! Serious question though- how often do you go through your closet and donate/get rid of old clothing items? I feel like I hang onto so much old stuff and cant seem to part ways! ugh!
Mix and Match Mama says
The answer is all the time. At least once a month, I do an edit and donate. Happy Easter!
Kay says
That’s too funny, I just listened to this podcast on my walk this morning! Do you ever listen to Mel Robbins? (She mentions Mel’s podcast in this episode). If not, I think you might really like some of her podcasts.
Happy Easter weekend to you and your family!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have! I really like her podcast too. I first heard about her when she was being interviewed on one of the other podcasts I listen to.
Erika Slaughter says
I LOVE those green Vuori shorts! Ordering myself some now!
Molly B says
Hey! I was eyeing those Vuori off white shorts (the villa textured I believe?). I’m 5’2 and 108 pounds – wondering if you think the XS would be too big? Sadly all the xxs are gone. I love the look with the matching tank!
Mix and Match Mama says
They’re high rise, so they might be. They might feel a little too big all over on you.
Danielle says
Happy Easter! Can you link your bright yellow phone case? It’s my favorite color and I’ve been looking for one!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! This is the one I always use. Their super inexpensive and my phone never breaks when I drop it (approximately 500 times a day, sigh). https://shopstyle.it/l/cphbG
