Happy Friday, friends!
Well it’s certainly been a busy few days for us. This time last week, we were on Nantucket enjoying summer and now, we’re already in “school mode”. Needless to say, my favorite things this week are reflective of the variety that has been this week 🙂 .
You know the drill, just like every week, I’m linking up with my friends Andrea and Erika and sharing my very favorite things (seriously, A BIG variety!) from this week.
Enjoy! xx

On Monday, I shared that our sweet Ashby…

…read over 20 books this summer! I received so many requests for a list of books she loved. I don’t have all of them, but I was able to get her to give me a few.
For those of you curious, here you go…
THE COMPLETE SUMMER I TURNED PRETTY TRILOGY
THE POWERLESS & RECKLESS COLLECTION
Okay and speaking of books…

…this week, I watched the new Netflix movie…

…based on my VERY FAVORITE BOOK OF 2018!
You guys, I LOVED My Oxford Year and ranked it first among some other really fantastic books in 2018.
If you haven’t read the book, READ IT BEFORE YOU WATCH THE MOVIE. I really liked the movie, but it wasn’t nearly as good as the book. In my opinion, the movie only gives you about 50% of what the novel provides. I am so happy I watched it, but I’m really happy I read the book first. If you haven’t read the book, do so now. It’s the perfect back to school read!

In case you missed it…

…these were the TOP 10 ITEMS YOU LADIES LOVED IN JULY! A very eclectic mix last month!
#1: THESE “DUPE” LEGGINGS are as buttery soft and amazing as the originals. They wash and dry well too and come in a variety of colors!
#2: THE SUNRISE ALARM CLOCK was a big hit after I shared my review! It’s crazy cool!
#3: MY FAVORITE SPORTS BRA is always always a favorite around here. I haven’t found one I like better!
#4: MY TENNIS SKIRT is on repeat! I now have it in three different colors and wore it twice this week alone!
#5: MY WORKOUT TANK comes in so many great colors! I bought it in blue!
#6: BIKER SHORTS for the win in July!
#7: THIS MINERAL SUNSCREEN is now my #1 favorite! I wear it every single day.
#8: MY WATER RESISTANT BOOTIES will have us all ready for fall!
#9: MY NIKES in my favorite color have been a super cute (and comfy!) addition to my wardrobe this summer.
#10: JEANS are always a good idea heading into next season. I love the length, the leg and the stretch in this pair.

Last week before we left Nantucket, we rented a boat for the day. I just cannot get Smith Shull off the water. This kid would be on a boat fishing every single day of his life. He was really excited about this day and when we were disembarking, he said it was his favorite day of the summer. My mama heart was very full (and my mama stomach a little nauseous…it was a rough day at sea!).
Here are a few pics…

…since it was just us on the boat, Andrew was captain. We pulled out of the marina on this chilly and gray day. I sang the theme song from Gilligan’s Island pretty much the entire afternoon.
We took off out in the harbor to do some fishing…

…and the fishing was PLENTIFUL! Smith was living his best life…

…while the rest of us froze and tried not to throw up, Smith taught Ashby how to fish 🙂 . After our day was over, we had an ice chest full of scup that Smith went home and spent two hours cleaning and “dealing with” before he air fried them all up. We had a fish feast! It was a really sweet day.
Speaking of Nantucket…

…at the Saturday farmer’s market a few weeks ago, Andrew and I bought a few new pieces of art. They arrived framed the day before we left, so he hung them and I snapped a few pics of our new finds…

We bought these two photographs from Willy LeMay…

…they make me very happy!
We also bought these two…

…from Salty Blooms Studio…

They make me so happy too 🙂 .

I’m back in Texas trying to stay cool. The very last thing that’s good for my mental health is to do this…

…but I have little self-control, so I do it anyway. Sigh.
What have I been wearing this week to ward off the heat?
Here you go…

Athleta is always a good idea! I paired MY FAVORITE SPORTS BRA with MY WHITE SHORTS and TANK!

Super cute!
I also wore…

…both my TENNIS SKIRT and my NIKES.
One day, I kept it really comfy…

…with this TWO PIECE SET!

THIS SET comes in several other color combos. I love the waffle weave!

I also kept it simple with a tank and THESE FRENCH TERRY SHORTS. They also come in so many colors and are so so comfy!

And finally…

It wouldn’t be Back to School Season without my BEST BACK TO SCHOOL PEANUT BUTTER RECIPES!

I have 17 EASY AND DELICIOUS BACK TO SCHOOL PEANUT BUTTER RECIPES just in time for those after school snacks and lunchbox desserts.
These have been on repeat in my kitchen this week 🙂 .
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I look forward to seeing you all back here on Monday. In the meantime, HAVE THE BEST FRIDAY! xx

Once the ocean grabs hold of your soul, it will never let go. So happy Smith found the place he could be forever by being out on the water. I wonder if he will choose a New England college with how much he loves it and especially with his competing in rowing. Love that Ashby is right in there learning from him. They have such a special bond
K.K. says

I loved the book My Oxford Year so much and wanted to love the movie too, but the movie fell short . I didn’t hate the movie, but I’ve told everyone to read the book before seeing the movie ! Great wrap up of your week!
Katrina Goodman says
I love a boat day! I like your new photographs!! Have a great weekend!
Christine says
I like your new photographs. There are so many great artists on the Cape and the Islands. Anywhere from glassblowing to photography. Look up http://www.flyingpangallery.com The artist has stainless steel schools of fish you might like for your wall. I recently saw a display and fell in love with it.
hammondzoo says
I also read My Oxford Year, and I feel like the movie did not do the book justice. The book is so much better. Also, before the Netflix version came out, I stumbled across Surprised by Oxford on Amazon Prime. Somewhat similar theme, and so much better than the Netflix version. It is a must-watch.
Life As Kim says
Well done to Ashby with all of the reading and I think I need to add My Oxford Year to my to watch list.
It sounds like a lot of fun on the boat and looks like Smith had a great time!
That artwork is just beautiful!
Arika says
I love that you are so international about supporting local artists! Glad your family had a special summer.
WhittyWife (Lindsay) says
Thank you for the dose of happy today. We had to say goodbye to Piper, one of our pups yesterday (it was a sudden illness), and my heart is pretty heavy. ❤️
I also think I mentioned this before, but my hubby is a project manager at Hinckley Yachts and works with multiple Nantucket clients. I spot many Hinckleys in your posts, and I know how much your family loves boats. 😊 My husband would be happy to give you guys a Hinckley tour anytime (maybe a guys trip for Andrew and Smith?!). He loves showing off the product! It’s a quick plane trip on Cape Air to Maine. You have my email here. Please reach out if you’re ever interested!
Mix and Match Mama says
Oh I am so so sorry, Lindsay! I am just so sorry. What a VERY generous offer! How cool that is is around all of those amazing vessels! You are too too kind. xx
Noah says
Am I the only one who saw something in the water in the first picture of fishing?! Was that a shark?!
Okay, I did read the rest and I’m 100% adding that movie to my list of things to watch. But really… was that a shark?!
Mix and Match Mama says
It was not a shark! They’re out there, but that wasn’t one at that moment 🙂 .
Andrea says
Apparently moms never stop momming, even with other people’s kids…just wondering how Ashby’s first day went at her new school? As someone that battles their own health issues, I have such a soft spot for your sweet girl!
Mix and Match Mama says
Awwwww! THANK YOU! Truly, your comment means the world to me. Thank you! She had a great first two days of school. She is excited about this week!
karen says
Heading to Nantucket in September and can’t wait!! We all live in Central Florida so definitely looking forward to the cooler temps! The photograph art is beautiful!!
Mix and Match Mama says
You are going to have the BEST time!!!
Katie says
Do you have any tips for keeping white shoes white? Yours always look brand new!
Mix and Match Mama says
Well if you saw them in person, you might disagree…BUT when our shoes get icky and I clean them off, I use a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser. 🙂
Madeline says
I watched My Oxford Year (I hadn’t read the book) and oh my gosh I was not expecting that!! I thought it was going to be a light chic flick and that was not what happened! It was still good none the less, and now I got the book to read since you said it is much better. I just had to come back to this post because I was SHOCKED at that plot twist!
Mix and Match Mama says
Read the book! Read the book! I know you “know” now, but I still think you’ll LOVE the book extra!
