Happy Tuesday, friends!
Last week, I shared that I’m leaning into hibernating this winter, so today, I thought I’d share a few little cozy winter touches around my home with you should you be hibernating at home too.
Because as much joy as this brings me…

…the older I get, the more I really enjoy this too…

Here are just a few ways I’m creating my cozy winter home…

#1: I am burning my favorite “wintery” scents…

I love pine scented candles for the holiday season, but I think I enjoy them even more in January.
Right now, I’m burning anything that smells like a bonfire (I love a smoky scent too!) or a pine tree.

#2: I have throws all over my house to be used (not just to be pretty!)…

Give me all the cozy blankets (and fireplaces!) this time of year!

My friend Lori gifted all of us THESE FAUX-FUR BLANKETS at our annual recipe exchange, and it’s become my favorite desk friend! It’s so heavy that it feels weighted. It’s absolutely amazing!

#3: I am displaying all of my cozy (and seasonal!) books…

#4: I added my favorite tealights…

…you guys, they’re battery operated! I think I picked these up at Hobby Lobby or Target. I bought a big bag last year and absolutely LOVE how easy they are to use.

#5: I swapped out my hand towels and soaps in the bathrooms…

Easy little swaps!

#6: I changed the background on my Frame TV (and my iPhone!) to something wintery.

#7: I made sure my reading areas are cozy…

This season, I even added…

…do you see it?!

It’s my new COFFEE MUG WARMER! You guys, I’m in love.

I love drinking out of an actual mug first thing in the morning, but by the time I’m done with my Bible study and reading, an hour has passed and my coffee is always cold. This warmer is LEGIT! I am now sipping hot coffee all morning long. Total (coffee!) game changer for me!

#8: As you know already, the six Shulls sleep in FLANNEL SHEETS allll year long, but as I was washing all of the guest bedding this weekend and refreshing it for the next guest, I swapped out the sheets and added an extra layer plus the flannel sheets to this bed too…

All done 🙂 .

#9: You know I love my little SPACE HEATERS! I put one in my bathroom…

…and in my office 🙂 .

#10: I swapped out a few red and green holiday details in my kitchen for more “January-ish” ones. Like my spatulas and…

…my placemats on the table.
Of course, it wouldn’t be winter around my house without…

…French Cooking Music Radio on Pandora constantly in the background and…

…dogs snuggled in everywhere. Here are Poppy and Charlie…

…and Frenchie and Yankee 🙂 .
Those are some of my COZY WINTER HOME details. I would LOVE to hear what you do to make your home cozy this time of year!
Before we part today, make sure you check out OUR ARRIVAL IN POLAND on my travel post today too. You guys, IT’S SO FESTIVE!!
Wishing you the coziest January day! xx

I love seeing all the cozy accents!
You have turned me into a candle burner. I always liked them, but let my economical streak override my enjoy life side. No more!
Thank you for always reminding us to go ahead and enjoy the day to day in whatever ways we can!!

I love candles, but I don’t love releasing synthetic fragrance into my house for my family to inhale. I got some of these for Christmas. Oh my goodness! They are so good. Beeswax and pure, nontoxic fragrance. My functional health doc recommended them. And they are so cute! I’m back to loving candles again!

Love a cozy winter home! One of my very favorite (year round) scents is Winter White. I first discovered it through Pura, but I can’t get those in Europe. I buy the candles and bring them back with me and they make me smile every time! It’s SO good.
Shannon says
I hate winter, but you are helping me appreciate it more and inspiring me to do some things to enjoy this season. 🥰

I lode your home, we have similar taste for sure! Do you know where I could find a similar mirror to the one in your entry way? I need a statement mirror for the wall & can’t find one I like! Thanks so much!
Mix and Match Mama says
Thank you so much! That mirror was purchased about 14 years ago, so it’s not recent. Thank you though! I love it too 🙂 .

Thank you for the cozy house tour. I add twinkle lights to my bar cart. I also love small lamps and lots of candles this time of year. I have no need for a coffee warmer. I drink it too fast to get cold 😆
Mix and Match Mama says
Great addition to your bar cart!!

I added the mug warmer to my Amazon list!

I love a bonfire scent candle too. Do you have one you can recommend? I had one I loved and I cannot find it anymore.

I’m a huge fan of hibernating in the winter! And all the coziness that brings 🙂 My kids and I love to make paper snowflakes and hang them dangling in the windows. It makes the house feel not so bare after the Christmas decor is gone and I love the children’s homemade touch. It’s heartwarming ❄️
Mix and Match Mama says
I LOVE that you hang paper snowflakes. Details like that make a house a HOME.
Coryelle Higdon says
Do you have the link for that waffle weave bedding on your guest bed?

I LOVE the battery tea lights! Mine all have timers. So at 4:00 when I get them going each winter I run around like a mad lady turning them on. Our housesitter loves it when she’s at our house and the twinkle glow appears every night. They turn off 6 hours later! French music and Seriously Sinatra are my jam. Paris is my fav, I have been 5 times! I always make it our final 1-2 nights before we fly home(Air France direct to Colorado is the best) from Europe every time if possible!
Mix and Match Mama says
You and I are soul sisters 🙂 .
Laci says

Kate says
I love a cozy blanket! I too have them everywhere! I think the dog appreciates them too!

This is my MOST favorite type of post-thanks for sharing your amazingly cozy home with us. I dread winter and all your recommendations (Evergreen book, hibernating, little decorating tips) are definitely cheering me up.
Mary says
Being from the Buffalo, New York makes you focus on cozy and warm. Seconding the comment re: making more soups. I try and make one homemade soup a week. Beside flannel sheets I have also gotten into flannel shirts w/some sort of layering t-shirt underneath. I knit but spend more time working on larger pieces like afghans in the winter. They keep me warm while I work on them. Lastly our family spends more time playing board games in the winter since we’re inside more.

The dead animal heads makes me
So very sad. In the year 2026, mounted animals are heartbreaking. There is no prize in killing and animal with a gun. There is no competition. These poor animals are just destroyed because some man thinks it is fun. You said it was a faux fur blanket- meanwhile you have a dead moose on the wall. You really need to step into 2026.
Mix and Match Mama says
They were all harvested with archery. All of the meat from all of the animals were given to those in need (the three in the family room were donated to a kitchen and school that my husband and his friends spent three years funding and actually building in South Africa)…so perhaps they’re not entirely bad 🙂 .

Love this reply. ❤️
