Guest Bath Re-Do!


Happy Monday!!

I’m so excited because I FINALLY have a room finished in my house after that nasty flood.  One down, a few more to go.

On June 19, the first floor of our house flooded, and it’s really turned our home (and lives!) upside down. I’ve blogged some updates a few times, but you can read Andrew’s Flood Q&A post HERE to better understand the situation.

I bought this plate in Germany years and years ago…it says “guest bath”.

We have a little half-bath tucked away on our first floor that shares a wall with our master closet (which had to be gutted), so that lead to this little bath having to get a face-lift too (since they share a wall and water was running down that wall) and many of our light fixtures had to be replaced due to the flood (water was coming in from above down into the fixtures), so this one was replaced as well.

I didn’t know prior to about 8:00 PM on June 19th that I would need a “before” pic of my powder bath because I didn’t know what was about to hit us…so, I don’t have a great picture to show you as comparison.  I did find this one…

…so you can at least see the other paper.  I love a fun wallpaper in small spaces.  So, this time, I thought I’d go even MORE FUN…

…EEEEEEEKS!  It’s so loud and obnoxious and I just love it so much!!!  Ha!

I’m so in love with this crazy loud wallpaper 🙂 .

 

The travertine floors survived and so did the vanity since it’s not on the wall with the closet.

 

 

 

I was so excited to have a clean and finished room that I contemplated sleeping in there.

 

The paper is Cole & Son and the light fixture is from Restoration Hardware.

That’s it for today.  I just wanted you to all see that there was light at the end of this tunnel.  Bold, bright, obnoxiously birdy light 😉 .

    I love it! I got really into wallpaper several years ago and would sit and just pore over all of them drinking a free tea that they would give customers. We ended up adding it to several of our closets which kept the cost down and it became more like an “accessory.” Those bird ones were always calling my name, but I was never brave enough to do it. Yours looks great!!

    I just love the little lamp in the bathroom. Where do you find these gorgeous lamps? And you are very brave with the wallpaper and guest towels… they look great! I would freak that they don’t match, but they do!

    Love, Love, Love your bathroom. Love the wall paper. I love how the birds in wall paper reflect off the mirror. Love the gold lamp and chandelier. I have all my pictures framed in gold frames–I love Monet and Renoir paintings and go to the Kimball when they have their exhibits. I have prints of Monet all over my apartment.

    I sold my house about 3 years ago and had to redo everything–so much fun, but work going all over the place to furniture stores, online, etc. I was looking for an olive leather recliner–couldn’t find it–and finally googled it–and found one–but I learned from all the running around you have to sit in it to make sure it is comfortable and fits you.

    Bless your heart, you have been through so much, but God always has blessings among the trials. Keep on keeping on.

    It’s absolutely beautiful. So many spaces and peoples’ homes look alike now, with similar decor and it’s refreshing to see some personality in a space. I love when a home just feels like it fits the owner, in this case beautiful, bright and warm 🙂

    I love the cache toilet seat. Quick release and slow close is where it’s at. I wish they had those when my boys were little!!!!

      I pick them up at a lot of different places (the grocery store, Home Goods, little boutiques, etc but Amazon sells them too!).

    I think a half bath is the perfect place to go a little crazy. My half bath is pink with a llama print and some funny bathroom signs. Totally out of style for the rest of my house but one of my favorite rooms.

    I love the wallpaper…it is so bright and welcoming and the bathroom itself is just beautiful. How exciting to see one full room finished and complete. Cant wait to see the rest as they get done. This is the time when the frown of the flooding event turns upside down to a smile that one by one you are getting your home back

    Your bathroom is beautiful and so cheerful! So happy for you to have a room done. Isn’t that foam soap the best? I can’t go into TJ Maxx or Marshals without seeing if they have any. My mom loves them too so between the both of us we are stocked for a couple of months.

    Shay the powder room is fabulous! Thank you for using color!!! I am not one for the Farmhouse trend. It is great for some, I just need color in my world….ha. We had a flood in December to our downstairs, then Covid, so we are just getting around to getting things in place to have renovations started. But what a process and lo and behold our A/C leaked in our upstairs unit Friday night through the ceiling and down the walls so we have fans and dehumidifiers blasting. As I was about to lose my mind, I thought about what all you have been through and how you have handled it with such grace. I took a deep breath and thought “Be like Shay!” Excited to the rest of your progress. Thank you for being an encouragement to me. ?

      We ordered it from a wallpaper company in Dallas that carried the Cole & Son brand. First I found the paper, then we found the manufacturer and then told us who sold it locally.

    SO fun! That it’s done, and how it turned out! I’m always curious…when you built and now re-building…does your mom help with the design plan/decorating, do you use a designer, or do you pick all your own stuff?? Just simply a fun curious question!

      If I ever need help, it’s always my mama who I turn to! She’s retired now, but always so sweet to help me. For instance, I found this wallpaper on Pinterest, and she figured out who made it and got it ordered for me.
