Happy Thursday, friends!
It’s a 10 RANDOM THINGS: FEBRUARY EDITION!
Speaking of random, I saw this and it made me legit laugh out loud…

…I’ve said this a million times before, but Pinterest is without a doubt my favorite social media platform.
It’s just so HAPPY.
You can check out all MY PIN-ING HERE!
Okay, you know the drill, I am sharing 10 RANDOM THINGS about random things 🙂 .
Let’s go…
10 RANDOM THINGS ABOUT:
10 Random Things I’ll Miss About Winter :

1: SHORTER DAYS
Call me crazy, but I like the shorter days. Do I want them year around? No, but I really enjoy them in the winter. I love being home at night and eating dinner when it’s dark outside. I also love that when I’m coming home from yoga or out walking my dogs, I get to see the sunrise. It’s just harder to be “cozy” with full sun 😉 .
Speaking of which…
2: EVERYTHING JUST OOZES COZY
The house looks cozier. Mornings are cozier. Dinnertime is cozier. The couch feels cozier. Everything is cozier in the winter. It’s cozy’s main season.
3: FEWER COMMITMENTS
Our schedule is the most calm in the winter. We are all six home almost every night together which means more time for family dinners, more time for watching TV together, more time just to be. After the full fall season and the holidays, it’s so nice to recharge over the winter.

4: HAVING THE FIREPLACE ON
I love having my fireplaces on. Love it.
5: BEING BUNDLED
My preferred uniform is always going to be shorts and a tank top…BUT I do love all the layers we get during the winter. Boots and gloves and jackets and sweaters and all of that makes me happy too.
6: COFFEE TASTES BETTER
Coffee tastes good to me 365 days a year, but it tastes EXTRA good when it’s cold outside.
7: GOING TO BED EARLY
I don’t know about you, but it’s really hard for me to go to sleep when it’s light out. The other night, I was asleep in my bed at 8:11…and it was GLORIOUS. During the summer, I’m still eating dinner at 8:11, ha!

8: SNOW
I know some of you are TOTALLY OVER THE SNOW, and I get that completely (I get TOTALLY OVER THE HEAT), but there is something magical about snowy winter weather.
9: IT’S THE BEST TIME TO READ
I love to read on the beach/by the pool, but my very favorite time of year to read is on cold nights when it’s dark outside and the fireplace is going.
10: I’M NOT SWEATING
I feel like this needs no explanation 😉 .
10 Random Things I Keep in My Coat Closet:
Come on inside, friends!

1: THREE TYPES OF SHOES
I keep my Nikes (which is what I use for running/walking/working out), my Skechers (for slipping on quickly to walk dogs, head to the mailbox, work in the yard, etc), and my OG tall Ugg boots for cold days.

2: MY OLD RING LIGHT
I’m pretty sure I bought this during COVID when everyone else was also buying ring lights. I don’t think I’ve used it in five years. I should probably re-home it…but for now, it’s in my coat closet.

I just leave it right there on the floor of the coat closet so that I can grab it on my way out the door.

4: COATS
I do actually keep coats in the coat closet too 😉 . I have several different “weights” of coats to put on depending on the weather. From light to heavy, I just keep them there and put one on each morning to walk the dogs.

5: A BELT BAG
I keep a belt bag in the closet and use that each day too for my walks. I can put my phone inside, little bags to pick up after the dogs, etc. I just keep it right there and slip it on as I leave.

6: OUR WHA-HOO BOARD
I grew up playing the marble game Wha-Hoo, and my family loves to play it too. It’s basically like playing Trouble. The board is pretty big, so we keep it in the coat closet.

And then for #s: 7, 8, 9, and 10
A hat for cold days, gloves for cold days, my arm band for when I run (to carry my phone), and a visor
10 Reasons I Love MIX AND MATCH TRAVEL AGENCY Transfers:
If you’re unfamiliar, a transfer is when a car service takes you from A to B…and it’s randomly always one of our clients’ favorite things (mine too!). We include them with every vacation!

1: NO WAITING AROUND, THEY’RE ON TIME
You land at the airport and standing there by baggage claim is your friendly driver ready to whisk you off. Or you’re heading out on an excursion and when you walk down to the hotel lobby, they’re ready and waiting to get your epic adventure started. They’re on time and ready to make your day fabulous!
2: THE VEHICLES ARE ALWAYS SO NICE (AND THE DRIVERS TOO!)
We’ve all probably gotten into cabs or Ubers that have smelled bad, been dirty or even just gross inside. Not these vehicles. They’re new, clean and oh so nice. And the drivers are always nice too!
3: THEY PROVIDE CAR SEATS AND BOOSTERS
If you’re traveling and need a car seat or booster, they’ll have them installed and ready to go (and the ones that fit your kiddos’ sizes) when they pick you up.

4: THE DRIVERS ARE KNOWLEDGEABLE
These drivers live wherever you’re visiting. They know all the best spots and LOVE to share this information. They know details and specifics only locals would ever know. They want you to love their city too, so they’ll tell you all the wonderful places to eat/shop/see and things to do.
5: IT MAKES THE DRIVE FLEXIBLE
If you’re up early and your transfer is taking you from the hotel to your excursion location, they are flexible. They can stop for coffee. They can swing by and stop for you to eat. These drivers are flexible with their schedules so that you are truly doing exactly what you want to be doing.
6: THEY DO THE HEAVY LIFTING
Literally. They’ll carry your luggage and bags. They lift so you don’t have to (which is amazing especially for our senior travelers).
7: THEY’RE PAID IN ADVANCE
These amazing drivers are paid before you leave so you don’t have to worry about paying them in person in their currency. You just get to enjoy their service.
8: THEY COME IN A LOT OF DIFFERENT SIZES
Traveling with two? We have a car for you. Traveling with 20? We have a bigger car for you. No matter how many are in your party, we have transfers for your whole group.

9: THEY’RE LOCALS
One of the BEST parts about traveling is supporting the locals who live in these destinations and rely on tourism for their economy. You’re supporting the locals who are providing for their families.
10: IT JUST MAKES YOU FEEL SPECIAL
Let’s be real, it’s just special to walk off a plane and have a car waiting for you. My dad (the least fancy guy I know) jokes all the time that my transfers always make him feel fancy. He loves that! Going on vacation should make you feel special…every detail.
10 Random Household Items I Love

How did I ever live without it?

I have been talking about these little water detection sensors now for over five years. THEY WILL SAVE YOUR HOUSE! They’ve detected water at my house and certainly saved mine. Over the years, I’ve had SO MANY of you say the same thing. See how tiny it is back there? Just stick one by anything that could leak (toilets, sink, washing machine) and get texts alerts the second it feels even the smallest drop of water.

3: SPACE HEATER
I wish I had one in every single room.

4: MY ECHO SHOW
Am I the only one who talks to theirs all day? I’m always asking the weather, a random question, to play music, etc. My parents finally got one right before Christmas, and I swear it changed their lives.

5: MY PURA
I can’t quit ’em. I have them in several bathrooms, the closet, my office…they’re subtle and yet so effective.

This little tiny frother is used way more than I ever thought it would be. My kids froth milk for lattes, I froth together matcha or when I add in something (like creatine, etc) to my coffee. I saw Mades frothing Crystal Light into her water the other day.

7: MY CORDLESS LAMP
I bought this at Hobby Lobby, and just love it. I wanted a little lamp on my desk, but I didn’t want cords. This is cordless and wonderful.

These little sensors were so easy to install and with them, I can use the app on my phone to open my gate and garage doors ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD. I don’t know about you, but there are so many times when I need to remotely open my garage doors (my kids have locked me out, my kids need in and I’m not home, maybe someone is bringing something over and they want to stick it in my garage instead of the porch…etc). We use this app all the time. It’s so easy! Plus, you can open the app and see whether your garage door is currently open or closed. Should you drive off and not remember if you closed it or not, the app tells you. It also tells you anytime someone opens it or closes it, so you can always see who has come and gone. Brilliant.

I will not get into the gross details with you…but three out of the four dogs got a stomach bug over the weekend, and I’m not exaggerating when I say that if it hadn’t have been for this little machine ONCE AGAIN coming to the rescue, I would have had to toss two big rugs. I can’t imagine not having this thing.

10: FLY FANS
We bought these to put on the table when we’re eating dinner outside. They reallllly do work, friends!

Set them on your table during dinner and flies will stay away 🙂 .
Gail says
do you think these would work to keep yellow jackets away?

I love the coziness of winter, too! I’m a hot coffee drinker year round, but it’s much nicer to drink it in the winter vs our 95 degree summer days haha!!

Amanda Wilson says
My Girl!!!!!!!!
Forrest Gump!!!!!!!!
Really?!?!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yeah, they’re not “bad”, they’re just a little overrated…in my opinion 😉 .
Susan P Fitzpatrick says
Ordering water sensors today! We had a leaky water heater and thankfully we caught it early before there was alot of water damage. 😬 Household items I cannot live without include my cordless leaf blower, Keurig, Amazon Jellypig cordless vacuum and my Shark version of the the Bissell Little Green Machine. I can’t say Jellypig without laughing but that stick vacuum is so much better than my Dyson!!
Mix and Match Mama says
Why didn’t I say my Dyson cordless vacuum?! DUH! I use that thing 5 times a day!
Becky says
I am 100% with you on the movies – I do not care for any of those movies either!
Mix and Match Mama says
I feel very seen right now.
Lorraine says
Totally agree!! With all 10!
Kay says
Love this post-so fun! Can I just ask, WHY do dogs beeline for carpet when they are sick? My whole house is like 95% hardwood. I have a rug in the family room and one in the living room. Let’s guess where they exclusively get sick?
Mix and Match Mama says
WHY? WHY? WHY? Andrew and I have asked ourselves that same question over and over again.
MelanieL says
Shay, not Dances with Wolves!!! 🙂 Also, one of the best items you’ve shared is the silicone mat/holder for hot tools, I do not know how I lived without it, thank you! This comment is the mix & match of good and bad, lol!
Mix and Match Mama says
My mom LOVES that movie. Eh, it’s okay. 😉 And isn’t that mat fabulous?! How did we live without it?!
Irene Kelly says
So using a travel agency (esp yours) for every trip you make is the best way to go to arrange drivers ? Do you offer that service?
Mix and Match Mama says
We offer it with every single vacation 🙂 .
Sara says
Our family has a marble board similar to yours, but we call the game Murder! It’s literally our only family traditions. My sister keeps our heirloom board at her house so my dad (who loved to tinker in a woodshop) made one to keep at his house. We lost him in 24 and it is now one of my most precious inherited items!
Pau says
I couldn’t agree more with the movies! Throw in Cast Away and that pretty much sums them all up!
Carla says
My family makes fun of me for how much I despise that movie!
K.K. says
Love these type of posts!! I’m with you on all things cozy!! When you got to the classics, I can be with you all except It’s a Wonderful Life. I cry every time at how the town comes together for one man in need. 🙂 🙂
But other than that, I am all on board here!
Beth Valenta says
Love these little random lists! I completely agree on those movies. I can’t wait for some warm/long days. Snow again here in VA Monday…UGG.
Elizabeth says
I cannot stand the thought of the Wizard of Oz! Your entire top 10 least favorite movies is so accurate 🤣
Mix and Match Mama says
I feel validated and seen right now. You are my people 🙂 .
Nicole Johannes says
What are your favorite Pura scents?
Mix and Match Mama says
Always seasonal! I’m not partial to any one scent, but they’re always seasonal. Right now, I have some citrus ones and some beachy ones in all of mine 🙂 .
Christina Spinella says
Not My Girl! I ugly cry every time I watch that movie!
Mix and Match Mama says
Because it’s torturous! I cry too!
Carol says
I was with you on EVERYTHING until you hit Forrest Gump! Whhhaattt!?!?
Mix and Match Mama says
I mean, it’s not bad. It’s just pretty darn slooooooow…
Brooke says
I booked a MMM trip and we raved about the transfer!
Mix and Match Mama says
YAY! Thank YOU for sharing!
Holly C says
These are one of my favorite posts!!! So many great things…
Karen in VA says
So happy that someone else did not think Forrest Gump was the best movie ever. I thought it was terrible. But, the worst movie of all time in my opinion is Groundhog Day. LOL.
Mix and Match Mama says
You had me until the last sentence…
Lauren says
You think Forrest Gump is overrated!? Otherwise, totally with you. ha!
