Happy Monday, friends!
You guys, it’s NOVEMBER!
How are we going to kick off November?ย By talking about the end of October ๐ .
I have a few Halloween weekend pics I thought I’d share this morning.
On Friday (Halloween Eve), the girls stayed in McKinney while the boys…

…flew back up to Boston and then drove the two hours up for a Game Day visit to Dartmouth.ย Since you seemed to enjoy last week’s GAME DAY {HARVARD} blog post, I thought I’d include a few pics they sent me of their time at Dartmouth too.

My two favorite guys loved their quick trip to visit this beautiful campus…

…they loved the facilities, the coaches, the players they connected with while they were there, and as you can imagine, they loved the weather too.

This was the Dartmouth v Harvard game, so it was extra lively and really fun to watch.

Dartmouth beat the undefeated Harvard team for a big WIN on this fall New Hampshire night.
The next morning, they drove back to Boston to fly home to McKinney.ย Because they know me so well, they texted me…

…several pics of the beautiful New England leaves…

…just gorgeous.
Meanwhile back in McKinney on Friday night…

…we were with my parents at the McKinney Boyd football game watching our favorite cheerleader!

It’s hard to believe that this football season is about to be finished.ย Boyd only has one more game left this season…

…I’m soaking it all up.
On Halloween morning, while the boys made their way back to Texas…

…we had a slow start at our house.ย I cuddled with Poppy and Yankee before…

…setting out on a walk with Mr. Charlie.
I spent the day doing laundry, changing out sheets (I started washing Halloween sheets and putting on Christmas ones!) before…

…it was time to make dinner.ย My family requested that this year, I make both queso and…

…SPOOKY SPAGHETTI.ย I made it earlier, and then just kept it warm in the slow cooker.
This year, Ashby and her bestie decided to stay in and pass out the candy.ย They spent all night toggling between watching Halloween movies and greeting people at the door (and eating our own candy).

Miss Mades was very excited to head out and trick or treat!

We LOVE Halloween night!ย This was the first Halloween in four years that Smith and Andrew have been home.ย Smith had a football game three years in a row, so it was SO NICE to have dinner as a family before the evening activities began.
Per tradition, Erika and Britt came over to hang out and trick or treat with us…

How cute are Bluey and Bingo?!
Andrew, Erika, and I walked the neighborhood while these two trick or treated…

At one point, one of my neighbors told me they had seen Kensington and Smith out trick or treating.ย I thought they totally had to be mistaken because when we left the house, both big kids were about to get in to their costumes for their own Halloween plans with friends.ย I didn’t think much about it until Kensington texted me this pic…

…and said that when she realized this was her last Halloween at home, she wanted to trick or treat one last time with Smith.ย He indulged her, and they walked to a few nearby neighbors’ houses who happily gave candy to my 18 and almost 17 year olds ๐ .ย Geez, I love these two.
We went around my whole neighborhood even stopping twice at two different friends’ homes to go inside and chat.ย I mentioned this last week, but I LOVE the community feel of this holiday.
We came home and cleaned up while Ashby and her friend gave out candy to the final trick or treaters and then per tradition, we flipped on Christmas music around the house as we got ready for bed.
As I was heading to the gym on Sunday morning…

…I had to agree with Andy, it is the MOST WONDERFUL TIME OF THE YEAR!
I love the ‘ber months!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend too!
Tomorrow, I am taking the day off from work to DECORATE MY HOUSE FOR CHRISTMAS!ย I will be back here with you on Wednesday.
Have a wonderful start to your week! xx

So much festive fun! I loved the time change landing on this weekend. It felt so indulgent to stay out later with the kids, not worried about bedtime, knowing we gained an hour. Happy Christmas decorating!

What a fun Halloween weekend and I loved reading about Kensington & Smith making the most of this senior Halloween weekend for her. ๐
It just now hit me of how amazing it would be for Smith (or any of your kids) to attend a college in the NE with your family’s love of Nantucket, Boston and all things NE! How fun it is to follow along. As always, thank you for sharing, Shay,

When one of mine does like what Kensington and Smith did, I think of Mary โpondering all these things in her heart.โ Those are the memories to soak up for a rainy day of missing them later on.

That is the sweetest thing that your older kids wanted to trick-or-treat together. Those are the moments to treasure! And congrats to Smith on the invitations. That’s so exciting for him!
Side note-cannot wait for book club. I’ve never had SO many mixed emotions about a book before! And I read a lot…
