Um, so this was thrown together in minutes (hence the quick and not too spectacular photograph). ย I woke up Sunday morning and rememberedย that I was supposed to have made a breakfast casserole the night before for church, so I took the sausage from said casserole, crescent rolls and Gouda and turned them into this: little bites of heaven. ย You can make these for a quick breakfast, for an appetizer, or a quick little lunch. ย Easy, easy, easy and oh so yummy!
This recipe yields 24 roll ups.
Shopping List
1 pound of breakfast sausage (I used Owen’s)
about 2 cups of shredded Gouda cheese (or sub with your favorite cheese)
3 cans of crescent rolls
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Line two baking sheets with parchment paper or foil (for easy clean up) and lightly spray with cooking spray. ย Set aside.
Brown your sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat. ย Once browned and crumbly, stir in your shredded cheese. ย Stir just a minute until the cheese is melted.
Take each crescent roll triangle and lay it flat. ย Add a little bit of your cheesy sausage mixture down in the center and then roll up. ย Place on your prepared baking sheet and repeat.
Pop your baking sheets in the oven and bake about 9 minutes.
Remove and serve immediately.
Listen, come football season, I imagine myself nibbling on these while watching Kansas State play. ย And trust me, they’re a crowd pleaser. ย They were gone in seconds at church!
