Ok…this recipe has been all over Pinterest. I’m blogging it here more for my memory than anything else. Sausage Balls are a staple in Southern Baptist fare, so this Southern Baptist was thrilled with this new “ultimate” recipe (all that means is you add cream cheese to the recipe!). A recipe like this will have you saying Praise the Lord!
Shopping List
1 pound Owens sausage (I prefer the hot variety)
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
1 (8 oz) package cream cheese, softened
1 1/4 cups Bisquick
Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients until everything is incorporated. Roll out mixture into golf ball size balls and place on foil lined baking sheet sprayed with Pam.
Bake about 20-25 minutes or until browned. Makes about 25 balls.
Trust me…the best sausage balls. There’s a reason they’re called the Ultimate.

Hi! Was wondering can you substitute sausage to ground beef? Looking recipe for baked meatball. Thanks!

Mix Taco seasoning AndThen Bake With Ground beef
Mix and Match Mama says
You could…but you would need to add some spice to it as well. Just adding ground beef alone would be a little bland. Make sure you add some red pepper flake, a little fennel, and lots of salt and pepper.

OMgosh! I'm from the south and these were at every get-together, funeral meal, church potluck, etc as a child. We're a Marine Corps family living in Hawaii now, and I haven't had them in forever. I just made them for a 4th of July BBQ, but I don't know if they'll last long enough to get to the BBQ. They are so yummy! Thank you!

I've made these once and they were a hit! Curious about what you would recommend as a dipping sauce?

I love these..they are SO good!! I was wondering though, if I was going to make these for a party, could i make them the day before hand? If so, how would you heat them up once ready to serve? thank you!! 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
Meredith, I would assemble them but not bake them the day before. I would wait and bake them the day of! Enjoy!

Shay, I just commented on your sausage and potato bites post about making ahead, but I just saw the comments here. Now my question is, which of the two balls are better if you had to pick one ?? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I would pick these :).

Do you brown the sausage first?
