Red Velvet and Christmas just go together. Well…let’s face it…me and red velvet just go together. I mean, who doesn’t love a brownie and who doesn’t love red velvet?? The world’s most perfect combination…easy, festive and delicious. Perfection.
Shopping List
1 box of red velvet cake mix
1 stick of butter, melted
2 eggs
2 tablespoons water
1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese, softened
1/3 cup powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Grease (I use Pam) an 8×8 inch baking dish.
In a mixing bowl, combine cake mix, butter, 1 egg and water with an electric mixer. Spread mixture into prepared baking dish. In another bowl, combine cream cheese, remaining egg, sugar and vanilla with electric mixer. Drop heaping spoonfuls of cream cheese mixture on top of brownie base. Using a sharp knife, swirl the cream cheese through the brownie mixture.
Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until lightly browned on the edges and center isn’t too wobbly. Remove from oven and cool at least 30 minutes before refrigerating. Refrigerate at least 2 hours before slicing and serving.
Ok…let me correct myself…the only thing better then red velvet and me is red velvet, me and cream cheese. These brownies taste like red velvet cheesecake. So delicious and so festive for your Christmas season (or any old season for that matter!)

I agree….the cream cheese even trumps the red velvet part. Cream cheese is Heaven sent.

Yum! I don't normally make red velvet, but using a mix might convince me to make these treats.

Hello:) I was wondering if you used duncan Hines or Betty Crocker mix for these. They have different quantities of mix in their boxes and I wants to make sure I'm following your recipe to a "t". These look deadly!
Thank you

Either brand will work! Trust me, even if their size is slightly different, either brand will work!

Do you have to refrigerate these? I am planning to put them with other cookies on a tray for the ladies at the child center at the gym and I want to make sure they will be okay. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes, when not serving, refrigerate. They can sit out on a cookie tray for sure…just not all day or overnight!

Is this regular sugar or powered sugar? Just double checking 🙂
