Yup. I did it. I added whiskey to a bundt cake. Some of you are clapping for me right now…I can hear you ;).
A little bourbon, a little chocolate, a lot of flavor…all in one bundt cake. Happy drinking eating.
Shopping List
1 box of yellow cake mix
2 small boxes of instant vanilla pudding
1/2 cup of veggie oil
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup Bourbon plus an additional 2 to 3 tablespoons
4 eggs
1 cup chocolate chips
1 stick butter, softened
4 cups powdered sugar
Preheat oven to 350 degrees
Grease (I use Pam) a 10 inch bundt pan
In mixing bowl, combine cake mix, puddings, oil, water, 1/2 cup Bourbon and eggs with electric mixer. Stir in chocolate chips. Pour into prepared pan and bake 40-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
Let cake rest on counter in pan 10 minutes. Then, invert the cake onto a serving plate to finish cooling.
To make your frosting, beat your butter, powdered sugar and remaining splashes of Bourbon with an electric mixer. Add more Bourbon if the frosting is too thick and more powdered sugar if it’s too thin.
Frost your cooled cake with your Bourbon frosting.
Sit back…and enjoy.
My new neighbor has quickly become one of my favorite people. He’s a professional BBQ competitor. He brings over loads and loads of BBQ and I take him cake. We are a match made in heaven (and my husband and his wife get to enjoy the fruits of our labor). So, when I needed Bourbon for this recipe, I walked across the street and the BBQ man handed me a giant bottle of whiskey. I love a BBQ man who shares his Whiskey. The whiskey and the chocolate are a perfect combination. This dessert would be great at a BBQ :).

You've probably been asked this question before, so I apologize for a repeat: Do your bundt cake recipes work in other pans? Could I use a round pan, or make a sheet cake, or use an angel food cake pan? I love your recipes, but I don't own a bundt pan (is this where you tell me EVERY mama should own a bundt pan?) 🙂
