Last Thursday, we made our annual trek to Boston to see the Red Sox play! This time, I decided to bring Kensington along too. She anticipated our Boston trip more than any other vacation. She told everyone she knew that she was going to Boston with her mom (and Lovie and Papa Jay)…she was excited! Andrew and Smith went camping and fishing at his parents’ house, so everyone set off for an adventure!
And before I get a lot of comments about it…yes, we live in Texas and no, we are not Rangers fans. We have been Red Sox fans for years and years…it is in our blood. I watch all of the Sox games on TV (thanks to Direct TV’s MLB package!) and live and breathe baseball season. And yes, it is very unfortunate that I married a Yankee…but we all have our crosses to bear…
We flew out of Dallas at 6:00 am on Thursday morning and arrived in Boston about 11:00. It was a little rainy but that didn’t stop us from having fun!
First stop, lobster rolls!!
This girl loves jumping in puddles!
I bought her a Red Sox bear. It was true love.
Going on the subway is so much fun!
My mom bought me this cute scarf at that Lou Lou store I’m standing in front of. I love a scarf!!
After a day of shopping, we got dressed in our hotel for the game. Kensington’s first Red Sox game!!
Our first stop at Fenway Park, visiting my dad’s brick.
The three of us at the brick.
We ate Fenway Franks and cotton candy :).
I love my dad!
During the Star Spangled Banner, I looked down and she had her hand over her heart and was singing. Bless her sweet heart!
The Red Sox mascot Wally came over and said hi. This made her day!
A little chilly but nothing we couldn’t handle thanks to our new Red Sox blanket (and she’s wearing my pink lipstick in this picture…).
Kensington fell asleep in the bottom of the 9th, so Papa Jay carried her back to the subway and hotel.
Sound asleep on the subway.
The next day, we set out for some more fun!
In front of the John Harvard statue. I kept telling Kensington that’s where she’ll be going to school. Hopefully she’ll get a full ride… 😉
It wasn’t raining, but she loved her umbrella…a girl can’t have too many accessories.
Looking inside the Harvard Law School library. All the smart people were in there studying…
Lunch at one of our favorite places, John Harvard’s!
Lovie loves Kensington.
Love my girl!
Papa Jay loves Kensington too!
Friday night, just dad and I went to the game while the other girls stayed back. We had so much fun!
I look forward to my Boston trip every year. I love spending this time with my dad. Baseball is our thing. I love that we can share it together.
Check out Mix and Match Mama today for a wonderful giveaway that benefits a company helping people all over the world.
And…check out the Vaughan family’s trip to Disney World. They are some of my favorite clients and just returned from their Disney vacation last week. Check it out here:

Looks like an AWESOME trip! I love how our kids get more and more involved in the travelling experience as they get bigger. Loved the pic of your dad carrying a sleeping Kensington. I can't tell you how many times Ella fell asleep at Camden Yards before we moved to Europe. 🙂
You do such an amazing job of sharing your great loves with your children! Travel and baseball. It doesn't get much better than that!

As a Boston girl born and raised, I loved reading about your trip and recognizing landmarks in your pictures.
As the daughter of a season ticket holder and loyal fan,
Go Sox!

While I don't understand the red sox thing AT ALL (I am all about rooting for the home team), I am glad you are sharing baseball with your daughter. I love baseball and cherish the memories of going to games with my parents.
She is growing up a Texas girl though…get the girl a rangers shirt!!!!!!

This might be my favorite post ever! My dad is also a baseball guy. He is a high school coach and is in the middle of his season right now. I rarely missed a game in 8 years growing up. The picture of your dad makes me cry because he looks so happy… I wish I could do something similar for my dad at Target Field. Such great memories for you and your girl!

so sweet! I'm dying over your matching green jackets. That is the cutest!

Ummmmmm…Kensington has a military jacket? SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO cute! Maybe I do need to have another baby in hopes that I may have a girl and can buy her a military jacket. Yes. That sounds reasonable.
Looks like you guys had a blast!

What fun! We are Brewer fans here in Wisconsin. Asked my daughters if they'd like to go to Miller Park…not interested! Just not a sporst fan like their mommy. Harvard is where my 12 yr old said she wants to go. Hoping for a scholarship too, in music. 🙂

I love that K got to go with you this year! And I know I've said it before but I love this tradition you have with your Dad! We go every hear to see our Cardinals play in St. Louis and I hope ot's something Abby and Hayden do for years to come with their Dad!

There are so many frameable pictures here I can't stand it! The one of K with her hand on her heart–a must. The two of your Dad holding a sleeping K–two musts! The one of her with the mascot–for sure. Sooo cute in your matching military jackets! And on and on it goes! Made me feel so happy this morning!

I love this post! Baseball is my dad's and my thing, as well…although not professional. We are college baseball fans- go Carolina Gamecocks! I love going to games with my dad.

So, my hubby is a Cubs fan (I know.) and by default I am too…. He's actually going to a Red Sox game this week while he's in Tampa on business. I feel like i'm becoming a Red Sox fan reading how much you love it. We use to go to a Cubs game every year when we lived in Indiana. I am now rethinking that we need to continue to make a Cubs game a yearly tradition. Such a great memory that you and your dad can share together! And, I love Kensington's coral pants and navy shirt!

Love me some Boston, and you guys are so cute in your matching army green jackets! No stop at Mike's Pastry for a black & white?

There's something about a grown woman taking a trip with her parents! I love it! It makes me feel like a little girl again! Enjoy all the memories with your parents and your girl!

Ahhhh!!!! So, so, so fun!!!
I LOVE that you love baseball. We are HUGE baseball fans, but of course we are San Francisco Giants fans! (Thankfully both Kevin & I were raised as Giants fans, so there is no house divided here) Out girls love watching the Giants. You need to come out to San Fran one of these years when the Red Sox play! It would be inter-league play, so I think they only play each other once a year 🙂
Dawn says
Is someone in your family originally from Boston? Just curious as to where the Red Sox tradition began? 🙂
Caravan Sonnet says
Aww..this is so precious! I love the pictures and hearing about such a precious family time! Thank you for sharing! 🙂

P.S.- I love that scarf!!! 🙂

Your trip looks like a ton of fun. It's great that Kensington enjoyed it all so much. I'm from Massachusetts and I'm jealous that you got to go to two games in a row! I don't think my oldest son goes to school a single day without some Red Sox clothing on. Go Sox!!
{Hi Sugarplum!} says
Your hair shouldn't look that cute after being rained on!!! Seriously, such cute travelers! That's so awesome you did something with just her, and that you share that love with your dad! And K looks just like your mom!

Looks like you guys had a blast! And Harvard? Would love for my girls to go there. 🙂 We have a few docs from there, that work with me. They are so smart! And so passionate of their baseball!

Ha! I'm never going to buy my kids Rangers stuff. I'm probably the least Texas girl that lives in Texas. My "home team" will always be Boston :).
The Clements Crew says
I'm a born and bread Texas girl/Rangers fan, but it's hard not to love the Sox after a trip to Fenway. I went when I was in high school and fell in love with Boston. Then proceeded to name my black lab Fenway! 🙂
And I love that you and your dad go to baseball games together. We are a baseball family too! I have such fond memories of going on summer vacations to Spring Training. Such a great sport!!
Thanks for sharing your trip. 🙂

I just stumbled accross your blog and I love it! I too am a die hard Sox fan living in Texas (but a yankee transplant, so not a 'real' Texan I suppose!). Looking at your pictures was so fun! That's such a wonderful tradition your family has. We have tickets for when they come to Houston to play the Astros and August can't come soon enough!

All of your pictures look so fun from this trip! I love the whole rain – game – sporty fashion. You gals know how to dress! Love both green jackets and the rain boots and the striped tops! So cute!!!
