A little this and a little that on your Thursday (which pretty much means that I have a very random assortment of things to say today…).
On Saturday, the weather was gorgeous in North Texas, so Smith and I headed to the park. I just love spending one on one time with this boy. I climb, I slide, I swing…I do it all….because one day, I know he’ll stop asking me…so I need to appreciate it now.
If Elton John and Eddie Van Halen had a love child…it would look like this.
The cuteness. It kills me. It also kills me that she literally screamed herself to sleep the night before because…she didn’t like the way we tucked her in bed. Yes. Andrew and I had to turn up the volume on the Olympics to drown out her drama…but then she woke up all smiles and sweetness :). I think she’s a morning person like her mama and daddy…and not a night person. I tend to scream at night too…
OK…you know how I keep telling you people to get this robe (because it’s fabulous)…well now, not only is it fabulous but it’s on sale. Yup. Hurry while they still have all colors and sizes available. I wear mine every.single.day. People…the softness…it’s crazy good!
C has the pink one and I have the purple…so cozy.
You should go read Erika’s blog today! She’s talking about my cousin’s bow shop (where Kensington gets all of those cute bows!). Erika has so many cute pics of Ebby Lee in some new spring bows!!
And don’t forget about my buttons on the sidebar…
…I change them out seasonally…
…right now, I’m whipping up all things St. Patrick’s Day and Easter. Click the buttons on the right to find the perfect recipe for you!
And finally…new series coming to you!
I really try and answer every email I get from you. I am always so honored that you reach out to me. That being said, many of the emails I get are kind of like Dear Abby questions. So, I thought it would be fun to display those questions with my responses occasionally on the blog. No worries, if you send me one of these emails, all names will be changed for privacy. Ask Away with Shay…not that I have any qualifications to answer your questions…but since you’re asking, I’ll answer :). Coming soon.
And dinner tonight…
Yum.
Yum.
Yum.
Have a great Thursday! See you in the morning!

First and foremost, thank you thank you thank you for saying "Paddy" rather than "Patty" in reference to St Patrick's Day. Yay! It makes me love your blog even more.
And that picture of your son with the guitar and glasses is hysterical. Twenty years from now, he should recreate that same pose!
Sheaffer {Pinterest Told Me To} says
Smith is HILARIOUS in that picture. And K in her sponge rollers? I love it. I slept in those as a kid too! I guess we all did! Heading over to check out that recipe now. Dang it looks good!

Ask away with Shay…how fun!!!! Super excited for the series. And your name totally makes me wish I had a name that rhymes with everything 😉

Your kids are adorable, but I love when you throw in the tidbits like Kensington screaming at bedtime. I thought my 5 year old was the only one. 5 going on 15. 🙂

I have a travel question for you. We are headed to Santa Barbara for a wedding. Its a lot cheaper to fly into lax and drive, did you like doing that for Seans wedding?
Tab & Erika says
I LOVE that picture of Smith with the glasses!! And…K's hair is so cute girly!!
Mix and Match Mama says
It's not a bad drive from LAX to SB…I would avoid rush hour at all cost though. It only took us an hour and 45 minutes to get there (without traffic) but over 3 hours to return (with morning traffic).

I love that you had a little park date with Smith–how fun!! 🙂

What a fun idea for a blog series! One of the things I love about you is that you have always answered my email questions. I know that's got to be hard since you get asked so many, but I've certainly always appreciated it! Your park date with Smith sounds priceless! 🙂

I love your blog! Question: what size did you get in the robe? I've been loving your "style" suggestions and have bought quite a few things you suggested. I find our size is the same. Thanks!! 🙂 Happy Thursday!

Thank you for keeping it real regarding Kensington. Some blog writers only highlight the sunshine and roses side of life and and prefer a nice dose of reality!

Hi Shay! Love reading your blog every day!! And love that plush robe– any thoughts on what size I should order? I normally wear a size 4. Can't wait to hear from you! 🙂

My robe is a small. It's not too tight and not too loose. Since you're able to cinch it up really well, I think you can't go wrong sizing up if that makes you feel more comfy about ordering. The softness will floor you! 🙂

Kensington screaming at night…because of the way you tucked her in…lol. You come up with the most clever names for your series (ask away with shay). And that pasta looks really yummy and easy! Enjoy your posts as always.

Can't wait for the Ask Away series! I'm always intrigued by what people ask 🙂

Thank you for sharing your day to day with us. You brighten up even the dreariest day. Thanks also for reminding me to appreciate the little things!

Smith needs to get rid of that Yankees shirt!! 😉

Love that you took the opportunity to spend one-on-one time with Smith, and to play *with him* (not supervising the play). What a memory treasure and special time; he's growing up fast! Savor each moment!
Have a fab day!

Ohhhhh I can't wait for the new blog series!!! :)) so fun!!

I have a daughter and 3 sons, and you are a wise, wise Mom for climbing and sliding and playing along WITH your son. I did that with mine. I tried to be involved and interested in what my boys were involved and interested in…and now, for some reason, they think I know all about every sport AND I DO NOT! But I love that they think I do!
Jaren says
Such a cute park picture!
So excited for Ask Away with Shay!!
And can I just say, it makes me feel better to hear about your girl drama too!

I love to slide/swing/climb with my kids too, but the LOOKS you get on the playgrounds of Europe… Clearly they look down on adults engaging in such shenanigans in the Old World.
Other things that just are not done by mature adults in Europe include (but are not limited to): wearing distressed denim, shiny "high street" Hunters, and anything with an MLB or NBA or NFL or college emblem. Mind you, I choose to flaunt my AMERICAN-ness and do all of the above. But I'm kind of tired of feeling that I stick out.
End rant. Whew!
