Last week, I did a post all about Kensington and this week, it’s all about…
Smith.
Oh goodness! This boy melts my heart.
Smith really is an easy kid. He’s almost always happy, he is a really good listener and has a really sweet demeanor. (Not to say he doesn’t get himself into trouble on occasion…what rambunctious little boy doesn’t?!?! But for the most part, he’s pretty easy.)
Right now, this is what Smith is into…
He’s doing tee ball for the first time and really likes it! He prefers the games over the practices but who can blame him?! He likes to eat a bowl of Frosted Flakes before each game because he says it makes him stronger :).
Smith loves him some Nixon Slaughter. Oh goodness. These boys have been peas in a pod since birth. When we were on vacation, he asked me no less than a dozen times a day “what’s Nixon doing right now?”. He understood the timezone difference, so he wanted to know what his BFF was doing back in Dallas at the same time he was in Hawaii. They are pretty inseparable :).
No. This is not about money…it’s about the color orange ;). My son loves the color orange. In fact, I was unaware that children could love a color quite as much as this kid does. Ask any of my friends (and their kids too), Smith loves orange. Rarely will you see him not wearing orange (he even has orange on almost all of his shoes), he always picks orange ice cream for dessert, he likes to eat orange yogurt with his lunch, his teachers tell me that they just automatically assume any class project he makes will be orange (like the Christmas tree he made me this year…orange). My kid loves orange.
I also didn’t know that at four, Smith could be so deep. Here’s the thing…the Lowe side of the family is great and all but we’re not rocket scientists. The Shull side however, they’re all freakishly smart. Half of what my father-in-law says to me, I don’t understand. That being said, I’m pretty sure Smith will fall in line as another Shull man…too smart for his own good (Andrew is freakishly smart too but let’s not tell him I said that…I like to pretend like I’m the smart one in this house!)
Anyway…Smith is a deep thinker and asks more probing questions than I know how to answer. He asks questions all day long. Deep questions. Hard questions. Thoughtful questions. Oh my. This kid makes me think!
However, in my opinion, the one time he’s not thinking is when he’s doing this…
…cheering for the Yankees. Dude. I’m such a failure that my son loves the Yankees. I completely blame my Yankee-loving husband for this one. Not only does he cheer for them…he’s obnoxious about it (well, aren’t all Yankees obnoxious?!).
And then, you know what Smith does best…
…this was last Saturday. You know…he’ll just fall asleep anywhere and stay asleep. If there were an Olympic event for sleeping, my kid is taking home the gold medal. Without a doubt.
Speaking of which, last week, I showed you this picture of them bumping…
…and then when they were done, he seriously asked me if he could do this…
…nap in the yard in his bumper. I said no. However, he would have if I would have let him :).
As for boy clothes, I think they are so much easier (and often even more fun!) than girl clothes! Boy clothes just always seem to go together without a lot of thought and coordination. Since I only talked about Nordstrom’s play clothes in Kensington’s post, I’m going to do the same in this post too. One of the main reasons I like to online shop for Smith is that I can order him stuff with free shipping and free returns and then try it on him in our house instead of in the mall…because clothes shopping with a 4 year old boy is rarely ever fun!
This is pretty much Smith’s uniform…
My mom bought Smith those sneakers for his birthday and he has worn them almost every single day. I love how they’re simple enough for him to put on himself and that they already look a little worn…perfect for little boys!
And for a few other pieces of play clothes that this boy will be wearing all summer long, look below…
…all you have to do is click the image to see the details!
And hello fabulous…
…I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Any type of shoe like this (for boys and girls!) that my kids can wear and I can wipe off, is perfection! These Native shoes are rubber so they’re perfect for the pool, the mall, the park, school and everywhere in-between. And when they get wet or dirty, you just wipe them off. Love that!
My boy.
I told you last week, that I read Dr. Dobson’s Bringing Up Girls…well, I’ve also read Bringing Up Boys too. It’s amazing and scary how different raising a son and a daughter is! I am so thankful that there are Godly people out there that write books for us parents to read!
This is my little man. He’s four years old. He loves to watch Paw Patrol and play with Ninja Turtles. Legos are a favorite of his too. He loves Cinnamon Pop Tarts. He gives the best kisses and hugs. He loves to talk about Jesus and has a heart for the Lord. And we just love this boy so much.
For dinner this week, I’m keeping things simple. Head on over to Meal Planning Monday to see what’s cookin’…
And just for fun (because really…we should try and have more fun on Mondays!)…I’m going to show you my new very favorite shirt in the whole wide world…because it’s back in stock but in a variety of new colors!
Remember, I bought these two shirts earlier in the winter…
…and I wear them all the time!! Well on Saturday, I realized that even though my two shirts are no longer in stock, the exact same shirt in a new set of fun summer colors are in! I bought two more…
I bought the Blue Print and the Mocha.
Seriously ladies…these shirts are fabulous!! They’re light, they’re airy, they don’t wrinkle, they look super cute with jeans and shorts and they’re very flattering! Here are some other colors they have in stock right now. My first two colors sold out really quickly in the winter…apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks these shirts are perfection!
Solid (in 7 colors), Black and White Stripe, Multi, Black Leaf, Cream Blue, Deep Purple, Hunter, Jade
I don’t care your age or your size…you will look super cute in one of these shirts. Send me a selfie of you in one! I’d love to see!
Happy Monday friends!

Love your boy post! What a sweetie.
Regarding the Lush shirt, how do you wash it? I have 2 and it says dry clean only, but wondering if I can thrown them in the wash?
Thanks so much!

Sweet posts about your kids Shay! They are both such cuties!
How long until you get Ashby? It seems like it is taking forever, I'm sure you think so as well! How old will she be when she finally comes home?
Good luck and I am looking forward to reading all about her!

HI Shay! What a sweet post – Smith is just darling! On another note, I think I need one (or 2 or 3!) of your must-have shirts! What size did you get??

What a sweet kiddo! When my son was that age he loved red, and his best friend loved blue. Each of them would go to school literally dressed head to toe in their favorite color. It was a sight. I still remember my son's reason for dressing in all red. He said he "wanted to look like fire."

Hi Shay! Love your blog! I am completely obsessed with those Nordstrom shirts, but have a quick question. I noticed that they said to order one size down for a closer fit…what did you do? True size, or one size smaller? Thanks!
Melanie Lien says
Smith is precious!
Did you order a small in the shirt? That is adorable!
Mix and Match Mama says
Lots of questions to answer!
1. I ordered Smith a 4T in the shirts because I always like to buy them a little larger for layering in the fall and a longer shelf life.
2. I ordered the Lush shirt in small!
3. I have both dry cleaned my Lush shirts and washed them but laid them out to dry. I haven't put them in the dryer. Both options work beautifully!

He is so precious! Love his little smile.

Hey Shay! Do you think the shirt would work for a growing baby bump if I sized up? I'm usually a small (sometimes a medium depending on brand) so was thinking about getting a medium to grow with me this summer. Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
A bump would be adorable underneath it!
