I love Fridays! As always, I’m linking up with my three girls Narci, Erika and Andrea and sharing my Friday Favorites. Here you go. Happy (almost) weekend!
I picked this Essie polish up about a month or so ago from Target but just now tried it out…it was love at first swipe…
…Bachelorette Bash. I think I’ll try it on my toes next. If we all polish our nails a bright color, spring weather will come, right?
Also, I’ve mentioned this before on my Shade about nail polish but many of you ask me when I have time to polish my nails and let them dry…and here’s what I do (call me crazy but it works!)…
…I sleep on my back, so I paint my nails right before I go to sleep and then get into bed and rest my hands on my stomach, watch a little TV, and then go to sleep. When I wake up, my nails are good to go. If you’re a back sleeper, try this. Seriously, it works!
Ahhhh…so many of you agreed with me about these Sam Edelman sandals on Wednesday! Many of you (my mom included) have several pairs because you love them so much. Here’s the thing…I’m now convinced that if we all paint our nails bright colors AND wear sandals, then spring weather will definitely come. Humor me please :).
They come in several colors, you can see them all here.
And just in case you’re curious…
1. Yes, I do need a pedicure.
2. My toes are OPI’s Mod About You.
3. These are old Gap camo jeans that aren’t available any more (boo).
On Sunday at church, Andrea popped these two necklaces out of her bag for my girls. Griffin wears them all.the.time. and she thought my girls needed them too. As you can see…my girly girls have enjoyed them this week…
…I want to give credit where it’s due to Sprinklings who makes these cute necklaces.

If you have a girl in your life who needs a little gift, you should check them out :).
Thank you sweet Andrea for always thinking of my girls.
Speaking of Andrea, she told me that I should have told you another story on Tuesday when we all shared our most embarrassing moments. (Don’t you love it when you have friends that love and know you so well that after you tell them your embarrassing moment, they go, “No, you’ve had worse!”?)
Here it goes…
Every summer, my friends and I hang out at a nearby pool…
Two year old Kensington marching around said pool on another visit that summer.
…on this particular day, Sheaffer and I were the only ones by the kiddie pool with Carter (2), Kensington (2) and Smith (1). We were laughing and having the most enjoyable day until all of a sudden, sweet little two year old Kensington started pooping in the pool (she was even wearing a swim diaper!) and it started going EVERYWHERE. I reacted like the calm mom that I am and started screaming. Sheaffer for some weird reason, jumped into the pool with the poop and started scooping it out with her styrofoam cup. That made me start laughing soooooo hard. I then started screaming at Sheaffer to get out of there (because even though we’re friends…I’m not going to make her scoop up my kid’s poop…plus, it was EVERYWHERE!).
When we finally stopped laughing, I had to make that walk of shame to the lifeguard stand and tell the teenagers running the joint that my kid just pooped all in their kiddie pool. At this point, I apologized profusely, collected my toddlers and left with my head down as they were closing the pool to drain and clean it thanks to my kid. Sigh.
Andrea’s favorite part of this story is that later that day, I received a text from Sheaffer. You see…this pool has one of those dry erase boards at the entrance that says stuff like “Happy Monday. Cannonball contest is at 2:00 today.”. Well, they were needing to change it to “kiddie pool closed today” (thanks to my kid) and so Sheaffer asked if she could change the sign for them…
…I laughed for days.
Sheaffer is so funny ;).
Being a mom can be both gross and embarrassing…so blessed to do it all with girlfriends that can laugh with me.
And one more sweet pool pic of Kensington that summer (just because)…
…she has “goggle” eyes :).
Today is the first day of spring!
To celebrate Spring…I’m sharing my favorite spring supper on my foodie blog today. Even if the weather doesn’t feel like spring, we can eat like it does.
Enjoy your weekend!
Sheaffer {Pinterest Told Me To} says
Hahahahahahahahahahahahaha!!!!!!
So, this might be one of YOUR most embarrassing memories….but it's one of MY favorites. You know how when people say that in critical situations people develop super human powers (because of adrenaline) and can like pick up a car that somebody is trapped under? Well my superhero power is that I jumped in a pool full of poop without any regard for my own safety. 🙂 I learned a lot about myself that day. Mama is good in a crisis.
Love you friend! 🙂

I am dying!! "Mama is good in a crisis!" These are the reasons I wake up extra early just to read blogs. And, Shay, I have also done the walk of shame at the pool with 2 precious toddlers. 🙂

Best. Post. Ever!
1) The polish is fabulous. And thanks to Amazon prime it will be here by Sunday 🙂
2) Those sandals are adorable! BUT how is it already sandal time?!?!?!
3) Your girls TOTALLY needed those necklaces and they look presh!
4) The poop story is one of my favorites ever! EVER! Sheaffer LAUNCHED into action and then the sign just tops it off. Hopefully no one poops in the pool this summer.
5) Those pics of K are some of my FAVORITE! I remember that exact small group because Mason was like 2 months old and he was so white he was translucent and you made me feel like a ROCKSTAR because you told me how awesome I looked in my bathing suit (with an 8 week old). hahaha I'm pretty sure I didn't, but I'm also pretty sure your sweet words made my day 🙂 Where did our babies go???
Katie says
That is a great story!!! Lol!
Also, if you spray Pam on your fingernails they are dry within seconds!

Oh my goodness! That pool story had me in stitches! I just had a visual of Sheaffer frantically running around the pool! Thanks for sharing…and the laugh! Happy Friday!
Leigh says
I am laughing so much right now! Those swim diapers do not work!!!!! I'm not sure why we bother. I must order those sandals. They kept running out of my size last year so I never got a pair. Gotta move fast this year. And I love that Mod About You polish. It's on it's way to me as we speak.
Paula says
That is awesome! Reminds me of the time I was in Target with my SIL and her toddlers. One started puking. So I instantly ran over and cupped my hands to catch it. WHY? Not sure! But, "Momma is good in a crisis" I guess!
Paige Cowart says
Such a cute post!!! Love the nail polish!!! I have owned 2 pairs of the sandals. In fact last night going through my closet I had to tearfully throw my leopard ones out. I had wore them the past 5 summers so much..strap broke 🙁 I may try just the neutral pair this season, but you should definitely get you a leopard pair. Promise they will be your "go to" sandal of the season!! Love your blog!!! Thanks for all your yummy recipes, cute style ideas and just keeping it real!!!
Chasity says
I usually just stalk your blog:) BUT today the poop in the pool had me laughing sooo hard I had to say thanks for sharing! Hilarious! I also stalk Shaeffer's blog and the sign was hysterical. Wished I lived closer so we could be friends… But if your ever near Jackson MS I would love to hang out!
Happy Friday Ya'll,
Chasity

Thanks for the laugh this morning! 🙂
Marty says
This exact thing happened when my oldest son was about 5…but we were new in town, and I didn't have any friends there to help me. That's the mark of a good friend, right there…one who will jump into a pool with a styrofoam cup, and fish out your kid's poop. Susie Harris should paint that on a canvas. 🙂

Okay, I NEED to have those camo jeans 🙂 Please let us know where you got them!!!!!
Natalie Zambreski says

Sweet Shay,
Just one quick question…your toes on are different color!!!! In a previous post you said you always paint your toes in the same color, and it was a whitish color not the lavender you are showing in this post. Why the change? Just curious! I read your blog daily! Thanks much!

Mix and Match Mama says
This is the shade I wear year around… Mod About You. I think one time last summer, I wore Alpine Snow but that was an exception.
Kasi says
That is hysterical! And great bribery material for her down the road, lol!!
shaeken says
Oh my gosh I TOTALLY needed this laugh today!! Also, love those nail polishes! Bachelorette Bash always looks a little purple-y on me (I'm part Native American so I have a semi-bronze skin tone…but an awkward one where it turns a weird shade of paste during the winter, thank goodness for spray tans!!) but it's so perfectly pink on you!! And I definitely have to pick up Mod About You when I'm shopping this weekend, love it!! Have you tried Essie's Ballet Slippers or Worth the Wait? Ballet Slippers is generally my go-to but Worth the Wait is a new discovery and I haven't worn anything else for 2 weeks since I got it!
Andrea (127things) says
Oh my goodness I laughed so hard out loud when I read this early this morning that I almost woke up my entire family! LOVE it! Have a fabulous weekend!
