Today, is a very special day for us because it’s this guy’s birthday…
…happy birthday Andrew! We love you!! xoxo
We have big plans for his birthday…baseball practice and dinner at home :). I asked him if he wanted to do anything special for his day and he said that was special enough (he’s so sweet!).
Here’s our life lately…
Every week when I volunteer at Kensington’s school, I love walking by this bulletin board right outside the office…it has Ebby Lee’s pic on top and Kensington’s on bottom. Such sweet little kindergarten girls :).
This cutie loves to help me in the kitchen! On Friday, we stayed inside all morning and did some baking together in our pjs…
…then we went outside and played on the driveway. We had such a beautiful weekend!
My kiddos may argue, fuss and fight…but they really do get along so well. The entire way home from school on Friday, they talked non-stop about their day. Smith was wearing his “workout” clothes :).
Every Friday night, we eat Mexican food and then go get yogurt and toppings for dessert. Here’s a Shay fact for you…I like ice cream…but it’s not my favorite. I always get the tiniest little bit of ice cream and then a ton of toppings. I’d rather eat the toppings than the ice cream. My favorite topping is always toffee.
Shopping with my oldest girl on Saturday.
We had the best Sunday afternoon! After church and lunch, we came home and played outside from 1 until almost 8! Around 4:30, we took a break and relaxed on the patio with our favorite reads and/or iPad games. Such a nice way to spend the day.
On Monday, Erika and I took the four littles to the Perot Museum for the day. Love this crazy crew!
Ashby loved the Perot!! She was totally into it!
So proud of her little project.
Smith loves the Perot too :).
Me and my girl!
Goodness! I love this sweet Ashby!
And I love this sweet Smith too!
Playing in the water together.
While we were in the kids’ play area watching them play, I posted a pic of Ashby on Instagram and the most common question was “what brand are her shoes?”. I had to laugh because when I looked around…all four kids were wearing the exact same shoes. We heart Natives :).
We ended our trip with a race against T-Rex!
I’m going to miss these boys when they’re in kindergarten next year. They’re so much fun to have around!
We drove back to McKinney and dropped off the Slaughters at 2:00. We had an hour to kill before picking up Kensington and I didn’t want to go home and unload everyone just to load them back up. Ashby and Smith were super happy and content in the back, so we drove through Starbucks and then we sat in the carpool line while I read and they watched a movie. It was a very relaxing way to end our day after the museum.
Later that afternoon, I made dinner and this little one colored. She is so sweet :).
Happy Thursday! In honor of Andrew’s birthday, I’m sharing his very favorite meal on my foodie blog today…
…click here to see (your family will love it too!).

I think i'm going to have to get both of my girls a pair of Natives to wear this summer. They seem like the perfect outdoor play shoe! And can I just say how much I love that both Kennsington & Ashby almost always wear MJ =) We love us some MJ!!

How do the natives run Shay? Tts? My daughter is between sizes I'm thinking go up so they last us through the summer?
Sheaffer {Pinterest Told Me To} says
We should all buy stock in Natives. Seriously. Or they should put us on the payroll. The picture of Ashby at the Perot is absolutely precious!

You don't have to post this comment I just can't get over how much Erika's oldest son reminds me of Sean. He may not in person but through pictures they are twins!

Happy Birthday Andrew!!!!! Love these posts…. Since you showed the Natives shoes I must share a tip. One of my girls works at a Vans shoe store and brought me some of the blue gel cleaner. Oh my gosh ~ this stuff is a little miracle in a bottle!!! It works on leather, canvas, nylon, vinyl and synthetics. It cleans up my pink Skechers Go Walks like new ~ both top and the white wall on the bottom. It also works great on Crocs…….anything really and especially the white wall on sneakers ~ makes them look new! Have a great day!!!

I love Natives too! I bought my daughter her second pair, the pink irredescent, and they are so pretty! She wore her last pair all last spring and summer. They're fantastic!

Happy birthday, Andrew! We are the same way – our birthdays are spent in the middle of the crazy, everyday life. It helps us remember how special it is! And sometime after we go out for an adult dinner. Both are wonderful and special!

Can you tell me where you found your patio furniture? I love it!!!

Ashby's smile is THE SWEETEST. And I so agree about loving toppings more than ice cream 🙂

Two of my favorite things: frozen yogurt toppings and reading outside on a sunny day 🙂 Life lately looks sweet!

Shay, I do not know you personally, I stumbled upon your blog and enjoy so much about it :).
I have been so blessed with two wonderful sons who are in college and heading to college (K-state in fact).
However, when I was your age I had wanted to adopt a little girl from China, but that is not how my life worked out. Therefore, it is just so much fun for me to read about your Ashby. I am completely amazed by how she "glows" with happiness since she joined your family! You have so much love to give her and she has so much love to give all of you! Enjoy every minute, God bless.

When we went to the Perot museum, that room with the ball tracks was crazy packed with school groups and my little girls were getting trampled! I was very glad for the little kid room! I love how perfect you window seat is for kids to stand at!
