I don’t know about you…but I love peeking into people’s homes and seeing how they decorate and live…especially this time of year! I’m a fool for a pumpkin, so seeing pumpkins in people’s houses makes me smile. Here’s a little look into our pumpkin filled house this fall…
I have five of these stone jack-o-lanterns around the front door and side door. They look really pretty at night with a candle burning. We bought them several years ago at Sandstone Gardens right outside of Joplin, MO.
So, I bought this jack-o-lantern last year at Hobby Lobby and they have them again this year. He’s a happy Jack, so I really like him. And if it were acceptable, I’d leave fall leaves on my mantles all year long :).
Leaves on a mantle are just cozy :).
My “boo” sign is from Hobby Lobby and my mercury pumpkin is from Pottery Barn. I put Christmas lights inside the pumpkin so that it glows 24/7 :).
My friend Amy made us this subway art years ago. It has all of our favorite fall words on there.
Speaking of signs, my Happy Pumpkin Spice Season sign and my little battery operated pumpkin are both new this year and available at Hobby Lobby. This little corner in my kitchen makes me happy.
Hey there pumpkin!
Just a little bit of fall sprinkled around.
My most prized possessions in life are the plates that Kensington and Smith made for fall and Christmas. I just love them so much and treasure them dearly. This year, Ashby made one for fall and Christmas too, but it’s not ready yet. As soon as I get them back, I’ll post pictures. Her little hand prints are just as sweet :). That’s a two year old Smith hand print turkey and a three year old foot print scarecrow from Kensington.
Also…do you see my stack of Pottery Barn Kids’ plates? Andrea and I both collect them with quite a bit of zeal! Four new ones come out each season, and as you can see, I’ve been collecting them for several seasons now. Whenever the catalog arrives, Andrea and I immediately call each other and discuss this year’s patterns :). We’re so much alike in this department! My kiddos eat every meal off of them between now and when I put out the Christmas version. I even eat breakfast and lunch off of them! They make me happy :).
Cute little plates for kids everyone :).
My little coffee bar area. I find seasonal mugs everywhere from Pottery Barn to Home Goods. I typically buy two every time I see some and now after all of these years, I have a fun little collection.
My little spook house lights up and plays “scary” music. This is hands-down, without a doubt, most certainly my kids favorite decoration in the house :).
Last year, I bought this jar at Hobby Lobby along with the glittery pumpkins and for each season, I change out what’s inside. For Christmas, I’ll put ornaments inside, for Easter, plastic eggs…I’m always looking for new things to put inside. This summer, I had Fruit Loops inside :).
Just little touches of fall :).
Years ago, Erika babysat my big kids one night during the fall and they made these little canvases with their hand prints…I treasure it. This is in my office :).
A pumpkin pillow for the couch :).
And like I showed you guys on Friday…all Shull kiddos are sleeping on Halloween sheets :).
That’s a little bit of fall…la, la, la, la at the Shull house!
Thanks for stopping by :).
So, how do you add fall into your home? I’d love to know!! I’m a sucker for all things fall and I know you guys probably have loads of great ideas! Feel free to comment and share :).
Speaking of fall…
…how about a fall supper? My slow cooker Apple Cider Pork Tenderloin is a must for your fall dinner. You cannot mess this meal up…it’s so easy!

It's my second holiday as a married lady so I am trying to incorporate some holiday-ness into our home. I'm getting a door hanger made and I am looking for a banner for our fireplace but I love your ideas! It helps to see someone else's home freshly decorated to figure out what to do, I never know if I should hold off because we don't have kids yet but somethings I just LOVE too much!

Congrats on your marriage! We don't have kiddos yet either, but I really LOVE decorating for all holidays. Makes for a fun tradition that my hubby and I can do together. 🙂

Target's dollar section has some cute banners this year. I bought one last week that has acorn shapes for $3. They also had some banners that were just plain flags that you could decorate yourself. There were different colors of letters available so you could choose your own sentiment.

We were married 7 years before having our baby and I always just did what I was anxious to do for Holidays! I decorated and made fun Halloween treats like gummy worms coming out of Oreo dirt and mustard/ketchup spiderweb with mummy dogs! My husband acted like I was a goof but secretly loved it and I did too :-). I even made photo albums of each year, telling about what the two of us did! Today those are some of my treasures and my 2 year old already is interested in looking at the family that was already here before he was :-).

Beautiful! I especially like your mantels and the glittery pumpkins in your kitchen! I'm spending my first Fall in Bangkok, and unfortunately I have yet to spot one pumpkin!!

Shay, where did you have the plates made? I've seen the little pottery paint places but this is super cute! I've never seen them decorated so well!
Erika Slaughter says
I feel like we need to redo that canvas! Now with Pinterest, we could probably have them looking great! And…our kids would know what to do! Last time they were so confused! Ha!

Apple cider pork tenderloin! YUMMM! I love all of your little fall decorations around the house, especially that scarecrow. Where did you buy that? Fall fall Shay!!
Narci says
So pretty!! I love all of your Fall decorations!!
Rachel Embery says
Love it all, especially the mantles. I do seasonal mantles too but I love to weave in white Christmas lights for the soft glow. Not the led though, the good old traditional ones!
Love on the Lake says
I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this! Thanks for sharing. We got married last Halloween – it wasn't planned but our dream venue was booked for two years otherwise and since I too love all things pumpkins, I just made it work. It was pretty "wedding on Halloween" with tons of white pumpkins versus a creepy "Halloween wedding." Ie no black, no costumes, etc. I still remember the 200 baby boo white pumpkins arriving from a farm in the Midwest and doing a pumpkin happy dance around the house. I love pumpkins too, woot woot
Sheaffer {Pinterest Told Me To} says
This is the first year that I've ever decorated for fall, and it's so much fun! A "thankful" banner, real white mini pumpkins, little pumpkins on sticks sticking out of jars…it's so cozy and I love it! Your house looks great!
Sarah says
Your house is GORGEOUS!!! I love all of your decorations — I think I'll be making a trip to Hobby Lobby later this week haha. And those Pottery Barn plates?! Too cute!!! Adding those to my list, too 🙂 Can you tell I'm equally as obsessed with fall?! We moved two weeks ago and I've been having fun sprucing up the new place. Any excuse to buy more fall decor, right?!

I always enjoy seeing a peek of the seasons inside of your house. This is weird but I love lamps and can tell that you do too. I'd love to know where you found some of yours … I'm in the Dallas area too. 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I get them everywhere! Target, Walmart, Home Goods, Pottery Barn…everywhere!
Lyndsey Parks says
Gosh, if I were to build and decorate a home, no joke I would mimic yours to the T! But, I'm a 23 year old newly-wed so our little 1 bedroom apartment and skimpy Fall decor will have to do for now 🙂 I know these are sweet moments but you make it look so much more fun with all that adorable stuff! Thanks for sharing, I love how your blog is a great read for such a wide range of folks! 😀

I love her home too! I never tire of seeing it! Waiting to see the master bedroom/bath!
Julie Magdic says
How do you make those plates with the kids hand/footprints on them?
Mix and Match Mama says
There is a lady in our area who takes the prints and decorates them. She does amazing work!

I love me a good pumpkin, too! Your house is gorgeous, and I always enjoy getting a peak inside of it. Anytime you post pictures, I catch myself thinking "I wish I could see the blueprints of Shay's house." I'm always trying to design my dream house in my mind and even have a Pinterest board full of different layouts for inspiration.
Katelyn Magerko says
Your house looks so cozy and inviting, love that feeling!! I'm going to start collecting the Pottery Barn seasonal plates for my daughter. Her name is one letter too long for them to do the personalized one, bummer. I guess I should get used to having nothing personalized for her now! And those bed sheets, ahhh!! I wish they made a fitted crib size but I have the fitted xmas ones in my cart ready to buy as we speak. Happy fall!!
Leigh Clark says
Love all the fall decor – I am slowly accumulating some items for my home!!
Heather Lott says
Beautiful and cozy decorations! I bet my kiddos would love eating off seasonal plates; how fun! I always put out pumpkin spice candles with my pumpkins and I never get tired of them. Speaking of, where did you get the candle holder in your laundry room?
Courtney Bartlett says
Everything looks great! I've got to get those pottery barn sheets and plates for my kiddos. I'm proud to say I've passed my seasonal love on to the three of them just like you and your kids. I was surprised the subway art didn't include the word "plaid" because we all know that's a love of yours too! 😉
Lizzie says
Shay,I'm loving the themed bed sheets! Such a cute idea! Was wondering what sizes are your kids beds? They look like a good size in the picture. I am about to get my first his own big boy bed and would appreciate any suggestions. Have a great day?

Shay- I love all the Fall touches you add to your home! How did I not know about the Pottery Barn plates?! So fun! Thanks as always for sharing!
Sara Fehrenbacher says
Love your fall decor! We do similar decor at our house- leaves, pumpkins, and acorn decor in the house. A few mums and scarecrows outside in our landscaping. Not much Halloween stuff… mostly just fall so we can transition straight from Fall/Thanksgiving to Christmas decor.
I have a little chalkboard at my coffee bar, and when I first got it, I used a chalk marker, and it looked awesome! but then when I tried to take of the chalk marker it was super hard to get off… so now I've been using real chalk, all colors, and it just doesn't show up as well. What kind of chalk do you use on your little piggy chalk board?
http://www.saraleeblog.com
Mix and Match Mama says
I use Bistro brand chalk markers! You can get them at Hobby Lobby or on Amazon too :).
Shannon says
I love your Fall decorations especially those cute pumpkins you have outside your home!! I saw some similar at Homegoods a few weeks back and didn't buy them and I bet they are gone by now. I just posted pictures of our home decorated for Fall last night. I haven't even added Halloween decorations yet I didn't have the energy to go through it all yet 🙂 If you have time come and take a look. Have a great day!!

I love getting all the pumpkins out as soon as the calendar changes to September. Going to the local plant farm is always on the list too, I have to get my mum fix every year!! Here is a little peek into our fall home: http://onemilehomestyle.blogspot.com/2015/09/2015-fall-home-tour.html

Most of my house is decorated in real deals decor. They don't have a store in every state but if you are ever visiting where there is one you must go. Their decor is to die for! Check them out on facebook!

Do the flannel sheets from PBK hold up well? I am hesitant to get flannel because it always seems to pill.
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! The first year, I bought my kids flannel sheets from Target but they shrank and would pill, so the following year, I bought PBK sheets and they hold up beautifully! I wash and dry them over and over again and they don't shrink or pill. I think they're a great investment!
Melanie says
There's nothing like home, especially one that is cozy and welcoming! Your home is beautiful:)
Sue says
Your house is beautiful. I love everything about your decorating ideas. I was wondering if you would mind telling me where you got the haunted house that plays music? I would love to invest in that for my grandson. Thank you!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I got it at Hallmark years ago. It's from the Snow Village collection. You can probably find them online too!
Lindsay at Lindsay'sSweetWorld says
I love how you've continued to use traditional fall colors for your fall décor… it seems like all of the other bloggers and home decorators are all using creams and beiges for their fall décor this year and that just doesn't say fall to me! I have to have some orange, yellow, and red in there or it just wouldn't be fall!

Can't get over the beauty of your house and all of your adorable decor!!! I wish I had a gorgeous house like that and all these cute little knick knacks! Definitely my style. Maybe when kids come in the mix!!! =]=]

I would Love to see how you store your decorations. I love adding decor to every room, but have trouble storing everything without piling everything into bins.
Mix and Match Mama says
I store them in bins in the attic. I do exactly what you said…I pile them in bins and then stack those in the attic. I wish I had a fancier system, but this seems to work every year.

very impressive, able to celebrate it with full reverence.. Jendela Kertas

Shay I love all your decorations for fall, those pumpkins by your door. Did you get those at hobby lobby too? I have to say I'm super excited Paula deens new cookbook out in time for fall. I just picked up my copy at costco today!

I change my entire downstairs 12 times a year…and upstairs 3 times a year. For September its a Fall/Football theme, so I have leaves and corn kernals in jars with candles. I have a huge wreath and of course, just about every football statue from Hobby Lobby. We decorate one piece of furniture with our alma matters stuff like poms, shakers, pictures from games, and little blocks that spell "SDSU". Then Halloween comes out, after that it is Thanksgiving…and its lots of gold and sparkle with leaves, pumpkins, turkeys, cornucopias and cute frames and signs. I also have a basket that sits in our living room year round, but I change the children's books in it to go with each seasonal theme. I change out all the candles, bathroom and kitchen towels, subway art and wreathes 12 times a year too. My husband thinks I am crazy, but I love all the change.
Heather says
Goodness, I just LOVE your mantel. Gorgeous decor, too. 🙂

LOVE your fall decorations and how festive your house looks! We don't have a lot of room so I don't decorate too much but I'm on the hunt for some cute pumpkins for decor. I think a trip to Hobby Lobby is in my future 🙂

Hi Shay! We are currently remodeling our kitchen. Do you mind sharing what color your island is? It looks like a shade of blue. Thanks so much! I love your blogs!!
Mix and Match Mama says
It's a blue grey combo we made from Sherwin Williams' paint. We kept having them mix it and add it white to get it to the shade we liked. Then, we had it "antiqued" black. I wish I had a specific color to give you, but it's a mix of 3 paints.
Kara Schletty says
Funny… I was just going to post a comment on how I like to your kitchen too! Do you know what color your white kitchen cabinets are and also what kind of countertop do you have?
