It’s my first Friday Favorites of 2016 and I’m pumped!
As always, I’m linking up with Narci, Erika and Andrea and sharing some of my favorite things with you. I haven’t done a Friday Favorites in several weeks…so there is lots to share!
Um, so when I saw these, I couldn’t resist…
…they’re PJ Salvage pajamas with Rome, Paris and London pics all over them.
I mean…my heart! Bad news…my pattern is already sold out because right now, all of their flannel pj sets are 33% off.
The good news is that there are so many other cute patterns still in stock right now!
Catherine has the pizza pair and they are super cute! These fit a little loose, so I wouldn’t worry about sizing up. They run very true to size.
Also…my heart still belongs to these darn Ugg slippers. As soon as I get home, they’re on my feet. And one last thing…
…if you’re new around here…this is how I get my messy/wavy hair. I call it my wet bun trick and it works like a charm. You can read all about it here. These are my favorite hair products to use:
Morroccanoil//Triple Sec//Hair Spray//BB Straight//Perfect Hair Day//Shampoo & Conditioner//Invisible Oil
And again, you can read about how I use each product here.
And while I was in those pajamas, I pained my nails this color…
That’s like so January, right? It’s this grey-sh lavender color that I picked up from Target. I think Essie hit the nail on the head with this one. Virgin Snow = January nails.
My sweet friend Brandee just had her second book published and it’s so cute! If you’re looking for a cute book to gift to a kiddo or to read to your kids, then this is it! Her first book O’Shea the Octopus teaches kiddos that it’s okay to be different and then this book, Jayde the Jaybird (both named after her kiddos) teaches kids how to overcome fear. I’m telling you, they’re both really good, both teach valuable lessons to kids, both have gorgeous illustrations and are both on repeat in our house.
She’s baaaaaack!
Sheaffer is back recapping The Bachelor and friends, it’s HYSTERICAL! Even if you don’t watch The Bachelor, you should still read her recaps every Wednesday morning. I’m telling you…she just has a way of recapping all of the craziness that is this show.
Two things I love in one picture! Earlier this week, I told you how I was reading the Bible all the way through in 2016…well, that’s The One Year Bible that I’m reading along with my favorite little reading light. I have several of these lights (I buy them off of Amazon) and keep them around the house for reading. Both are favorites of mine!
True story…
…I bought this shirt back in December and Nordstrom cannot keep it in stock. Every single time that it’s back in stock, it’s out of stock again by the end of the day. This henley blouse is perfect for dressing up or dressing down. It’s light, it’s not too tight, it’s like my favorite shirt right now.
Okay, right now, some patterns are 40% off (I know!) and others are full price.
Skirts, jeans, pants, even shorts…it just goes with everything. You can see the regularly priced shirts here and the discounted ones here. These shirts fit true to size.
Last but not least…
…it’s rhubarb season, so my Berry Cherry Rhubarb Cobbler is on my foodie blog today. Cozy up this weekend by the fire with a big bowl of this deliciousness!
Happy Friday friends!
xo

I got "virgin snow" #thatnametho in my stocking! I love it!
Lindsay Kingdon says
I'm going to have to buy that nail color – Essie wins again! And that's awesome that you are reading the Bible through in a year! Have a wonderful weekend!
~Maggie~ says
Just wondering how often you go get your nails done or go get a pedicure or do you always paint them yourself? I'm curious. ?
Mix and Match Mama says
I get a pedicure about 3 or 4 times a year but hardly ever get a manicure. I like polishing my fingers myself :).
Erika Slaughter says
I must mention…the wet messy bun trick does not work on all types of hair. The good news is it'll either work and you'll have great hair or you'll have some of the best laughs ever looking in the mirror. Unfortunately, I fell into the latter category. 🙂
kelly says
Haha! Me too Erika 🙂 my family had a chuckle!
Jen Besnett says
I completely agree!!! My favorite laughs are from insane morning hair trying to get a cute look like Shay!
Life as the Mrs. says
Haha this makes me laugh, because my fine hair doesn't do well, either, as much as I wish it did!
That Henley top from Nordstrom is super cute and totally not helping my no-spend January! I NEED it!
Tracy Stegall says
I've been meaning to comment that you have completely changed my hair routine. I have super curly hair so now I wash it at night put in whatever products I'm using at the time and put in the bun. When I wake up all I have to do is take down the bun, part my hair and blow dry it just for a few minutes to set it. I love it, thanks for the amazing tip!
Happylife38 says
I also have thick wavy hair and my result of the Shay-method is Diana Ross. When she has a bad hair day. I should be joining Motown when I dry it that way. Back to my arm-exhausting-big-round brush-using blowdrying and flatironing way.
K says
I have the same exact Uggs and love them! They are super comfy and I'd wear them to work if I could ?
Narci says
Such a cute nail color!! Also, what orecious Jammies!! Love it!!
kelly says
That's a perfect nail color for January! Oh and thanks for reminding me that sheaffer does her bachelor recap! They're too funny!
kimm atwood says
I got two pair of the PJ salvages pajamas before Christmas. The emoji and coffee ones !!!
Sheaffer {Pinterest Told Me To} says
Thanks for sharing the Bachelor post!!!!!! And that NYDJ blouse is darling on you and such a GREAT deal!!!!
Tara G. says
I love rhubarb!!
Jen Besnett says
It's official!! I NEED to paint my nails more often because I'm LOVING that color! I have been trying to decide if I want a journaling Bible or one year Bible. I just cannot decide and might just have to get both!
Leigh (Balancing By Faith) says
I need a little light like you have to read by….duh I have been using my cell phone for early morning reading and well that's not very smart!!
Dustie Day says
Erika, I think I'm
With you in that category! Shay, do you have thick hair? My hair is a hot mess if I don't wash and blow dry ?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes! I have thick hair and I never blow dry it (like ever). I always let it air dry!
Tiffany Davis says
Shay, do you paint your nails often? Or use special top and bottom coats. I've tried it all and can't keep a nail color for longer than a day. ?
Mix and Match Mama says
I paint my nails about every six days or so. I love Essie's gel top coat! It's my favorite!! And I use OPI's base coat!
Jess says
Hi Shay, did you feel like Essie's gel top coat helps with chipping and stengthening nails? Have you ever tried Seche vite? Looking for a new polish and heard good things about both.
Maggie C. says
What age range are Brandee Buble's books best suited for? Thinking about buying it for a friend's child's birthday but couldn't find an age range mentioned anywhere on Amazon. TIA!
Mix and Match Mama says
I would say that kids as young as three would like it and kids as old as 10 would too. All three of my kids like it and Kensington feels confident reading it.
Briana Runde says
I am reading through the Bible this year too. I have said many times "this is the year I am doing it" and then didn't end up doing it. This year, I WILL! 🙂 I need to order that little book light, because I am always reading in bed as my hubby is going to sleep.
Megan says
My HS mascot was the Jaybird!!! So fun. How cute would that book be to gift HS friend's kids!
Cait says
your pjs are amazing! seriously love your blog and your fabulous little family!
ari says
Good morning!! Will you share your thoughts on your apple watch?:))
Jessica Barshinger says
I'm going to try the hair trick….I predict I'll look like a hot mess tho!!! Lol!!!!!!! Love Friday favorites!!!!
Paige says
What size pj's did you get??? i pretty much order what you order ha! by the way my joes jeans are my FAVORITE JEANS EVER!!! thanks for that tip!!!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I ordered XS! You'll love them!!!
Jennifer Crowe says
Hi Shay! I am loving that virgin snow color 🙂 perfect for January for sure!!! Totally random Q – but how do you like your speck phone case?
Mix and Match Mama says
Love it! I drop my phone approximately 4000 times a day and it's always held up!
Aubrey says
Your pajamas are THE BEST! The nail color name is cringe-worthy, but the color is gorg. I have been all over the nail gel lately and I'm in love. They don't have as many colors as regular varnish, but my nails have never looked so nice.
Love on the Lake says
I literally just purchased the Pizza Pajamas instantaneously. Like I went, "OMG!", clicked your link, put them in my cart, checked out, confirmed it went through, and then came back. And then saw your note about not needing to size up (whoops) I guess I'll see how the medium fit and exchange for my normal small size if they're ginormous. But my point is, I was SO excited I didn't even finish reading your post before buying them and then coming back to finish LOL. Thanks for making my work lunch break an unexpected online shopping treat 😉
Lindsay at Lindsay'sSweetWorld says
That reading light is perfect and exactly what I've been looking for! I've been staying up later than the hubs to read lately, so this would be perfect to have!
dresselfamily.blogspot.com says
The pj's are so darn cute.. are they too hot to sleep in?.. maybe I'm weird but I like to sleep in pj's lol
Mix and Match Mama says
Andrew keeps it so cold in our house! I find them warm but not too hot!
Kelsey @ The Peacock Roost says
So excited for the Bachelor!! Love those pj's & that polish too!

I think I need those Pizza Pajamas!! I LOVE pizza!!!!!
Have a great weekend!!!!
Whitney says
Just ordered the Pink Cats PJ's to pick up at Nordy's on my way home from work tonight. I have been looking for the perfect PJ's! So excited!
chrissy castina says
Read this post this morning, and then happened to find "Virgin Snow" on sale at Ulta. Jackpot!
Maggie Eterno says
Completely not one of your favorite things listed, but Is that an apple watch?! I've been debating getting one. Do you love it? I also can't decide if I want the smaller or bigger. My wrists are pretty small…
Mix and Match Mama says
Um, I'm obsessed. The volume on my i-phone stopped working, so I took it to the Apple Store and they parked me next to the watch display for an hour while they fixed it…and I was totally convinced I needed one (those smart apple employees!). I know this sounds weird…but it totally makes me not look at my phone. It's freeing!
Maggie Eterno says
That's awesome! Did you get the 38mm or the 42mm?
Mix and Match Mama says
42mm!
Cassie {Hi Sugarplum} says
Two things: berry cobblers are my love language…seriously. My son is a July baby…blackberry season, right? So when I was pregnant with him, I made a from-scratch berry cobbler…THEN WENT IN TO LABOR BEFORE I COULD EAT IT! #canyoueven Even during my 18-hours of labor, I was telling Mr. SP…run home and grab that cobbler so I can have some as soon as this kid finally comes out!! #truth
Second thing, you have me so hooked on pj sets, I can't even tell you the obsession. Thank you. Or rather, I thank you, but Mr. SP may not. 😉 xoxo
Hannah Hardy says
I love that shirt you got! Looks like it is so flattering! I've been meaning to test out your hair routine to see if it works on my hair. My hair sounds like the opposite of yours, but I would LOVE it if it did work!
Bethany Parvin says
I am reading the The One Year Bible also! I love it! I downloaded the Kindle version and have been reading it on my lunch break. I am so excited about this goal for 2016!
Kim Santos says
Thanks for the tip on The One Year Bible, just placed my order!
Paige says
I just want to thank you for sharing the One Year Bible! I followed a reading list 4 years ago and did it for the first time since high school:) I have to say that I don't think I got as much out of it as I could have because I was always trying to figure out when to stop reading. I tried to follow an app last year but was lame and did not finish. I LOVE this bible…just like reading a book in that I don't have to pay attention to when I am "supposed" to stop. Thanks so much!! Looking forward to finishing this year:)
