Smith is six.


Today, our Smith William is SIX!
How can that be?!  These years just went by too quickly.  I wish I could take them all back and start over. #sigh
Our sweet Smith is such a little character.  He’s the perfect combination of boy and old man ;).  He’s all boy in that he always has grass stains on his knees, rocks in his pocket, and a ball in his hands.  He’s all old man in that he loves to wake up early, he loves any sort of deep conversation…you pick the topic, he’ll ask you a million questions and really be interested in what you have to say, loves wearing slippers around the house and he’s super practical.
Some Smith-isms from around our house lately:
Smith: Kensington, I don’t know why you want to go back to Disney World.  They’re just actors dressed up like princesses. 
Kensington: Whaaaaaaaa! Moooooooooom!  Smith says princesses aren’t real!!!

Andrew: Smith, why won’t you eat eggs?
Smith: Why would I eat anything that comes out of a chicken’s bottom?

(Y’all…I mean, when he says it like that…who can argue?!?!)

Kensington: Oh my goodness!  The Tooth Fairy turned the milk next to my bed pink when she took my tooth!
Smith: Mom probably just put food coloring in your milk.

#sigh

This is Smith.  And man oh man, we couldn’t love him more!


So, our big guy is six.

Smith…

likes to watch Wild Kratts
loves doing anything and everything with Nixon
loves to sit down and tackle a Lego project
keeps a very tidy room…he’s the neatest of all three kids
loves crunchy beef tacos the most (Texas boy!)
wants to talk about maps, the globe, and outer space a lot
loves archery and spending time in a tree stand with his dad
always has questions or comments about the Bible…I have to stay on my toes with him
loves basketball and baseball and can’t wait to play football
is up for any kind of sports camp
wants to learn how to play golf (that’s his big birthday present today!)
loves board games and card games (Uno champ right here!)
loves playing with his sisters and gets really upset when they don’t include him
has a major soft spot for Ashby…in his eyes, she can do no wrong
in his eyes, Kensington is always the one “who started it” when they get in trouble 😉
wants to play for the Yankees when he grows up
loves school and has met some really great buddies
can’t wait for me to let him walk home from school by himself (when he’s 18 he can…)
as of today, he’ll tell you he’s a mama’s boy…and I hope that never changes (my apologies to his future wife…I’m probably ruining him and making him a mess that one day you’ll have to undue…)

That’s our Smith.

Today is MLK Jr. Day (just like the day he was born…it happens every six years), so they don’t go to school.  Back in December when I asked Smith what he wanted to do for his birthday, he said he wanted to go to the Perot Museum with Nixon and Fount.  He said he wanted a dinosaur day (they have dinosaur bones at the Perot).  So…this is going to be a dinosaur day!  Over the weekend, we celebrated with our family at the restaurant of his choosing…Benihana’s…so, I’ll post pics of both birthday celebrations later in the week.  Right now, I’m off to kiss a six year old boy and spend the day with him and his buddies at the museum.

Happy birthday Smith William!  We love you so much!
