Happy Friday!
First of all, thank you so much for the sweet comments about Ashby yesterday. She, of course, was such a trooper and is home resting today. Your kindness does not go unnoticed. Thank you all so much for sending your love, encouragement and prayers.
My dad’s life verse has always been Isaiah 41:10, “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Well, one time before a procedure, Erika sent me that verse for Ashby and I immediately thought…how cool is it that God is going to strengthen Ashby with his “righteous right hand” when it’s her right hand that needs all the strength it can get? It’s now the verse I use to pray over her all the time.
Okay, like always, I’m linking up with Andrea, Erika and Narci and sharing my favorite things from the week. It’s a random assortment…kind of like my candy post from Wednesday :). But who doesn’t love a random assortment of favorite things? Enjoy your weekend!
First up…
…I’m giving all my love to Noonday Collection :). I know that so many of you shop Noonday and so I thought I’d throw it out there today as a favorite. My friend Jennifer gave me these bangles (probably as a thank you for cropping her out of that realllllly awful middle school picture!), and I just think they’re happiness on my arm.
Aren’t they pretty? If you don’t know about Noonday Collection or their mission, you need to read HERE. If you love to shop for a cause, THEN THIS IS YOUR KIND OF BRAND!
So, if you need to do a little Christmas shopping early, I think some Noonday Collection stuff (like my bracelets) would be an excellent choice!
Until a new crop of Rob Reiner/Nancy Meyers/Nora Ephron-like movies come out, I’m going to continue watching these classics over and over and over again…
This week, I’ve been on a When Harry Met Sally kick. I’ve turned it on just about every time I’ve sat down to work, which means, I’ve watched it all the way through four times. Here are just a few of my favorite things about this movie (feel free to comment with your own!!)…
1: Harry Connick Jr.’s music throughout
2: Meg Ryan’s hair
3: The leaves in New York
4: The snow in New York
5. All the Casablanca quotes
6: Billy Crystal’s face during that scene
7: The interviews with the older, married couples
8: The last interview
9: Everything is “on the side”
Oh goodness…I’m actually watching it again right now. Love. This. Movie.
Okay, so I’ve worn this navy dress twice since we’ve been home from China…and I love it! Hurry though because not all sizes are available. I bought it in navy in an XS but it comes in black and a wine color too. I wore it to church once and Andrew’s awards banquet in Missouri too. I really love it!
Hey mamas of littles, are you guys watching Spookley the Square Pumpkin? I’ve blogged about this Halloween show before, but I’m doing it again because I get to watch it through the eyes of Ashby and Madeley now. It’s on TV a lot right now (check your listings) and I’m sure it’s on demand and online too. It’s this sweet little cartoon about a pumpkin that’s different and the moral of the story is that it’s okay to be different. I love when my kids hear that :). Random favorite, but since my kiddos have watched it several times this month, I thought I’d throw it out there again. I found it years ago when Kensington and Smith were little and now, we’re watching it again. I love sweet holiday shows :).
And speaking of Halloween…
…today, I’m sharing all of my favorite Halloween treats! Friends…it’s almost here!! #icantbelieveit #wherehasoctobergone
If you need a little something for a party, your kids’ school or just because, click HERE to see all of my Wickedly Simple Halloween Treats.
And my final favorite this Friday…
…my new jeans. I pretty much wear jeans every single day of my life, so I’m always looking for a cute AND COMFY pair. I just bought these jeans that are slightly distressed and I could not love them more. Friends, they have just the right amount of stretch which I must have because…ain’t no one want to sit around in tight pants all day. #amen
Jeans//Tank//Flats//Top (the scarf is forever old but look at these BUFFALO CHECK ones I found! I heart buffalo check!!)
And…I just got my new black dress back there but it is the fall/winter version of the tank dress that you’ve seen me wear 250 times already. It comes in two colors and is so stinkin’ flattering. I’ll wear it soon and post a pic.
Three cheers for cute distressed jeans!
And…since we’re on jeans, these are my staples…
Distressed//Gray//Basic Skinny//Black
I know you guys have seen me in these jeans approximately 5 billion times…but it’s what I wear every day.
Okay, those are my favorite things this week. This weekend, we’re celebrating a little girl’s second birthday! I mean…how fun is that?! I wasn’t sure if we would be with her on her second birthday, so this is definitely something to celebrate!

Happy Friday, Shay! We’re all so happy to be here! Haha. I’ve been looking for a navy dress like that for some time now! It looks very comfortable. I would imagine that it would also look GREAT with a puffer vest once it gets really cold. I posted about a ridiculous deal that I got on one this past week. Hope you have a fabulous weekend! XO

That dress is so simple, but so cute! And I love your new jeans!!!! So thankful that Ashby’s procedure went so well yesterday. Prayers for an easy recovery day today!

Perfect timing with the black dress! I bought the Summer version and need a black dress for next weekend! XS still? Thanks! Great favorites. 🙂

When Harry Met Sally is my most favorite movie of all time! I especially love watching it at Christmastime! And this is so crazy, but the last New Years scene where Harry runs in and talks about how he wants to spend the rest of his life now with Sally is one I used to quote when I was ready for my husband to propose to me haha! And so when he did propose, he quoted part of that back to me!

Happy birthday to sweet Madeley! I love When Harry Met Sally, too. What other movies do you like that are similar? I have been dying to watch Father of the Bride, but can’t seem to find it anywhere, not even to buy on itunes. Thanks for blogging everyday, it’s one of the favorite parts of my day!
Mix and Match Mama says
I bought that one this summer on Amazon! I bought a used copy of the DVD!
Erika Slaughter says
I’m glad you mentioned Spookly. We usually watch every year but I haven’t seen it on yet. And I’m so glad Ashby did great yesterday. She’s such a trooper. 🙂
Wendy says
Did you get your normal size in the jeans? The website says to size up (which is what I did with my last pair of AG jeans), but a reviewer said to size down. Thanks for your help.
Mix and Match Mama says
I got my normal size and they fit like a glove. In my opinion, I would order your true size.
Holly says
Love those jeans! I will check out those bracelets too so cute!
Sarah says
So glad to hear Ashby’s surgery went well!! What a tough little lady!
Thanks for the show recommendation!! Mine are 4 and 3 and I’ve been looking for some kid-friendly Halloween movies and shows. I bought Hocus Pocus last weekend (more for myself, haha), but on the drive home realized that’s definitely not something we’ll be watching together this year lol.
Hope you have a wonderful weekend!!

We visited New York City this past weekend and ate lunch at Katz’s Deli where that scene was filmed. We were only rwo tables away from where it happened. Such a fun deli to eat at!

Blessings to you and your family as you celebrate a very special second birthday for Madeley! I can’t wait to hear all about her reaction to her birthday activities- she is just the cutest! I am sure it will be so much fun! I am glad everything went well for Ashby yesterday. Have a wonderful weekend. ????

So happy to hear Ashby is home resting, I know this has to be tough on everyone.
We LOVE Spookly the Square Pumpkin too! I’ve gone to record it twice now though and each time it’s really Mickey’s Halloween (which my middle isn’t mad about) so I need to see when it’s coming on again.
I LOVE that plaid shirt you are wearing from J Crew!
Kelly says
So thankful that Ashby is doing well. You were on my heart all day yesterday. Praying for a quick recovery so that she can enjoy Miss Madeley’s birthday! How special is that going to be! ?! Happy Friday, Shay!

If you love those dresses, then you will love this dress! It’s Lush and just like their classic blouse but in dress form 🙂 So so flattering and comes in so many fun fall colors!

I don’t know how this is possible because I love all Nora Ephron movies, but I haven’t seen When Harry Met Sally.
Lisa N says
It always makes my heart swell when you tell about what a trooper Ashby is after each procedure and so glad that is still holding true. Makes me feel silly for dreading yearly check ups:/
On another note….I finished the Good Wife yesterday, loved the series, but the ending left me so depressed. Even though it was so good to see a favorite player, I needed one more show of fun and happiness for all of them! What did you think?
Laci says
Happy Friday!! So happy to hear that Ashby was a trooper and home resting! Have a great weekend!

I’m clinging to the words of God through this time in my life and that verse went right through me. I wrote it in my journal and I’ll keep it in my heart. My husband and I have crossed 3 states to get a child that will keep him from entering the state and foster care. We have 2 children of our own and now will welcome this one. I’m confident that because I’ve read your blog and followed your journey that I have some wonderful advice that I will use for this situation. Thank you for sharing because we are learning. Pray for us and our wisdom and this child.
kathy says
P.S. I love Nancy Meyer films, too. I’ve seen Father of the Bride so much, it is probably ridiculous:) Right now, I’ve been watching The Intern. It has that same warm quality her films seem to have.
Kristin Beam says
I love your ‘jeans every day’ style! And I just got that jcrew plaid top too! Did you find it to run small?
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes, maybe just a tad!
Annalisa says
I have kind of a random comment, but I’m hoping some would appreciate! I always try to “cheapen” my Starbucks addiction, so yesterday when I went I ordered a Grande Blonde roast, with added Pumpkin syrup, and topped it with creamer and what do you get….?! Something that tastes almost like, if not better…a pumpkin spice latte! Give it a try!
Laura says
This is my go-to Starbucks order! 1 pump of pumpkin sauce is all I need – the normal PSL is too sweet for me, and this is half the price!
Kara says
Ok, so I’m admitting that I have never seen that movie. Can we still be friends? Looks like you guys are adjusting well with four kiddos. Love yall!
Lauren says
Hey girl! Always love your Friday favorite posts! I too share the same love for jeans!! Give me all the jeans, all day every day ???? ???? Quick question, how do you keep your black skinny jeans from fading in the wash? I feel like when I buy them they are good for a couple of washes and then slowly start fading!
Mix and Match Mama says
I have washed these too many times to count (I’m literally wearing them right now!) and they’re still very black. I know they’re pricier…but I think the fabric and color are a part of that. Worth every penny!

My son used to watch Spookley the Square Pumpkin when he was a little guy. He’s 4.5 now. We adopted him at birth and he has Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Sensory Processing Disorder and ADHD. School has been SO hard and he seems so different from other 4.5 year olds. It can be so hard! Thank you for reminding me of this cute cartoon! It really is a great reminder that it’s okay to be different. Our little family will have to have a movie night soon! Happy Friday!
Angela Ellingson says
I just watched When Harry Met Sally a few weeks ago when I was on a Meg Ryan movie kick. We watched Spookly several times last year after you mentioned it. It’s so sweet! So glad everything went as well as possible for Ashby. Praying for pain relief and great progress. And happy birthday Madeley! So happy she made it home in time!
Jennifer Jackson Linck says
I remember watching Spookley The Square Pumpkin with my son when he was just an infant. Now he’s 4.5! We adopted him at birth and he has Childhood Apraxia of Speech, Sensory Processing Disorder and ADHD. We’ve had such a hard week with school struggles. Thanks for reminding me about Spookley. It’s a great reminder that it’s okay to be different. I see a family movie night in our future! Happy Friday!
Lexie says
I am SO INCREDIBLY GLAD to see you mention Noonday! Their line basically turns me into the heart eye emoji. They have a set of Adoption Bangles that are beautiful and the full price of them goes to help families adopt…I have gifted several sets and the money went straight to my friends who are trying to bring home their second baby.
Julie Clark says
You must love Fever Pitch, right? Red Sox aren’t my team, but I love the movie and had to watch it before the playoffs. So happy Ashby’s procedure went well. Happy Birthday to Madeley!!
