It’s my favorite link up of the year! It’s Christmas Home Tour Day!
(Insert me singing and dancing really loud…to Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas is You.)
Every other Tuesday, we link up with Andrea and show and tell you something and this one is always my favorite because I love looking through the link up at other people’s decorations. I am such a sucker for twinkle lights and Christmas tress. They just make me happy. So, I’m going to first show you some pics of my house this holiday season, and then, I’m going to go through the link up and see yours too. Merry Tuesday friends!
This year, I’m starting our little tour from the backdoor instead of the front. I can never figure out if the lighting is better at night or during the day when it comes to Christmas lights…so, there are a variety here today. We added some lights to the kids’ mudroom area. They LOVED it. Just a strand of lights and some Command hooks and my kids think it’s something really special 😉 .
A cozy little tree in my office.
The big plaid candles from Pottery Barn were one of my favorite things this year. They smell like pine.
We bought our little Advent house in Belgium years ago. Every morning, my kiddos check for candy. (And my friend Amanda made several of our cute signs this year too!)
The most precious hand prints in the world.
The little train at the house on the right goes round and round 24/7. That is Smith’s favorite thing.
Cocoa mugs for everyone!
Those little foot prints.
A German restaurant…because if you’ve read this blog longer than about four seconds, you know that my very favorite food in the world is German food 😉 .
Williams-Sonoma comes out with a new plate every year to add to their Christmas collection. This year, was this Santa plate. I love it because his mug says S (for Santa…or Shull).
I heart my mercury trees. I put strands of lights under each of them to make them glow.
A strand of lights in a big jar with ornaments…why does that make me so happy?!
So, this year, we needed six stocking holders, so…I bought the individual iron stocking holder letters from Pottery Barn and spelled out Joyful (because our initials spell out ASKSAM and I didn’t want to look at Ask Sam all month long 😉 .). Well, they came but when we put them in the garland, they were too dark. So, Andrew spray painted them gold…but they still didn’t pop. So then, he spray painted them red with a little sparkle on top and I LOVE THEM! So, if you want them too…they are the Pottery Barn letters, but you have to paint them. The stockings are Pottery Barn Kids.
For my birthday this year, my grandparents gave me this elf. He’s plugged in and moves his little arms back and forth all day like he’s working. I LOVE HIM!
What’s that under the tree you ask? Kensington made a present for Madeley and wrapped it in a scarf and put it under the tree. It’s been there now for two weeks. Who knows what’s inside?!
A strand of lights in our room makes everything a little more festive.
My sheets are plaid flannel. Basically, it’s a miracle that I ever get out of bed. #theyaresocozy #ilovethemsomuch
A little tree upstairs.
I have about 300 Pottery Barn Christmas pillows 🙂 .
Kensington’s tree…
…totally her.
Smith’s tree.
Madeley and Ashby’s tree.
Well, that concludes this year’s Christmas home tour. Thanks for coming over! If you had toured in person, my house would have smelled like a Christmas candle and Michael Buble’s Holiday station on Pandora would have been playing. Just sayin’.
Lots of love from my home to yours!
Leslie Z. says
I didn’t think your home could get anymore beautiful but then you decorated it for Christmas. I’ve been on a mission for a year (since your last years post) to find those “Tis the Season” and “Jingle all the way” signs, but no such luck. I’m also loving seeing that Madeley stocking up on the mantle! Everything looks amazing.
I shared my Christmas decor today too!

I’ve been waiting for the right lighting + a clean house + an empty house to take my photos of our 2016 Christmas decor and, well, that’s like the “perfect storm” that hasn’t happened yet. Hopefully this week…
I also have a Christmas pillow addiction. 🙂
In the meantime, here’s our 2015 Christmas Home Tour…

Your library / formal living room just looks so cozy! I’d love to curl up and read a good Christmas book there!!
Kelly says
I agree!!
Meredith says
I love everything! We recently moved to Japan and even though we had to downsize by almost 1400 sqft, 8 still brought all 8 tubs of Christmas decor!!! I used to use the stocking holders too, but then I spoke with my cousin who is an ER doc and he told me about a horrible head injury from a kiddo pulling on the stocking and it falling down! I never would of thought if that, so FYI maybe try to secure them somehow. Like I said, complete fluke but just thought I would share!
Allyson says
We have the same feelings about mercury glass! Heart. Eyes.
Christi S says
Ok…so…what’s the trick to get the lights in the vase with ball ornaments to light up? I thought you would need to plug the stand if lights in, no? I love the Santa mugs! They remind me of my grandparents mugs when I was a child.
Mix and Match Mama says
They are plugged in! The cord is coming out of the back of the jar and plugged in behind the furniture!
Angela says
They sell battery operated Christmas lights strands. They have a little square battery pack attached to the end of the lights!! All craft stores usually have them!

Simply gorgeous!
Jenna says
I was wondering if you would consider doing a post about storing/putting away Christmas decor? Like you mention, I LOVE having it out, but I begin dreading the putting away. I have Christmas pillows too – how do you store them? I wanted to get all Christmas bedding for our room and decided against it because it seemed like one more thing to store – so we all settled for flannel sheets. 🙂 I also love the idea of the mugs and plates, do you store in your butlers pantry? Or do they get packed away with Christmas decor?? Help me organize my Christmas crazy! 🙂
Love your blog!
Mix and Match Mama says
Storing it is half the battle, right?! Yes, I store all of the mugs/plates and such in my butler’s pantry. I store the bedding in a closet and everything else is stored in bins in the attic.
Jenna says
Thank you! I think I should take some time this year and get a decent system going – might put the process at ease.

I am surprising my dad by making bierochs from scratch this Christmas eve. (My German grandma’s recipe). I bet you are one of the few that know what that is. I still wish for her watermelon honey kuchen and her hot fruit soup. I never did learn those and of course she never used a recipe. Blessing to you and yours this Christmas season.
Stephanie Morgan says
I always love when your share your home with us. You have great style – and Christmas decorations are the best!

The plate from William Sonoma, did you buy them in a pack of 4? I couldn’t find how to buy one individually.

No, I bought them individually. This year, I just bought the two new ones.
