Happy Monday!
It’s the last week of April…which for me, means one thing…SUMMER IS RIGHT AROUND THE CORNER!
I tend to get summer fever and fall fever BIG TIME. Which means that I’m ready for summer in May and fall in August ;).
We had a fun little weekend…so here are some pics to prove it!
On Thursday, I dropped off kiddos at school and then headed out to Nashville to be a part of the Go Wild Planners Conference. My favorite friends kept me company at the airport: coffee and a book 🙂 . And PS: this is that Lush maxi dress from like three years ago that is the best little plane outfit because it’s comfy, cozy and transitions to night! (With that denim jacket I wear on repeat.)
I sat down in my seat on the plane and guess who I was sitting by??? Olympic Gold Medalist Michelle Carter!! She won a gold this last year in shot put. SHE WAS SO SWEET! I had a total fan girl moment because as you know, I’m Olympic obsessed. She could not have been nicer! My kids were so jealous :).
So, I landed and made my way to the Gaylord Opryland Resort. I checked in, did some work in my room and then met up with my friend Sam (who works with Erin Condren) for dinner in the hotel…
After a yummy sushi dinner, I came back to my room and called it an early night. The next morning, I woke up and got ready to speak. My friend Annie lives in Nashville and she sent over one of her friends to do my hair and makeup…
Her name is Kelley and we had the BEST morning chatting! She was so nice!!
After that, I was ready to head down to one of the convention centers for my session…
All dolled up and ready to go! My dress was so comfy (I wore it on the flight home with sandals and that denim jacket and then straight to my kids’ carnival at school). I know it will be on repeat this summer!
The sweet ladies at Go Wild asked me to do a 45 minute Q&A about blogging, food, adoption, family and of course, how I plan. THEY COULD NOT HAVE BEEN NICER! There were 700 women plus the Go Wild team in the room and they blew my sandals off with their kindness.
Such a fun morning! I cannot say enough nice things about this whole planning community. They are amazing women!
After I spoke, I headed straight back to the airport and flew home.
I landed and drove straight to my kids’ school to meet them at their carnival. I only took one picture while I was there (of Ashby bowling!). I think we were having too much fun for pics. They had all sorts of inflatable bounce houses/obstacle courses outside and then games inside too. It was a fun night!
On Saturday morning, we were so excited to finally see Disney’s Born In China! We have been watching the trailers on TV and anticipating this day for months! The movie was short (only about 70 minutes), so it was easy for everyone to sit through. My only word of warning would be that this is about nature and therefore, the food chain is a part of the film. If you think that might upset your kids, then be warned.
I took this pic before the movie started…all of my peeps lined up ready to watch! K is way on the other side of Andrew. The gang was all there and excited!
Ashby was SUPER pumped!
And then, we came home and got ready for Catherine’s birthday party at my mom’s house. The timing was PERFECT because Nordstrom had asked me earlier in the month if I would chat about pajamas for Mother’s Day (because I’m pretty sure I suggest PJs as a gift for the ladies in your life FOR EVERY HOLIDAY!), so it was excellent timing.
Look at my cute PJs I bought for the night! They’re PJ Salvage (which you guys know how much I love!). These PJ sets even come with a cute little face mask. They come in 5 different fun patterns….
…and what I love most about them is that they’re LIGHT. I don’t want to sleep in heavy pajamas during the spring and summer.
I paired them with my favorite Ugg slippers 🙂 .
I took a pic with my biggest girl as she climbed into the car and we headed off to Lovie an Papa Jay’s house. Love this girl!
And there is the birthday girl!! Catherine’s actual birthday is on the 29th, so we celebrated just a bit early…but it was FUN!
Samuel and Madeley playing at Lovie’s in their pjs too!
Lovie’s five grand babies!
My family is always such a good sport! Even Grandmother showed up looking fabulous in her pajamas ;).
I love these ladies so much! Three of my favorite mamas/cousins/sisters in the world! My mom made us breakfast for dinner and it was SO GOOD!
My biggest love and my littlest one too.
Just a bunch of shenanigans as we watched Catherine open her gifts!
#photobombed
And a neighbor came over and took our pic in the yard. Love these people so much!
Whew! So, that was our super fun weekend!
If you haven’t thought about Mother’s Day yet (or graduation gifts!) for the ladies in your life, sleepwear is like my favorite thing to gift! I’m always giving pajama sets, robes, blardigans and slippers :). And the best part about gifting them from Nordstrom is that if you accidentally pick the wrong size/style, it’s easy for the recipient to return and/or exchange.

Happy Monday, friends!
See you tomorrow!!

Hi Shay. Love Love the party pics – what a great idea!! You have one special family. I have been meaning to ask you to please consider doing a post on blogs you read daily/weekly. If not that many, perhaps you can just add it to a FF post. There are so many bloggers out there and I would love to see who you follow, other than the friends you link to often. Perhaps you follow someone specific for inspiration on faith, someone else on fashion or home decor/organizing ideas. Would love to hear your thoughts 🙂 If you have done a post on this before, please can you share the link? Have a great week ahead!
Mix and Match Mama says
I love that idea, Bernadine!! Thank you :)!

This is random and you may already be aware, but this week is National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW). Your story of having biological and adopted children after going through an infertility journey has provided encouragement and hope. As one of the 1 in 8 women who is struggling with infertility, I just wanted to say thanks for being an advocate and example of hope for those walking these steps 🙂
Caroline says
Love the theme family party! Also I just made your “Sweet & Sour Grilled Chicken Tacos” over the weekend. They were such a great springtime meal! Full of flavor but nice a light – perfect for my husband and I to enjoy outside in the warm weather. 🙂 Thanks!

Jessica here from Team KIT. We also presented (on Saturday) at Go Wild. Just wanted to let you know how very much we enjoyed your session! Your candid and upbeat Q and A was inspiring and refreshing! Although we were already big followers we are anxious now to dive into your cookbook offerings! Anything to get the kiddo’s excited about preparing and eating healthy foods! Thanks for being a part of the planner community!
Jeanie says
Looks like a super fun party! Catherine and I share a birthday, so happy birthday to you, Catherine.

I live in Waco but was at a gymnastic tournament at North Waxahachie High School on Saturday. We ate at the Mellow Mushroom. Being a blog stalker I kept looking for your family or the many friends of yours there. Would have been so excited to see one of you. Felt like a silly high schooler and I am 66 years old. I do need to come back and spend some time there. I have not seen that you have come to the Silo’s at Magnolia but don’t miss The Findery or Spice shopping when you come. Thanks for letting me follow you! P.S. The pizza was great and offered plenty of gluten free selections for my daughter.
Cathy says
Are your uggs cactus flower color? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
My color isn’t in stock right now. It’s a pinky-purple color.
