Birthday Week Giveaways!


Happy happy happy Monday!

Here’s the deal…on Wednesday, I turn 36.  So…I decided it would be boring to celebrate alone, and thus, I’m going to celebrate this week with YOU!

On Monday, Wednesday and Friday this week, I’m going to partner up with Nordstrom and talk about some of my favorite fall finds there (some great things to get us through the holidays too!) and every one of those days, I’m going to give one lucky winner a $600 Nordstrom gift card.  So, you have THREE chances to enter and win.  Enter on Monday, I will announce on Tuesday.  Enter on Wednesday, I will announce on Thursday.  And enter on Friday, I will announce the following Monday.  Three days, three birthday posts and three winners get a $600 Nordstrom gift card.  That’s fun, right?!  If you don’t win one day, just enter again the next 🙂 .

I love so many of the brands at Nordstrom, but you’ve probably noticed that I tend to buy a lot from two of their “house” brands: Caslon and Halogen.  They’re always reasonably priced, made from good quality materials and come in a variety of colors (and you know me, when I find a top I love, I want it in several colors).  These brands are only found at Nordstrom, so if you want ’em, you gotta go there to get ’em!  This was the perfect post for Nordstrom to sponsor because I truly love these brands!  Here are just a few of my faves right now…

This top.  It’s like a terrycloth sweatshirt, but my favorite part is the back…

This is one of those great Halogen tops that come in a variety of colors too.  I bought black and white, but there are several others.  Love a comfy top with jeans for the day.  Speaking of which…

…this one is the same way!  So soft, so easy to wear and comes in multiple colors.  I love it topped with a plaid scarf for fall 🙂 .

And then one more house brand I always love…

 

…Trouvé.  This cute little top I showed you a few weeks ago is from them and wouldn’t it be perfect for a holiday party?  With those red heels, of course!

When you find brands that work, they just work, right?!  It’s easy for me to partner up with Nordstrom and talk about things that I already buy and love…and I love their house brands!!

So, my actual birthday is on Wednesday, but this past Saturday night, my mom and dad hosted a little dinner for me at their house.  Here are a few pics of our fun night…

First up, they gave Madeley the cutest little tricycle for her birthday.  She was over the moon!!

This little guy was solo 😉 .  His mom and dad were out of town, but we sure did enjoy having him there to celebrate!!

Of course, Frenchie came to the party too.  No one feel sorry for Poppy…I guarantee you, she loved the few hours of quiet back at home 🙂 .  For a dog that likes to sleep 21 hours a day, she has been playing non-stop since Frenchie’s arrival.

My mom knows me well!  She made chicken enchiladas and stuffed bell peppers for dinner and then blackberry cobbler for dessert.  Yum!

And speaking of knowing me well, my family gave me candles, Boston Red Sox stuff, and then both Halloween and Christmas decorations…because, that’s all so ME!

(And psssst: I love, love, love my dress!  It’s just an easy little jersey dress you can wear year around.  I bought it in black, but it comes in other colors too.)

I love my people…

…every single one of them 🙂 .

And just like that, we celebrated the big 36.  My uncle and grandmother told me it made them feel old 😉 .

    Happy, happy birthday! Mine was Oct. 2! Fall birthdays rock — my mama always sends me something Halloween-ie too!     I have been reading your blog for a long time and finally come to realize you are amazing and have a true gift! You not only have your own businesses, run a house with four kids and two dogs, make dinner every night, plan family trips well in advance and get to the gym every day all on 5 hours of sleep and look fabulous.
    I know i am a planner but this is exceptional….please blog about your tricks and tips. I am working mom of just 2 and am exhausted (coffee is not enough) and cant always work out and hardly can make dinner. You have it so put together you are clearly doing something so right…keep it up and happy birthday! Hope to hear your secret words of advice to us moms who just are struggling to make it run half a smoooth as you…maybe this is your next book idea?!

    Happy Birthday! We celebrated my son’s birthday this weekend (it’s Tuesday) with ribs, potato salad, and baked beans. His choice. He’s not much of a cake fan so we had pear, persimmon and cranberry pie. I love fall fruits. It’s definitely my favorite season as well.
    Your mom’s house is beautiful. It looks so cozy and inviting. A tour and some decorating tips would be fun (if she’s okay with that).
    My favorite side dish is a cranberry jello salad we make every year. It’s hard to choose because I love all the sides but I could easily skip the turkey. We had thirteen wild turkeys on our lawn last week. They are huge! They just wandered around the neighborhood. I have no idea where they came from or where they went but they show up from time to time and wander around.

    I have an off-topic question, but I hope you will see this and answer. 🙂 I’ve noticed that sometimes you wear your Apple watch and sometimes you don’t. Any particular reason you don’t wear it every day? I think I want one soooo badly, but it is an investment and I’m trying to decide if I really want it and will use it or if I just like the idea of something new. I have a fitbit that tracks my steps, exercise, etc. and I know the Apple watch does that, too, but if there were times I wouldn’t choose to wear it, I’m not sure it would be worth it in the end. Thoughts? Thanks a bunch! Also, your blog brightens many of my days. I have 3 children and lost my oldest one earlier this year (he was 22) and your little corner of the internet sure does make me smile. <3

      I wear it most days, but sometimes, I just want to wear my other watches (if I’m going to church, out to dinner and want to be a bit dressier than the Apple watch), but when I get home, I always switch back to my apple watch.
