It’s What’s Up Wednesday!
Once a month, my friends Mel, Sheaffer and I host this link up where we share some random and fun stuff that’s up with us today. If you blogged WUW too, make sure you link up at the bottom of the post! Every month, we answer these questions…
…in our What’s Up Wednesday posts!
It’s been a fun month!! I can hardly believe that spring is in full swing and we’re almost to April! BRING ON SUMMER, right?! It’s so close, I can almost taste it!
Here’s a little look at what I’m up to today…
1: WHAT WE’RE EATING THIS WEEK:
Did you see my TACO TUESDAY post yesterday?! Friends! You have to check it out!! I have so many yummy and easy recipes that your whole family will love!
Plus, you and your kiddos need to make these this week…
…Resurrection Rolls! This is such a fun, and yummy, visual way to share the message of Easter with kids.
2. WHAT I’M REMINISCING ABOUT:
I’d be lying if I didn’t say this…
…our spring break Disney vacation. Sigh. It was just so much fun. To see the recap of our land & sea vacation (meaning we went to Disney World and on a Disney Cruise), click HERE.
3: WHAT I’M LOVING:
Hi, my name is Shay and I just discovered…
…Larabars. Um, yeah, clearly I’m behind. Until now, I have not been a huge “bar” fan because they leave a funky taste in my mouth. Am I the only one? They start off good but then they quickly turn to yuck after I’m done. I have been snacking on these bars though and am a huge fan! Plus, the ingredient list is always just like four or five things…that I actually understand. No weird stuff. Not sponsored, just discovered and now I love. Hahahaha! I’m so behind.
4: WHAT WE’VE BEEN UP TO:
Well…Andrew has been snowboarding in Canada since Sunday morning, and today, he’s coming home and we’re so pumped!! We’ve been busy doing our norm (school, speech, sports, repeat), but it’s not nearly as much fun without him around.
Ashby’s next procedure. It’s just always hanging over our heads, you know?
6: WHAT I’M WORKING ON:
All the stuff outside 🙂 …
I love, love, love to work outside during the spring and summer (or until it’s too hot). I turn on my French music, bring out my coffee or tea along with my MacBook and enjoy working from outside. It just makes me so happy.
7: WHAT I’M EXCITED ABOUT:
BASEBALL STARTS TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here I am at the very last game of last year…
…and tomorrow, you will find me on my couch at 3:00 ready to watch the first game of this year!! I am so pumped!!! I MISS baseball so much during the off season. Bring. It. On.
My March Book Review was up Monday…
…you can see it HERE. I read some great books, friends! Make sure you read the comment section of the post for other recommendations too!
Andrew convinced me to start binge-watching this…
…and I really like it!!! I am watching it on the Showtime app right now. I have always been a fan of Mandy Patinkin…but oh my goodness, this just makes me love him even more!
9: WHAT I’M LISTENING TO:
Starting tomorrow, baseball, baseball, baseball!
This is my uniform, friends…
And let me break it down for you…
#1: My light little Stella & Dot earrings. Mine are older, but they’re very similar to their Illusive Hoop Earrings.
#2: OPI polish in Alpine Snow. My fave.
#3: These fun bracelets from Stella & Dot! They are the Anda Strength, Nomad Stretch and Anda Courage.
#4: This super cute necklace that looks like two, but it’s actually only one. With that pop of turquoise, it’s the perfect little layering piece. Online it says green, but it’s VERY turquoise.
#5: The perfect white tee.
#6: The perfect layering tank to wear underneath.
#7: The perfect denim shorts.
#8: My favorite Tory Burch sandals
I also loved all four dresses/rompers I wore on our Disney Cruise!! I can’t wait to keep wearing them this spring and summer…
11: WHAT I’M DOING THIS WEEKEND:
All of it.
And I would love for you to do it too!!!
If you’re local, please come visit us at First McKinney!! We would love to have you!
12: WHAT I’M LOOKING FORWARD TO NEXT MONTH:
Just more outside stuff.
I’m ready for eating dinner on the patio, playing outside, bike rides, long walks…all of the outside stuff!
13: WHAT ELSE IS NEW:
I think that’s it! 🙂
Bonus question this month: What’s your favorite Easter tradition?
I just love our Easter Egg-stravaganza at church!! It is such a fun time of community and outdoor activities. From face painting to bounce houses, food trucks and more…it is so much fun!!
Okay! That’s What’s Up Wednesday today! If you blogged too, make sure you link up below. I hope you guys have a fantastic day!! xo
Charmaine Ng | Architecture & Lifestyle Blog says
I’ve actually never tried Larabars – or RXbars, or, well, a lot of the bars on the market. They’re so expensive in Hong Kong! I need to take your word for the Larabars though, they sound heavenly. 😀

Absolutely love chocolate chip cookie dough larabars and chocolate peanut butter! I keep some on my car if I need a snack while on the go. Also, where did you get your patio furniture? Love love love

sarah ellen livingston says
What size did you order in that red dress? It says it runs large? Thanks shay!
Mix and Match Mama says
xsmall
Penny says
Yum larabars! Personally my 2 favorite are peanut butter chocolate chip (microwaved for 10 seconds-tastes like a warm and gooey no bake cookie!!) and mint brownie chip (kept in the fridge- don’t worry it won’t get hard and break your teeth I think it makes it more “desserty” when it cold!)
Lea Culp says
Well, Shay, I smiled all the way through this post! What a beautiful family and I didn’t know you were from McKinney. We love McKinney and have a dear, dear friend that sings at The Pantry once a month and we have been to the downtown area to hear him and absolutely love the area. Sure wish I enjoyed baseball more because my husband sure does enjoy it, but I can take it or leave it. :o(( Have a wonderful Easter with those precious kiddos! Wishing you sunshine and lollipops!
Sonia says
Favorite Easter Tradition – giving my babies (17 &10) Easter baskets, and dressing up for church….but my favorite favorite part is seeing the church house getting filled up with so many faces that we have to have overflow areas set up!! I love love love seeing so many people celebrating Christ!
Angela Ellingson says
I love the chocolate chip cookie dough Larabars! So excited for outside everything myself. As my kiddos said, up here in South Dakota, “winter and spring are having an argument.”
Becky says
?? Love it. Winter & spring are having an argument in Michigan too
Melissa says
The Cherry Pie larabar is yummy too (and I’m funny about bars as well) ; )
Lindsey says
After doing Whole30 twice, Larabars and RX bars are a staple in my house. My kids even enjoy them!
Lindsay D. says
You’ll have to try the Kind bars. Those are my favorite! Same as the Lara bar all ingredients you can read/know what they are no icky aftertaste. My favorite is the almond with coconut!
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick says
You rock shorts and a tee like no one else, friend! That Inspired Chick
Erin Chavez says
Yay for Homeland! My husband made me binge watch it a few years and it is my favorite show!
Anna says
The Banana chocolate Chip Lara Bars are the BEST…they’re a “limited edition” so I stock up every time I go to the store….afraid that they’re going to be gone next time! haha
Beth Jensen says
I am so pumped for the SOX! We are going to Vegas for spring break on Easter, but heading to Baltimore, Boston, and DC to watch those SOX this year!!! Just means a different cute ball cap for each right?
cassie {hi sugarplum} says
So much great stuff!!! Love those sweet little Easter faces!
Kristen says
Hi Shay, do you find the Tory Burch sandals run true to size? Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
I do!!
Kayla Bruce says
Jealous of your weather that’s warm enough to sit on the deck! We had frost last night here in WI. Also, have you heard of Carla Bruni?? She’s a French singer, and I’ve been loving listening to her Spotify playlist!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yes!!!! I love her!!
Meg says
I’ve loved Larabars for years now ?. My other favorite are the Rx bars and they tend to have a better protein to sugar ratio…the also have kid Rx bars ?. This post made me so excited for warmer weather!!!
Kelly says
Homeland is SO good! Picking up the most recent season today from our library ?
Julie says
My daughter just got braces. What is that toothpaste that you use? I remember you wrote about it, but can’t find it now.
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s HD something from Amazon. It comes in mint or bubblegum!
ayrgalaxy says
I can’t wait for summer either! I’m so over this winter. And I feel the same about many bars, all the ones I’ve tried are good but they leave a waxy feeling in my mouth and I don’t like it. I should probably try these and the RX bars
Mary says
Can you tell me what color and size you bought for the layering tank to wear under the white t shirt. Some of the reviews online for the layering tank state that it runs very small.
Mix and Match Mama says
I always buy smalls. I wouldn’t think you would need to size up.
Tish Ferry says
Don’t you just LOVE baseball season?!! And we are SUPER EXCITED for summer, long days, and pool time! I’m gonna have to try those Larabars! Any favorites you recommend?
Simply Tish
lauren says
Im about to go buy some Tory Burch Sandals, obviously a bit pricey, do you think they are worth it? Im obsessed 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m on my third summer with them and they’re still in really great shape!!
Chrystianne Santos says
Whole30 introduced me to Larabars. You have to try Chocolate Chip Peanut Butter (although not Whole30 compliant) because it is DELICIOUS! Also, what color of the Tory Burch Miller sandal are you wearing in the picture? Buying a pair for Spring Break next week and I am torn between “makeup” and “sand patent.” Thanks Shay! 😉
Mix and Match Mama says
Sand Patent! I love them because they can get wet (since they’re patent!). This will be my third summer with them and they’re still my FAVORITE!
Rachel Seibold says
Another delicious protein bar that several health bloggers rave about, and I love as well, are the Good 2 Go bars. Our Costco sells them at a discount or you can order them online. They are gluten free, naturally flavored, and no preservatives!
My family is planning a Disney Cruise for next year. I need to email you about planning our trip!
Biby Chacon says
I love Lara bars. I haven’t tried the coconut cream pie, but I do love the apple pie ones. I am also so excited for baseball to start! I was actually just in Boston and took a Tour of Fenway Park. The tour was great, really infromative, and a great experience.
Elizabeth says
My husband and I just finished the first two seasons of Homeland! We LOVED it!!! I would binge watch it, but he needed a little break because it’s so intense!!! I think you’ll love it! I can’t wait to dive back in!
We’re big fans of Larabars too!!! 😉 Happy Easter!
Julie says
Loved your Disney recaps. I’ve never cruised but it’s on my bucket list…and a Disney cruise would be even better!
Nicole says
Lemon, Coconut and Carrot Cake Larabars are my favorite!! I’m in a lunch rut, what have you been eating lately? 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
I made myself chicken salad on Sunday afternoon and ate that Tuesday and today for lunch. Lunch is hard.
Nicole says
Lunch is hard! I usually rotate my go to salads (which are usually your recipes)! I love your strawberry quinoa, southwest quinoa and cranberry blue cheese and green pasta salads. 🙂 What’s in your chicken salad?
Mix and Match Mama says
I typically make my grape chicken salad! Recipe on blog!! It’s so easy!!
Nicole says
Oops, greek** not green pasta salad. ?
Shelly says
Being outside this time of year is my absolute favorite! And yes to baseball season…it’s my favorite!
Brandy says
*Larabars: YUM!
*OMGosh…Homeland! My husband and I binged all seasons on Hulu, then ordered Showtime so we could watch the current season. It is so good… we love Mandy Patinkin, as well!! Still feeling the effects of the binge, lol!
*Have the TB sandals in the sand patent, too! They’re the perfect summer sandal…can dress up or down, and they go with everything.
*These jeans shorts are in my cart now! Is the cuff sewed? I mean, could I roll them down if I find them to be too short for my liking? (I’m from Colorado and so desperate for warm weather! We had snow yesterday, so maybe putting shorts in my shopping cart is a bit premature?!? Haha…)
Karen Ivy says
Shay, I would love to hear your favorite things about the Red Sox… Maybe it is just me?? I really want to get into baseball… I love going to a game, but it just doesn’t hold my attention… What are the things that makes you love this sport/team?
Karen Ray Costa says
Hey Shay, how do you watch the Sox? We cut the cord on cable and I’m wondering how to stream it…
Mix and Match Mama says
On NESN through the MLB package I buy through Direct TV 🙂
Alyssa Gordon says
I literally just finished listening to the story behind Lara Bars, then read your post and laughed aloud! NPR’s podcast, How I Built This, recently interviewed Lara, and it is super interesting! It is one of my favorite podcasts 🙂
Danielle Garavaglia says
Have you tried RX Bars? They have become my new favorites! The ingredient list is right on the front:) Love anything easy and healthy! Happy Easter Shay!
Julie says
MN girl, but heading back to Boston to catch a game in July. We took our kids last year, this year just my husband and I are going. I love New Balance shoes(headquarters are in Boston) and I purchased a super cute pair of red shoes that say Boston on the side and on the bottom. I love them.
https://www.joesnewbalanceoutlet.com/product/wzantb-v3/wzantfw3
I am also a huge baseball fan. We are on Spring Break here and plan to watch baseball coverage of Opening Day all day long!!!!
Meredith says
I am contemplating biting the bullet on the Tory Burch sandals. I have been eyeing them for awhile. I am on my 3 or 4th season with my jack Rodgers and I don’t want them to feel left out. Ha! Nothing better than a cute sandal!
Kelly says
Lara Bars!! Cashew Cookie only has 2 ingredients:). Sitting out on our deck by the pool is one of my very favorite things but spring is slow to come to PA this year. We had snow on the deck up until 2 days ago! I feel about college football they way you do about baseball, those months in between are LONG!
Lindsay @ Lindsay's Sweet World says
Oh girl, I discovered Larabars about six months ago and I swear I have literally eaten one every single day since then. Try the Mint Chocolate Chip or the Banana Chocolate Chip ones… you’ll never want another flavor again! They are divine.
Haley Sulka says
I LOVE lara bars because of the clean ingredients, but recently discovered their Nut & Seed style bars that are muchhhh lower in sugar than the chewy ones with dates. You should try them, I talked about them in my blog: https://www.haleysulka.com/single-post/2018/02/Whats-Up-Wednesday
Hopefully they won’t leave a bad taste in your mouth either!
Lindsey says
I just listened to the podcast “How I Built This” about Lara Bars…. very good! And makes you say WHY DIDN’T I THINK OF THAT?!
Detroit Duchess says
OOOOH! Coconut Cream Pie sounds so good! I love coconut. Homeland is really intense, I can’t wait to see what you think of it! I am two seasons behind, but I have them saved on my DVR to catch up on. Claire Danes is fantastic in this, her character is so complicated.
