Ha! Did my title confuse you?
Today’s post is such a random mix of things. I had three things to discuss with you and thought, well, geez, I’ll just stick them all in one random post.
Before we get to Thailand, shampoo and deodorant…did you remember to enter to win this today…
…every day this week, I’m giving away a $500 Nordstrom Gift Card!! On Friday morning, I’m going to announce all four winners, so hopefully, you’ve been entering! You have a few more chances!! You enter the Rafflecopter at the bottom of this post! To see my picks from this year’s sale, click HERE.
In the meantime, let’s kick off today’s post with this…
Our experience at the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary was fascinating and unforgettable. We got to feed, bathe and play with elephants until our hearts were content!
…friends, this is Clare! Clare and I have been friends for YEARS and bonus, she works with us over here at Mix and Match Travel Agency. You guys think I travel a lot with my kids? Um, Clare travels A TON! Her family just got back from Thailand last week and before that…they were in Amsterdam, Milan, Venice and Japan and that’s just in the last six months. Yeah. They traveled to all of those places just this year!
I asked Clare to share just a bit about their most recent adventure and here is what she said:
Thailand is often referred to as the “Land of Smiles” and our recent visit helped us to see why! The islands in Thailand are famous for their wonderful beaches, laid back vibe and exploratory excursions, while Bangkok, Thailand’s biggest city is known for its colorful street life. This trip was the perfect blend of adventure, culture and relaxation.
We did many exciting things during our stay in Thailand, but the three highlights were:
- Visiting the Elephant Retirement Park in Phuket
- Spending time in the spas (spa treatments are very affordable in Thailand)
- Exploring the exotic night markets in Bangkok
Our trip to Thailand started in the lush rainforests of Phuket, then to some of the most tranquil picture-perfect beaches
in Hua Hin, and was finished off by the hustle and bustle of big city life in Bangkok. We loved getting to experience this little slice of paradise!
One day our kids were invited to play with other children on the beach in Hua Hin. I love how language is never an issue for younger ones. Playing and having fun is what kids do, no matter where you come from.
I just wanted to introduce you to Clare today and share her most recent trip. I know many of you have already worked with her and know how SWEET she is! She lives right here in our area and I love, love, love working with this friend of mine. If you want more info on planning an amazing adventure like this one or a trip like ours to Europe, please email us! We would love to help you plan your next vacation 🙂 . mixandmatchtravelagency@yahoo.com
Next up on our list of randomness…shampoo.
Okay, I really didn’t think much about posting about my new shampoo, but I’ve had several comments lately about my hair looking nice and healthy, and friends…I really think it’s the new shampoo and conditioner! Which, I owe all to…
…Brooke.
Guys.
You know Brooke. She’s Willow’s mama…
…she’s also the mama to Aiden, Cooper and Libby too!
When Brooke tells you to buy something, you do it. I don’t know what it is? We laugh about it because Brooke could sell ice to an Eskimo. She can get me to buy ANYTHING. She has this persuasive way about her! And you know what? She’s always right. Well, she told me I needed to start using this shampoo and conditioner…
…I never in a million years would have bought this, but friends…I’M OBSESSED!!! This stuff is amazing!!! I totally think it’s made my hair so much shinier and healthier!!
Thank you Brooke! You always know best 🙂 .
Also, I bought this on my own the other day to spray in my damp hair…
…and love it! It smells so good and gives me the wave I love. Just an FYI! You can find it HERE.
Okay, I do not want this next part to be controversial. I just want to share that after much discussion with my self-proclaimed “crunchy” friend (that’s what she calls herself), I have stopped using regular deodorant with all of the chemicals and yuckiness (if you google it, it will scare the heck out of you!) and started using this based on her recommendation…
But first, let me confess something. When I tried to jump straight from normal deodorant (that I’ve been using for like 25 years!) to the natural stuff, I broke out into a rash. It was lovely. #sarcasm
My friend told me that I needed to detox my underarms before jumping from one to the other which meant…I went a week without wearing deodorant. I know. Now, some people are firm believers that you shouldn’t wear deodorant at all (even the natural kind), and I can see their point, but at this time in my life, I still feel like I need something, so after detoxing, I switched over to these two (based on her recommendations). I use the charcoal one at night and the coconut lime during the day. It’s been a week with this new stuff and I love it!! So, for what it’s worth, if you’ve ever considered it, here are my new recommendations.
Whew! Random, right?
Now…today’s a big day at our house because Andrew and I are headed for an adult-only vacation! Woohoo!!! I love traveling with my kids and all…but I am so pumped to get away with just him 🙂 . Follow along on Instagram to see what we’re up to!
And don’t forget…
…enter the Rafflecopter below!!
If you’re not on social media, you can still enter by signing up for my daily emails. To do that, click HERE.
Happy Hump Day!

The best natural deodorant I’ve ever tried is Schmidt’s brand – you can find it at Target or even Costco! Also, the toxins in beauty products/skincare/makeup are unreal. If you want recs for safer beauty let me know!!
Brooke Richardson says
Hi Kristin, I used Schmidt’s too. I love their coconut pineapple!!!
Jenn says
I would imagine if it’s natural it’s ok for children? Do they detox too?
Charmaine Ng | Architecture & Lifestyle Blog says
I’d love to visit the elephant sanctuary in Phuket myself! It’s actually not that difficult for me, since I live so close by in Hong Kong and travel to Thailand at least once a year. Will definitely be putting it on the list! 🙂

Yay! Good for you an Andrew — time away for just the 2 of you is so important. Have the best time!
Jodie says
Tell me more about this deodorant. I’ve wanted to switch forever but I’m way too nervous! How did you survive 1 week without any?! Does the new stuff hold up even in the 100 degree weather or when you’re working out at the gym? Give me more info please!
Mix and Match Mama says
It wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought!! Honestly! It was 105 in Dallas yesterday and the new stuff worked just fine!
Kelly Franks says
Does it leave residue on your clothes? I keep hearing that since it has essential oils it leaves oil marks. Is that true??
Mix and Match Mama says
I have not found that to be the case!
Elspeth Mizner says
Have the best getaway! Can’t wait to see where you go!!
Sheaffer Sims says
I must say, I’m intrigued by the deodorant.
Laura says
Question for you on the deodorant- do they work as an antiperspirant too? I switched to all natural deodorant during both my pregnancies to try and be as healthy as possible and eliminate the high levels of aluminum (found in most deodorants) from my body. However, I was frustrated because they didn’t seem to work well and offered nothing for an antiperspirant.
Mix and Match Mama says
You need to do your homework, but it really has been working for me!
Sarah says
That shampoo and conditioner are the best! I just started using them at the beginning of the summer and could not believe the difference! You should try the Blow Down cream by Matrix also! I started using it at the same time and it’s equally amazing.
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams says
A few girlfriends have talked to me about natural deodorants and switching over. I do think regular ones cause some damage but I just haven’t tried a natural one I’ve liked. Have the best time on your adults vaca! I love that you and Andrew do that!
Amanda @ Cupcake N Dreams
Becca says
Native deodorant is also a good natural alternative!
Amy Smith says
I really like the Native Coconut and Vanilla too. I’m recovering from breast cancer and trying to make the switch to as many natural, toxin-free skincare and household products as possible. So far I like the Thieves household cleaner from Young Living, and skincare/makeup products from Beautycounter and Juice Beauty. I’m also trying several mineral based sunscreens and I really like Blue Lizard and ThinkSport /ThinkBaby.
Danielle Sliepka says
Yes! I’ve tried several and Native is my favorite!
Susann says
I LOVE Native deodorant! It’s amazing!
Erin says
This left nasty white stuff on my clothes. I wanted to love it because I’ve heard it’s the bomb.
Katherine says
I switched over to the same deodorant about 3 months ago and I am SO happy I did! Glad you are loving it , too!
Sarah says
Shay, do you know if the shampoo/conditioner are safe to use on color treated hair? I’d love to try something different but I’m timid on stripping my brunette color that hides my grays! {no one needs to see those ?}
Mix and Match Mama says
It’s working for my color treated hair!!!
Liz says
I have been a “Secret” girl since I started wearing deodorant which I’m sure is full of chemicals. Does this deodorant act as a deodorant and antiperspirant? Has your husband switched over too?
Mix and Match Mama says
I was a Degree girl…but I love this new stuff. And no, hubby not on board. Yet. 😉
Kristy says
That’s my shampoo and conditioner! Been using it it for about 5 years and love it! Now, about the deodorant/ I’m a sweater….is natural good for people who tend to sweat more than others???
P.s. I thought no there’s a glitch with rafflecopter- I can’t get past the Pinterest confirmation..,
Mix and Match Mama says
I’ll check out the rafflecopter now! I don’t know the answer to your first question…it seems to be working for me though!
Dianna says
Are you going to get your husband to switch over to natural deodorant too?
Mix and Match Mama says
He acted like that was ridiculous. I’ll keep working on him though 🙂 .
Sarah N says
I stopped using Primal Pit Paste because my under arms were so red they looked burned. So you are saying I need to detox first and then it will be ok? Interesting!!
Mix and Match Mama says
That was me!!! After detoxing, it applied without any irritation. My was red and burned too!
Erin Haynes says
Question: where did you get your flag shorts?
Mix and Match Mama says
chubbies.com
Briana says
I had the same problem with primal pit paste. I switched to primally pure brand and haven’t had an issue as theirs uses less baking soda (which is what causes the red rash). Primally pure works great and I never had to detox which would definitely scare me to do.
Kim says
Hi Shay, Does Clare have a blog or Instagram? I would love to follow her. Thank you and have a great time on your trip!
Mix and Match Mama says
No, she’s one of those private people 😉 . You’ve gotta love that!
Kim says
Yay for her but booo for us lol. It would be great to read about her travels but carry on Clare. ?
Laura Thomas says
So shocked you are using a different shampoo/ conditioner!! It must be that good!! Ordering it now!! Can’t wait for the winners on Friday!!
Mix and Match Mama says
I’m shocked too, Laura! Ha!
Elizabeth says
I’m so glad you jumped on the train and started using Primal Pit Paste! I’ve been using it for a few years now, and I would never go back to regular deodorant. There are tons of toxic ingredients not only in deodorant, but in all of our everyday beauty products and household soaps, cleaners, etc. I encourage everyone to do their research about the items they’re using and start moving towards a nontoxic lifestyle. I did it 2 years ago and its the best decision I’ve ever made!
Natalie Alvarado says
I made the switch to natural deodorant last year, but it took some time for me to find the one that actually worked for me. I tried Primal Pit Paste with no luck. But then I found NATIVE Coconut & Vanilla and it works!! Plus the smell is the absolute best! Also, the Pacifica Underarm Deodorant Wipes from Target help during the transition period or just when you need a refresher during the day. I keep them in my purse and they work too!
Julie says
Love Thailand!! We also stayed in Hua Hin and loved Bangkok too! Hope to go back some day to Thailand!
Marcy says
Thanks for the recommendations, I need new shampoo/conditioner… have a fantastic time on your getaway with Andrew
Kelly Brown says
I recently switched to natural deodorant a few months ago. It does take some getting used to and I’ve had to try out a few different ones but I think it’s totally worth it. It’s really scary to read about what’s in the regular deodorant. I hate that I didn’t make the switch sooner.
Christi says
Have a great adult vacation. I get to tag along to New Orleans with my husband’s conference trip this fall. I can’t wait!
I’ve used several natural deodorants and gotten the rash. I am loving Native right now and have introduced my girls (kids…) to it. My husband usesnatural, too but it’s by an Amish company or Jason. Now my teenage son is all about Axe but hey at least he’s wearing something! I’ll have to try that shampoo. Anyway enjoy your trip.
Brooke Richardson says
I’m so glad the shampoo and conditioner is working for several of us gals!!! WIN WIN!!! Have a blast on your trip!
Mix and Match Mama says
Girl…you know you have this power over me! The shampoo and conditioner are amazing!
Karah Stracener says
Okay you have me intrigued on the natural deodorant. I’m going to have to do some research. The pictures from your friends trip to Thailand look amazing. Adding that to my bucket list. 🙂 I have been on the hunt for a new shampoo and conditioner so I will be buying today. Thanks for the recommendation.
Emily says
Hi there – I use Piper Wai Charcoal Deodorant (M-I-L is convinced her deodorant gave her breast cancer) and have found I need to put it on well in advance in order for it to not stain my clothes (ends up staining my PJs). Have you found the same issue? Going to order these now and give them a whirl. Thanks!
Jillian says
I am so interested in the deodorant! I ordered a mini jar to give it a try. They are also telling me I can smell like chai tea! I am SOLD!
Anna says
Love Thailand! Been there several times because mom is from there but summer is very hot there. So glad to know about detoxing first because I definitely switched to a natural brand and I was itchy and rashy.
Audrey Bolton says
All in favor of Clare starting a travel blog, say I….but for real, would love to read about all of her travels.
Caroline says
I’ve been using Native deodorant for nearly a year and LOVE it! Let me tell you, I was a sweaty Betty– but by allowing my body to sweat if it needs to, I really don’t sweat at all anymore. I was told that limiting the body’s ability to sweat makes it freak out and try like mad to eliminate the toxins it needs to excrete through sweat– making you sweat more. The miracle of the human body!
Morgan says
I have had a similar experience since switching to a natural deodorant! Primal Pit Paste didn’t work for me – also caused a rash – but I’m using Schmidt now, and it’s great!
Tracy says
Great post on Thailand. Does your “crunchy” friend have a blog? I love crunchy people! 🙂 Enjoy your trip!
Mix and Match Mama says
Hahaha! She doesn’t. She should though!
Casey says
I’ve switched to natural deodorant as well, but I find they don’t “glide” on as well. Does this brand go on easy?
Mix and Match Mama says
Per the package, it says to hold it there for five seconds and then glide it on. I didn’t do that at first, but it really did make a difference! now, I do every time!
Lori Whittington says
Hi Shay! Do your older kids use deodorant, and if so have you switched them to natural?
Mix and Match Mama says
Kensington does and yes, I switched her too. She didn’t have any reaction when starting.
kellie carrara says
Oh wow! Thailand! I would love to go there! We go to eat (almost every week) at a TINY (I’m talking 5 table place) Thai restaurant. They know us by name, our order and are always giving us new things to try. I think I lived on their spring rolls when I was pregnant! I think I could eat my way through that beautiful country.
Thanks again for the chance to win the Nordstrom G.C.
Erin says
Thank you for the deodorant recommendation! I don’t wear deodorant often, but there are times I have to (like when on vacay in Florida or my husband starts telling me he can smell me, LOL), so I am gong to try some of those, thanks!! I have also tried using purification Essential Oil, and it works too!
Ralinn says
I will definitely look into Primal Paste. I have tried several other natural deodorants but I always feel wet. I just can’t stand that feeling. I have never been to Thailand. It look like a beautiful place to visit.
Colleen says
I also just switched to a natural deodorant after only using “regular” deodorant for years. The regular stuff just wasn’t cutting it (I tried all varieties of Secret, Suave, Dove etc.) and tried the natural ones at the stores (Tom’s etc.) but I would be smelly after each of them. I saw a FB advertisement for Native and thought I’d try it but was skeptical. I have been amazed….I live in FL and it has survived the summer so far and a trip to Disney World. I started with the Lavender & Rose, the smell is great but a bit strong. Great for yoga workout but not all day. I got in touch with the company and asked for a recommendation and they said Coconut and Vanilla is their most popular so I tried that (even though neither of those fragrances are what I usually go to)…and it has been great. I have been telling all my friends this summer and passing it on. I didn’t even have to do a transition like some people say. The company was very responsive and friendly too.
Kary says
I switched to Freedom deodorant and LOVE it so much!! Sooo worth it!
Kathy Lang says
Thailand looks like a lot of fun! Does the new shampoo and conditioner take out all of your natural curl/wave, and is that why you added the sea salt spray to your routine? That’s my biggest concern with using a “smoothing” shampoo and conditioner because one I tried in the past smoothed my hair so much that my natural curl/wave was no longer there! 🙁 I would really like to find a shampoo that makes my hair feel healthier and shinier though….On another note, have you tried Kopari products, like their coconut, natural deodorant? Sheaffer and another blogger (Chronicles of Fidelity) mentioned it and really liked it, so I purchased and have been using it for around a month. It works well throughout the day, but I think I should be putting it on at night too.
Mix and Match Mama says
That was my fear too, Kathy! No, it doesn’t. I would never have purchased it because of the word “smooth”, but honestly, I think it just “smoothes” down my hair follicles and makes it look less frizzy. And I’m obsessed with kopari!!
TLG says
I know we are all doing our best! I use(d) Kopari deodorant, too! Do you follow Bare Beauty Blog? She is the queen of vetting “natural” products. I love her. I messaged with her about Kopari deodorant and here’s what she had to say: “It’s clean-ish. Better than most, for sure, but not squeaky-clean! My favorite nontoxic deodorants are Vapour AER, Agent Nateur and Meow Meow Tweet.”…. Just some food for thought! She really knows her stuff. When my Kopari runs out, I am going to switch to one of her three recs.
Meagan Smith says
We visited the Elephany Jungle Sanctuary two years ago and it’s still one of our most favorite things we have ever done! 🙂
Also I’m a huge fan of that deodorant! 😉
Enjoy your trip with your man!
Natalie says
Love primal pit! I learned that you don’t actually want anti-perspirant. When you use it, you are blocking your body’s natural ability to sweat and cool yourself off. I was so worried when I stopped using it, but my body naturally adjusted itself!
Janette says
I tried that brand of deodorant and Schmidt’s and while I really liked them both (my hubby still uses the Paste) after a while they both gave me a rash from the baking soda. I use Native now and have had no issues. Just in case after using it for a while you have the same issue. 🙂
Joyce says
You have convinced me to switch to a natural deodorant, and I am going to recommend your shampoo and conditioner to my daughters. Thanks for sharing!!!
Amanda @ That Inspired Chick says
Yes!! That shampoo is awesome! I came in on the middle of y’all’s conversation about this at church the other day and got some on sale at Ulta. I love it!
That Inspired Chick
Alaleh says
Native is the best- I’ve tried them all!! I read somewhere to do an armpit detox every once in a while with clay and vinegar (tons of recipes on Pinterest) and that was a game changer for me!! Made the natural deodorant works so much better!
Ashley says
Ok the ‘sell ice to an Eskimo’ thing is so funny because I tell my friends all the time that you are like that for me and I don’t even know you personally hahaha
I don’t read (maybe 1 or books a year MAX) and yet every book review you do, I end up buying a minimum of 4 books. My shelves are full with books not yet cracked open. I bought that iron spray stuff and my husband just shook his head HAHA. Heck, you could tell me that Texan ice is better than Canadian ice and I would buy it. Too funny!
Pepita says
I tried a bunch of natural deodorants as well – Piper Wai, Young Living, Schmidt’s. I finally tried Native deodorants and I LOVE it! Their coconut and vanilla is great, and I just recently bought their special summer scent of Rosé. Somehow smelling like wine makes me happy in the morning! I also had to adjust to it not being an antiperspirant because I sweat profusely, but like one of the other ladies said, once I let that go, my body has adjusted and I don’t sweat nearly as much. Even if I do sweat, I don’t feel “wet” like when I used other deodorants. Native also has a travel pack that includes five travel sizes. I started with that to see how I would like them, and now I just buy the full size!
Melissa P. says
Schmidt’s lavendar sage all natural deodorant is the BEST!
Andrea says
The shampoo and conditioner you recommended are on sale at Ulta right now per their jumbo love sale. The large 33.8 oz bottles are only $12.99. Just a heads up for you and people who really like that shampoo and conditioner! 🙂 Your recommendations are always so great!
Amanda Harkins says
The natural deodorant is a great step in the right direction! I’ve used a few different brands & have had no issues at all. There are so many harmful ingredients in all the personal care items you use it’s really scary when you start doing your research! My famil & I made the switch to beautycounter a while back & couldn’t be happier. My skin is looking so amazing from all the wonderful products. We just launched a new line of pressed powders that are gorgeous!
Leslie says
Thanks for the great info! What brand of deodorant does Kensington use? We’ve been using Toms and like it, but I’m going to have to research now to see if that’s the best/natural for pre-teens.
Mix and Match Mama says
I bought her this stuff too!
Angela Ellingson says
Love your recommendations! I’ve used a natural deodorant for a few years now, although I must admit that every once in awhile if I have an event like a wedding (read: dancing) I’ll pull out the big guns. But for everyday, the natural is definitely sufficient. Have a fun time away with your hubby!
Angela says
I LOVE Primal Pit Paste!!! I have tested virtually ALL of the natural deoderants and some were downright awful!! I felt like with most of them I had major BO by mid afternoon! Never an issue with this deodorant!! You can buy it easily on amazon!
Meredith says
So glad to hear about the detox thing- I started using a natural about a month ago and just this week went back to secret because I was getting all red. I will try the detox- we go to Colorado in a week so that sounds like a good detox location- 107 is just to hot to go natural?
Mary says
I have been wanting to switch to natural deoderant for a while but when I tried Tom’s it did not work for me. It smelled good for thr fjrst few minutes but after I started going about my day I iust smelled like sweat. I tried it for a few weeks but switched back to regular deoderant that helps me smell good for most of the day. Does the Primal Pit Paste last all day?
Morgan says
I’m intrigued about the separate deodorant at night – is there a reason? Or does everyone use deodorant at night and I’m just over here totally unaware? haha!
Sara Fehrenbacher says
I switched to an Arm & Hammer deodorant that is free of aluminum and other harmful chemicals! I like it! I do notice that in the summer, it’s best if I apply twice a day, like before work, and when I get home (if I’m doing anything other than staying home for the evening). I didn’t think it was an issue in the winter, though, unless I was super active that day. Do you feel that yours keeps you fresh all day?
Kelly B says
Thank you for sharing about the deodorant! I’ve been using the Lavendar scent of the primal pit paste, but started to get a rash as well. Looks like I need to do a detox! Wish me luck our Florida summers are just as brutal as yours!!
Peyton Cline says
So excited to try this shampoo and conditioner!!! Since having my baby boy five months ago, my hair has been a hot mess. I was able to get the liter size of the Matrix Sleek shampoo and conditioner from Beauty Brands during their liter sale for under $30 ??
Gloria says
I switched deodorants after being diagnosed with breast cancer. I couldn’t use any while going through treatment, but started using Tom’s and it didn’t cut it for me. I saw a natural one on Shark Tank and ordered some Piper Wai to try and I love it! It works great no matter how long I’ve been sweating my underarms never smell (sorry that’s probably TMI)!! Hang in there it’s worth the change! I had used Secret all my life and I switched over with no problems and I have very sensitive skin.
Melissa says
Check out Crystal stick deoderant too. It’s basically a salt stick and you do not stink! I have always been a big sweater and I think my body has adjusted so I don’t sweat as much but still a little in the ridiculous Mississippi humidity
Kacy Mah says
Went to Bangkok and Phuket last January and loved it!
Marissa says
I made the switch to Primal Pit Paste too and love it! Funny story though, I was using coconut lime, but developed a MAJOR aversion to anything lime at the beginning of my pregnancy and had to switch to the lavender scent. The lavender is amazing and I feel so relaxed when I smell it throughout the day.
Laci says
I also detoxed and tried a handful of aluminum free deodorant, including Tom’s and Schmidt’s and finally found Native deodorant. It’s life- changing! $10 for every 2 month shipping and the coconut & vanilla scent is amazing. Works for well over 14 hours.
Margaret says
I am trying to stretch my hair washing from 3 to 4 days. Do you have a dry shampoo you recommend? Will be ordering this shampoo and conditioner.
Mix and Match Mama says
I love Dry Bar’s Triple Sec!!
Lauren says
Are the deodorants effective while working out?
Mix and Match Mama says
I find it to be!
Melissa Jones says
Just bought this shampoo and conditioner..can’t wait to wash my hair! Oh and bonus there’s a liter sale at Beauty Brands $13.
Brittany says
Kopari’s deodorant has been life changing for me and smells ridiculously good. I liked Native but broke out in a rash then went back to regular. I’ve been using Kopari for a couple of weeks now and I haven’t broke out near as bad under the arms and it seems to last longer then the Native.
Melissa says
Just bought this shampoo/conditioner. FYI, Beauty Brands has this on their liter sale, $13….stock up!
Stefany says
Can’t wait to try the shampoo and conditioner…FYI they are on sale right now at Ulta. (Bottle looks different but I think they are the same) Have a great Adult vacation. It has been fun, reading about your family vacation over to Scotland and Ireland!!!
Melissa says
Really wish the shampoo was sulfate free. As far as I know, that ingredient typically strips hair dye and is very harmful for our skin/scalp. I haven’t found a shampoo that I love 🙁
Beth Miller says
I’ve been using natural deodorant for almost two years. I started after my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. I used Primal Pit Paste for a while, but didn’t like that it doesn’t go on very smoothly and was a hard texture. Enter Primally Pure deodorant! It’s the BEST deodorant I’ve ever used! It goes on smooth and actually works! They have a subscription program so my deodorant is shipped each month! I love knowing that it’s a small company and only healthy ingredients. If you have any trouble with the PPP, I would suggest switching to Primally Pure! And yes, that rash sure is lovely when you switch!
Mindy says
Is the shampoo good for fine hair? Also, do you feel like the natural deodorant really works well in the Texas heat?
Mix and Match Mama says
I do!!!
Kelly says
I switched to as many non-toxic products as possible after a cancer diagnoses last year. I tried several natural deodorants (not this one though) and had the same rash issue. I didn’t know that I should detox but basically I did because the rash was so sore I couldn’t wear anything! I started using Young Living’s deodorant and no rash issues, it works great for me!
Heather says
Long time reader, first time poster here. I LOL’d when your new shampoo and conditioner turned out to be the ones I use- I agree they are great!
Kayla Bruce says
I switched to all natural deodorant about a year ago, and I would say that it works just as well with maybe one more application/ day than with normal deodorant. I normally us Tom’s, but I’m going to try Schmidt’s as well. My husband (who is a runner) uses Dove Men+Care Deodorant Stick, Clean Comfort because it is not an antiperspirant, so it doesn’t have aluminum in it. He tried Tom’s, but it didn’t quite cut it for him, so I think this was a compromise in the middle. He always smells great!
Chelsey says
I have been needing a new shampoo/conditioner because I have not been loving mine lately. Giving this a try! Also, I have always been a Degree girl but have found myself trying not to wear deodorant (unless I’m working out or something) because of all the yucky stuff in it. I was at Target recently and picked up the Schmidt’s natural deodorant and LOVE IT – I got the lavender & sage and then just picked up the charcoal one after a friend said it was her favorite!
Susan McKain says
Thank you so much for posting this, Shay! I have been avoiding parabens in shampoo and conditioner for a few years, and have been concerned about deodorant but hadn’t looked into it. I was very happy to see your post as well as further discussion in the comments. I made it three days without any deodorant, and have now switched to a natural brand. Evening one, dining outside at a local restaurant, went well. Thank you!
Emily says
Love this post…totally interested in the deodorant!!! When you say detox…you just went without but DID NOT use “Pit detox kit?” Your friend says by wearing none is enough detoxing?
Thanks!
Mix and Match Mama says
Correct. She had me completely stop wearing anything for a week.
Emily says
Thanks for the reply. Well, I am on day 2…I thought it was 2 weeks. A relief knowing it’s only 7 days. 😉 LOL!
Amanda says
I switched to Native deodorant last year. It’s taken some getting used to that slightly wet feeling at times, but I guess that’s because it’s not an antiperspirant (which, when you think about it, is a little weird….your bodies are supposed to sweat, so why would you use chemicals to stop it). I bought that shampoo and conditioner (my hair was needing a shake up), and I’ve only used it once but so far, I’m loving it! My hair is smooth and it smells good!
Mix and Match Mama says
Yay!!! Me too!! I am so happy with both changes!
