My week feels totally weird. It feels like a Wednesday to me, but I’m super pumped that it’s FRIDAY!
This is me all week long…
…anyone else?
So, my favorite station on Pandora right now is Michael Buble Christmas, my favorite on iheartradio is iheartchristmas and my three favorite Christmas albums are…
Hahahahaha! Right?! 😉
Just like every Friday, I’m linking up with my friends Erika, Narci and Andrea and sharing my favorite things from the week starting with…
…I got to spend a few days in NYC with these beautiful ladies. I just could go on and on and on and on all day about these friends of mine. I thank the Lord every single day for such a strong group of women in my life. I love each and every one of them, and we had the BEST time on our little getaway to the Big Apple.
This was hands down THE PRETTIEST I’ve ever seen New York City. We probably said a million times “oh my gosh, look at the leaves!”. The city was STUNNING. The trees were on display, the weather was crisp but not too cold, the food was delicious, the walking was delightful…we loved it all. I did an entire post on Tuesday about my favorite things to do/see/stay/etc in New York City, and then updated it yesterday with our itinerary from this particular trip (I was trying to keep all the NYC stuff in one succinct post). You can read that whole post HERE. In that post, I share the food tour company we used (we love you, Cindy!!) and listed all of the restaurants where we ate plus shared my favorite hotels. The best part about that post though? THE COMMENTS FROM NEW YORKERS!! Even if you read it before, go back and read it again!!! THANK YOU, NEW YORKERS!!!
Karla, Erika, Lisa, Narci, Lori, Jeni, Sheaffer, Andrea, Meagan and me 🙂 . We were headed to dinner on this night. Shoes so high? The restaurant was all of 20 feet from our hotel, so we didn’t have to go far! 😉
Head HERE to read about our trip in my All About NYC post.
I wanted to share a few of my favorite things from the trip that I wore. This trip, I knew we were doing a lot of walking and that the weather would be 40s/50s, so I dressed comfy and warm. These two things were worn all three days…
…my black North Face jacket and New Balance sneakers. I do not know what the people at The North Face do to make their stuff so thin yet warm, but thank heavens they do!! I love this jacket so much! It has lots of pockets and it also has the little hand things you can pull down from the wrist if you want to keep your hands warm. I sized up and bought this in a small and it fit perfectly. I bought black, but it comes in three other colors too. My New Balance aren’t new, so I can’t link directly to them, but they were just comfy. My feet were happy for three days straight!
I wore two dinner outfits while we were there. Here is my outfit from night one…
…velvet jeans and THE CUTEST TOP EVER! I could not get over how much I loved this top!!! I am absolutely obsessed with everything about it! I love the length (it’s longer in the back), I love the cutouts, I love the fabric, I LOVE IT! I bought it in black, but it comes in six other colors too. It’s perfect for the holiday season!!
See how the hem is longer in the back? These velvet jeans are super amazing too!! The ends are frayed and they wear just like regular jeans but they’re velvet. Hello holiday season!!
My silver sandals just finished everything off 🙂 .
One last find for our trip…
…my roommate Karla and I each had matching leopard onesies for bed!! Hahahahaha!
We laughed so hard wearing these!! They are fleece, so they kept us super warm and in hysterics. My kids think they’re fun around the house too!
Calling all bow head mamas…
…my cousin Casey just sent me all sorts of fun holiday bows for the girls!! Look how cute they all are…
…if you’re looking for some fun and festive bows (she has everything from your basic colors to fun prints and even sequin bows too!), you can find her website HERE. These bows are basically indestructible! I wash my girls’ all the time. They will last you years and years!
Last but certainly not least…
…it’s my annual THANKSGIVING EVERYTHING post! With Turkey Day a week earlier this year (which is how I prefer it!), we have less than two weeks before the big day! You can see a roundup of my favorite Thanksgiving day recipes HERE.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I want to leave you with this pic here…
…tomorrow is the second annual Manda Strong Foundation 5K and Fun Run. I miss my friend every day. This was us at a 5K/Fun Run given in her honor in December 2014. I didn’t know then that we only had two more years left together. Hug your friends. Life is super short. xo

When you travel do you take all of your skincare products & stick to your regular routine?? Or do you only take the essentials & if so, which ones are they (ie actual product & brand etc) ?? Thx Have a great Friday & wknd!
Mix and Match Mama says
I usually don’t take much and try to use as many samples and such that I’ve accumulated. On this trip, the only thing I took out of my “normal” routine was my Tula moisturizer.

If you haven’t yet, you should totally listen to Harry Connick Jr.’s Christmas album When My Heart Finds Christmas. It’s my absolute favorite and so fun to listen to, especially for kids! We listen to it every year when we decorate our tree, and before and after that as well! 🙂
Chelsey says
If you would like to add to your Christmas song collection, Lauren Daigle’s album Behold is amazing and beautiful.
Yay for Christmas being around the corner!

YES to your Christmas albums! And I’ve never heard Ella’s Christmas, but I’m listening to it this year. PLEASE listen to Harry Connick Jr’s Christmas album! I know it will become a favorite for you. Besides, Harry is just a really great musician! Another favorite Christmas album of ours is Celine Dion’s! Every time I look at a post with your friends, I know you all must be feeling the absence of Manda so deeply. I pray for her family when they come to mind. A strong and close group of girlfriends is really a must. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. It would be a great idea for you to offer Girlfriend trips at your travel agency!

Oh my goodness!! My mom had the Carpenter’s Christmas album when I was a child and played it all the time during Christmas. I now have it and LOVE it! It just gives me that warm and fuzzy feeling. It brings back memories from my childhood and now, my daughter gets to grow up with it. 🙂
Mix and Match Mama says
It is the soundtrack of my childhood. I’m literally listening to it right this minute!!

I read on another blog (howsweeteats.com) about a Christmas music app called Tinsel & Tunes. It’s really good! Just another one to add in case you need more Christmas music ?
DANIELLE K RIGG says
Hallmark Question…I usually watch just the Hallmark Holiday Movie Channel (Romance & love Christmas movies), do you ever watch the Hallmark Movie Mystery Channel? These too have Christmas movies but more with solving who someone is, etc. They are just as addicting. Now I have double to watch!!! If you watch both, which ones do you like better?
Mix and Match Mama says
I know about that channel, but I can’t seem to get off of the other one to check it out. I need to though!
